Cymbalta - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly Drug
UpdatedI was on cymbalta for 7 to 8 years can't remember that's one of the side effects. Anyway I was put on it for my rage and fibromyalgia. Well it helped my mood tremendously. Someone could say some hateful or sarcastic comment and it wouldn't even bother me one bit. Now the bad, I had severe right side pain. Went to one doctor to another they finally took out my gallbladder. Had severe constipation and weight gain. Also had brain zaps thru the back of my skull. I tried getting off cymbalta several times and failed couldn't handle side effects. I finally got the courage 3 months ago to stop this good/evil drug. I would take one every other day for a week. Then take One every 2 days for a week Until I quit. Now that I'm off I have depression. Rage is back. So it did help in that perspective. Also I didn't mention I have narcolepsy where I slept all the time and now having those brain zaps has caused me to have a bit of insomnia. I'm having other health problems and I don't know if it's from taking cymbalta all these years but I never had them before such as right chest pain. Headaches. Nausea. Well I had nausea being on the medicine. Low blood. Anemic. Oh and severe cramping in back of calf muscles when walking, fever, chills, etc, etc. As far as helping my fibromyalgia I couldn't tell a difference.

Hello, Raerae! How are you doing?
Did the pain in your right side stop, once your gallbladder was removed?
How about the chest pain, have you had that checked out by your doctor?
Most of the other issues you've described are typical side effects of this medication, as listed by the FDA. It can also cause dizziness, headache and dry mouth.
Well when I did get my gallbladder removed it did help but as far as my intestinal problems it was awful still not right but a slight better since I've stopped taking it. When I mentioned I was having brain zaps my doctor basically laughed in my face and said I've never heard of such a thing. I wanted to zap him. Anyway my vision is messed up also and just found out I have cataracts in both eyes and am only 41. I believe alot of my health problems these past few years were from being on this med. Like I said never had problems with stomach, eyes, Or head before. I realize the side effects that are listed but they don't mention anything about shooting pains shooting up your skull or other several painful and scary effects. Either they don't know or just don't care. If I could go back in time I would never had taken this drug. It has really done something to my short term memory. And also, we'll I forgot what I was going to say. [See memory gone]. Well hopefully it will get better in time.
