Contrave And Weight Gain
(Newest replies first)

I've only been on Contrave for 4 days and I've gained 6 pounds. My legs, feet and stomach are swollen, so I assume it's retention of water? Anyone else had this reaction?

I am one month into Contrave with little to no side effects, but I haven't lost any weight. In fact, I have gained a pound this morning. What's with that?
I found Contrave to be a bad idea. When I started taking it I got really bad migraines and felt nauseous everyday. The cravings were terrible. For something that is meant to be an appetite suppressant, I found it did the opposite. Since stopping Contrave, I have gained more weight in one month than what I put on in a year.
I was also hoping for so guidance. My appetite has definitely been cut. I don’t think about food. I don’t snack at night at all, like zero. Before Contrave, I had a candy stash in my nightstand or ate some pretzels but it was something. Now, I just go to sleep. I’ve been taking Contrave for a week and a half and gained almost 6 lbs. WTF. I’m drinking water, I’m in a WAY better mood. What is happening??!!!

Hi Cindy - this is exactly my case - word for word, it's like I wrote it. I don't see a reply - I would love to get some answers?
I to have gained weight since the 3 weeks I've taken contrive not sure if it's turning fat into muscle or just making me fat, thinking I'm going to discontinue the pills bc its just unexplainable, researched to see if any doctors posted about the possible weight gain but didn't find anything
Hello everyone, I am at the beginning of week 5 and have not really lost any weight. Maybe a pound or 2. I had a hysterectomy about 2 years ago and put on about 30 pounds ever since. Was hoping contrave would help me lose this weight, but maybe this medication won't work for me. Any suggestions of why I am not losing weight and what I can do to help? I've always eaten healthy and exercised.
I have been drinking a ton of water since I started the meds last week. I would be sure you are drinking a lot. That will help with the fluid retention.
The FDA does list that as a possible side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, irritability, nervousness, and insomnia.
Have you consulted your doctor? That is always the best thing to do to be sure. Such rapid weight gain can also be a sign of other potential risky health issues, such as congestive heart failure.
Are you on any other medications?
