Cough And Breathing Issues
UpdatedI was prescribed Ciprofloxicin July 2016 after a dormant uti infection was eventually diagnosed in left teste following major back surgery..lower frontal entry.... After taking first tablet on a Friday tea time by the Saturday I didnt feel well, by the Sunday I could hardly breathe/draw breath. I couldn't get a doctors appointment until mid week. I had my asthma medication changed...I have had asthma 19 yrs following a long chest infection not felt with which developed into pneumonia but had no problems since first got inhalers. The change in inhalers I first thought were helping, I also have had three courses of steroids and a few antibiotics.... I was told by a nurse practitioner at a second visit that a senior gp had said he wouldn't have prescribed Cipro for me but when asked if should stop them she said continue, she is now backtracking and saying she told me to stop them... I have had a constant cough, bringing up sputum and breathing problems since which are progressive. I have had three chest xrays...all clear, but no CT scan as yet. I have had a spirometer, said normal and an ECG..normal. But I continue to have breathing/ cough and chest infection type feeling and feeling generally unwell when had been feeling ok apart from uti in tests.... Appreciate any thoughts ??

I am not a doctor, so I can't say definitively, but it seems like you might be experiencing some allergy symptoms, outside of asthma. The NIH does list the symptoms you've stated as possibly being due to an allergic reaction.
My husband recently experienced this, though he never had such environmental allergies, or hay fever, before in his life, and his is now 45. We all change with time, so it is always possible to suddenly develop a new allergy, or other medical condition.
Are you on any other medications? Do you use an inhaler for your asthma? Have you had allergy testing done?
I agree but often something that triggers initial reaction. Looks like it was Anaphylaxis reaction to medication Ciprofloxicin, young locum Gp did not look at history, weakened immune system or ask if taking any supplements such as zinc. As stated in previous posting, existing inhalers for asthma were changed. Seems from research and body's reaction, to now be a lung problem, lung inspection soon, seems initial reaction was not dealt with in manner should have been. Looks like fluids in the arteoli/ frothy sputum, oxygen/carbon dioxide mix in blood to lungs which can be caused by congestive heart failure, "not this time" allergy's or medication poisoning.
