Good post Hikmer!

Another FYI, sub docs are only allowed a hundred patient max which made it tricky to find an opening. And understanding where the last rant is coming from that you could afford dope but want to cry about the costs, I'm sorry but when the choice came for me to ease my withdrawal NOW or wait until two weeks to pay for my first sub appt, which one do you think I choose???

I've come across anywhere from 800 a visit to free if you stay clean, absolutely no relapse tolerated for THREE MONTHS, which if you can do that you don't even need subs.

At least the initial appt needs to be much cheaper, that would make it more realistic. If my grandparents hadn't paid for the first one, I would have never been able to afford it. In the beginning I was paying close to 700 a month for script and appts, sorry to burst another bubble but after spending the equivalent of several upscale homes in several years on dope, I didn't, and still don't, live comfortably. It's usually a toss up with paying my doc appt and meds or buying food, which after this long I usually opt with living off ramen noodles for awhile. I understand your frustration, and you may have somehow maintained financial stability while using, but the majority of us didn't so don't be so harsh please.

My Obama care payout is ridiculously high and considering my physician for subs DOESN'T accept any insurance I would be paying 250 a month, and more for my insurance coverage to cover my script then what I pay out of pocket now!

I was an avid supporter of Obama and now I feel like I was a sucker. The only change I've noticed is my spouse's work insurance go from free to five dollars a week to 300 a month! Now laid off he HAS to still pay the 300+, how the heck is this BETTER THEN BEFORE? !

get on Oboma Care. They're free

Look Obama care is no where near free for myself and most people. ..maybe you're thinking of Medicaid, which a lot of people don't qualify for as well.

Ash-perhaps you need to talk to a ACA broker.

A single person can get Obama care for less than $70 a month with copay of $20 and meds for $10.

Families pay under $200. MUCH less than private pay.

If you don't qualify for this, you certainly qualify for state aid.

Call your state agency or a local ACA broker for free help.

We make too much to qualify for any Medicaid or state assistance.

Like I said before, we were quoted at 300+ a month, compared to the amount beforehand, 0-5 dollars a week, we refused to sign up. Thankfully or when laid off we would still be required to pay. We spoke with the appropriate people and I'm not sure why people still insist on arguing what I'm positive I was offered.

I'm confused. Do you want insurance? You're required by law to have it now...

If you are denied state assistance, you have what's called a "qualifying event" and could be insured as soon as 6/1.

Speak to your state assistance office to get a QE access CODE to get Obamacare.

It's cheap and pays all but $20 for your rx

Yes my fine is much cheaper yearly then what we would be paying monthly. No I don't need insurance, are you an Obama rep or something? I have the distinct feeling when his term ends the first thing to take effect is a veto of your beloved Obama care. Furthermore this is a thread to help addicts whether with advice or real assistance. Not that to sell or market insurance to the already indentured. Please take this argument to a more appropriate forum.

Ash-there are multiple people discussing it. ONLY YOU don't want to and that doesn't make it a veto item on the forum.

It's unfortunate that you're angry. That's not a reason for me to be silent or less happy about what I've received through Obamacare.

ANYTHING that gives us better access to what we need is allowed. And obviously others ARE gaining great benefit.

I'm not a rep, just a very grateful citizen who has been under insured for 10 years.

I can finally breathe, knowing that my medical bills don't eat up 50% of my earnings each month.

If you're only paying $300 a month as a family, be grateful. Cobra wanted to charge me $485 a month as a single!!! :)

AND you have 2 incomes. You're truly blessed. You have backup!:)

I'm single and my yearly income is considered below the poverty level. I actually sat down with an insurance agent friend of mine and went all thru the healthcare gov site looking for the best plan for me. When it was all said and done I pay 130.00 month. For 45 subs/month including 50 dollar card it cost me 235.00.

It kind of made me laugh. I,m not poor but in the eyes of the goverment I am because I,m not making 45 grand and up yearly. The only thing I like about Obamacare is that I got insurance with a pre existing condition. I,ll be needing to have some surgery done in the future.

