Cymbalta 60 Mg

Updated

Hi. I have been on 60 mg Cymbalta for anxiety before with great success (which is why I stopped because I felt so good). Anyway a year later I am having another episode with anxiety and was put back on Cymbalta 30 mg. I was only on that for 8 days and then switched to the 60 mg. I am finding some increased anxiety (but within my body not mind) on the increase and it has been 9 days. My Dr. thinks I should go back down to 30 for three weeks but I almost feel like now that I have been on the 60 for 8 days the symptoms will subside any day and I don't want to start over at 30? Has any one had a similar experience. Replies would be greatly appreciated . Please only positive feedback, no horror stories, I don't think I could handle that right now. THank you!

Though I haven't been on Cymbalta I have been on several other antidepressants over 30 years. I have often found I don't always get the same benefits or side effects after starting one I had discontinued for some time.
I have also heard several people say their doctor discouraged them from going off one that works because he/she could not guarantee it would work for them the next time they felt they needed it.

I do have to agree with Maya69 on that, I have talked to many people that had problems going back on an antidepressant that they stopped for awhile, I've also experienced it myself. I stopped Zoloft, after being on it for several years, but when I tried it, again, it actually made me depressed, so I had to stop taking it.

The FDA does warn about such issues being possible, as well as nausea, mood changes, dry mouth, and weight gain.

Additionally, it usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for side effects to improve, so they usually will not subside in just 8 days. In some cases, you do have to take a lower dose for a longer period of time, then slowly titrate up.

How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Yes I am feeling much better now. The problem turned out to be that I was out back on the generic instead of brand name Cymbalta! Switched back 5 days ago and already feeling much better!
