i was prescribed diovan 320 mg htc norvitis and diovan 320 mg valsartan, are these the same drug

No, they are not really the same.

The Diovan HCT combines the ARB medication Valsartan with the diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide, which removes excess fluids from the body.

The regular Diovan just contains the ARB medication Valsartan.