Hey TJDavis, I don't know if a pharmacy will sell you subs individualy with a script. They might sell you 3-5 days at a time if you find one that will work with you.

I don't see anything in my messages that seems even slightly angry. My suggestion was for you to take this insurance information to a different forum.

You can create your own with whatever topic you choose. I was trying to state that Obama Care is not workable with our family and there's nothing wrong with it working out for you and not me.

Obviously you missed the significant information where we don't have two incomes, we're both laid off. I didn't qualify for unemployment,he does so we went from paying NOTHING for health insurance, to five dollars a week to under Obama Care 300 a month. I still don't understand how you interpret that as a savings in any way.

What I'm probably coming off frustrated about is you trying to tell me what is best for my family financially and assuming we had opted into Obama care we would be giving one of his entire weekly checks to insurance now, instead we're able to eat, thank God.

Now please stop arguing,we've crunched our numbers, it doesn't work for us, it helped you, awesome for you, but with us and the majority of people I speak with their monthly costs have skyrocketed with no significant change in coverage. If you want to create a forum devoted to helping those who may benefit more power to ya, but don't be nasty or condescending because they didn't have the same outcome as you.

Ash-no one is being argumentative but you. I apologize that I misread. I thought you said IF you got laid off...my error.

I was explaining the May exception that i got that can help other people RIGHT NOW. How is that condescending?

I think perhaps you're projecting. My experience is that nearly everyone I know did better with the new plan, ESPECIALLY if they used an approved broker to use their subsidy to lower monthly payments.

I truly hope things get better for you. You can call 211 on your phone. It's the United way. They have a list of agencies near you for prescription, food and mortgage/rent and utility assistance, so you can get your meds.

If you don't accept help, perhaps others can use this info...

Best of luck.

My girlfriend has CalOptima and it didn't cover the prescription. Now we didn't go through her primary doctor (who is horrible as I expect many of these doctors are going to be under ObummerCare) so perhaps if a primary is willing to subscribe these, then you may get it paid for...but they seem to shy away from anything that is difficult or complex...best thing you can get under his care is 800mg Advil...

Hikmer-As of some point in 2014, your PCP won't write pain management drugs in most states, including Suboxone.

They will only write for short term use like a broken limbs, etc., which have a specific documented healing time.

Ask for a referral to a specialist for prescription and oversight. Too many PCPs are getting their licenses pulled for overprescribing, others don't want the hassle of constant oversight.

Verwon can quote the specific part of the new law, but I THINK (am not 100% positive) that we all have to be with pain management docs this year.

I'm thinking that all insurance will be in compliance with the DEA.

Yeah but in the end if you are tying to help out someone in need, the amount of red tape is unreal...it is easier to score the dope then get the treatment...that is the real shame. Seeing a primary and then getting a referral in the ObummerCare system takes a long time...most folks can't wait that long for the help and fall back into their old ways.

Hikmer-lolol. You make a point, I guess.

It depends on one's goals. I researched pain specialists near me. I'm pretty pro-active.

I'm getting the Anthem/Blue PPO option on 6/1. My PCP will make the referral at our next visit. Wait time to see specialist-2 weeks.

I dont want to score on the street. I want real pain management paid by my insurance.

I want to be able to advocate for myself and not have any weirdness come up.

That's just me..:). Everyone should do what's right for them, of course. ..

It just bothers me when I hear people say that you can't get taken care of through Obamacare. There are loads of people to help us navigate the system and make it more affordable.

Ways we don't know about when we try to just get insurance ourselves.

Oh my lord Sara...I think you're totally missing the point that myself and others are trying to make. And as a recovered addict nothing is lolol worthy when Hikmen describes how difficult it is for addicts seeking assistance to get clean. Coming from someone who attempted suicide just trying to get in somewhere and get help or just end it, I find you both uneducated and insensitive when you laugh at what is a death or life struggle.

I honestly request you move on with this argument, if you'd like to discuss something pertaining specifically to doctors who prescribe suboxone for pain management there are several forums open already for you to use. And back to your never ending promotion of Obama care, most addiction specialists are only out of pocket/up front and do not accept insurance.

In closing, just go elsewhere. Please.
