Daily Limit Of Hdrocodone Acetaminophen Norco 10 325 Mg
UpdatedI have had two back surgeries, and have severe lumbar pain on a daily basis, especially when doing certain activities. I cannot do my physical therapy without taking a pain pill first but then I can get through my exercises. Last year my doctor lowered the number of tablets that I can take per day from 4 down to 3. Is this a federal law, or is it the practice of the medical facility that I go to? I also have arthritis throughout my body and need a shoulder replacement and cortisone shots in my knees, etc. I am not aware of the arthritis pain that runs through my body until I run out of my meds, so it must be working. I do however, occasionally, run out of my meds 3 or 4 days before I can get it refilled. Anything from weather presures or certain activities just elevates my pain to the point where certain days I have to take one more. I don't go through withdrawals when I wait for my refill, but slowly the pain starts to rack my entire body. A new Orthopedic DR just told me that he would rather I took my pain pills and got my body moving. No one has ever told me this before, & I always waited until I was in pain to take the pills, and then it was too late. Since I received this advice from him I have gotten more done in the past couple months then I have in the past couple of years. Still, he told me I am always going to have degenerative lifelong pain. Although I understand the warnings and the limitations and even the addictions, for those of us that are truly in pain, these restrictions are very scary. Pain puts me right into anxiety and depression. I have meds for those too, but I would rather stay out of pain and keep moving. Since taking this new advice, I feel like I have my life back, but again I am going to run short on my meds. Family doctor can only prescribe 3 per day, but I do believe the specialist can write a prescription for 4 tabs per day. Just wondering what the law says.

Hello, Kathy! How are you?
The law varies from state to state, in most, it's no more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine a day, but some states have lowered it further to only 100mgs a day.
You are nowhere near that, so yes, you should be able to have more prescribed by your specialist.
To give you something to go by, Morphine and Hydrocodone are equivalent on a 1 to 1 basis.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
