Has anyone suffered from ringing in ears from Contrave? I'm going insane :(. but losing weight :)

Yes, tinnitus is among the possible side effects that are listed by the FDA. Other symptoms you may experience could possibly include nausea, dizziness, constipation, headache, upper abdominal pain, irritability, rash and muscle strains.

How long have you been taking it? Most side effects are transient and will taper off in severity as your body gets used to the medication and will go away entirely after about 4 to 6 weeks.

yes - please beware this was one of the most horrible experiences of my life...I started contrave - was on it for about a month and started experiencing ringing in my ears...it became so loud that I couldn't even hear...I immediately stopped it, but the ringing persisted for two solid weeks...it was awful, I wasn't sure it would ever go away...the ringing was so loud my head started pounded...finally after two weeks it subsided...I was not told this could be a side effect - i would never, ever have taken this drug if I knew that I would have such an awful experience, nothing was worth what I went through....please beware

I have ringing in my ears really bad, don't know if it's from taking the Contrave, but it's driving me mad

I've been taking contrave for over a month. The ringing in my ears started about the third week and it has not let up since then. It has actually gotten worse. The doctor told me to drop down to three pills a day and it should get better but that hasn't happened. I'm now afraid the ringing will never stop. Of all the side affects listed this one is low in the list. I just hope by stopping this medication the ringing will go away. Be careful.

Only 3 first pills in and ears have rung and amplified. Not sure I can bear with it. Disappointed ... I am not liking the waves of nausea or the heavy low feeling headaches.

I have been on Contrave for almost 4 months. I only take 2 in the morning and 1 at night. I have terrible ringing in my ears that makes me dizzy. I am going to drop down to 1 and 1 but I did that in the past and was not losing as much. I'm disappointed but I may have to go off of it entirely. With that said, I am doing WW and using the ScaleDown scale and app. I think those are actually working better for me. I will pay for the subscription for both.

Yes, I have ringing in my ears. This other side effects have mostly gone away but this one. So I hope to wait it out. I have lost 27 lbs.

Dont want to upset anyone but the ringing in my ears from taking contrave returned even after I went the medication...it fades into background most of time but is still there....i cant say for sure it is from cobtrave but started when I began medication and never stopped...i would be wary of this drug

I have been off contrave for months due to the ringing in my ears. I have never had tinnitus but was diagnosed after I couldn't stand the noise anymore. I wonder down the road if we will see a legal suit by consumers.

Yes, I have severe ringing in my ears. I even asked my doctor and she told be to take two in the morning and two at night. Now it is even worse. So I decided to look on line and found several who have the same issue. What if it does not stop? I am going to stop taking the pills today.

The ringing in my ears from contrave never stopped after being off of it for more than a year..
this drug should be banned from the market it wreaked havoc on me!

Stopped medication ringing has never stopped sorry to say...it has been almost a year..i just dont think about it but it is there

I am only into my second week on contrave and the ringing in the ears started when I started taking 2 a day! Constant buzzing wondering if I can continue on it.

I am so sorry to read that all of you have had the maddening hissing or ringing in your ears. It is a somewhat lighter version of the ending crescendo of The Beatles, A Day In The Life. I thought it was just me getting old. I eat right and excersise, I only wanted to take off 20 lbs. But if the side effect is this maddening ringing then I will stop taking this pill tomorrow. I sincerely hope that I didn't cause any long term damage. I'll come back and visit this page in the coming days for any updates.

Yes after I took 2 pull I had ringing in the ears,nightsweats and could not sleep. I stop taking them still have the ringing in the ears it has been 27 hour since the last pull when will it stop.

INSANE!!!! It's doing the same to me. I believe it's the antidepressant in it. The welbutrin did it to me forever. People think I'm joking when I say the ringing is in my head not my ears!!

How long were you on it prior to this? I’ve been taking for three weeks and stopped because I noticed the ringing when I upped my dose last week. I’m hoping it wasn’t too long.

Today is the beginning of my third week taking Contrave; my dosage has now increased to 2 in the morning and 2 before bed. This morning was the first time I recognized the ringing. I'm one of those people who reads ALL the fine print and I immediately remembered that "ringing in the ears" was listed as a possible effect. I'm going to see my Doctor next week if it doesn't stop.

I stopped taking Contrave last summer after I could no longer stand the ringing in my ears. Fast forward 1 year. My ears are still ringing. Am having to take medication to relieve the anxiety it causes. Some days are worse than other. Today I am at my wits end. I am an auditor and trying to concentrate is nearly impossible.

Tramadol is causing my ringing of my ears. Must be a common side effect of a lot of Pharmaceuticals as Contravene causes it as well. The part that worries me is even after going off Contrave I’ve read that it did go away. I am being weaned off my medication and the ringing is not going away.

I have been off the medication for over 6 months. I am now mostly deaf in 1 ear and still have constant ringing. It never went away. When the Dr gave me the list of side effects tinnitus was not on the list. I found out through the FDA.. Its likely my hearing will never return :C.. I'm not even 40 deaf in 1 ear with constant ringing from Contrave but I lost so much weight. So sad for 2 reasons... At least I have 1 ear and I lost 67 lbs but I cant lost all my hearing to lose the 85lbs I still need to lose. I have other medical conditions (hypothyroidism for one) which make weight loss a nightmare.

I started taking Contrave in November. I became ill, upset stomach, diarrhea, and my ears started ringing. I stopped taking after a month and still have ringing in my ears. Is there any cure for the ringing?

I also have gone thru the early nausea and the heavy head feeling. The Tinnitus showed up after my first month in....its annoying. Plus I had it before due to heavy loud music.... it's worse with this drug. But I think I was good at ignoring it before so I'm also waiting it out. Staying busy and not staying inside my own head has helped....easier to say I know. The other side affects subsided when I took the pills with food and plenty of WATER....People that is really important! Eat fiber for the constipation....CHIA Seeds are awesome! Lost 20 lbs in the first 6wks :) and I never thought I could lose....I'm a hard case, mentally anyway.....I wouldn't stop this drug if I had to pay twice the amount. My goal is to lose 35 more before summerish 2018....that will be a total of 55 lbs in bout 6/7 months. I will try to repost here at that time.
