Please help me? My mum is 84 and started Sertaline 50mg about 8 months ago and she turned a corner and was working ok. To cut a long story short, I do her meds for 2 weeks at a time, and I ran out. I ordered them from the Doctor but forgot to put it in her pack. It was only after I Started to notice confusion, panic, brain fog, palpitations and feeling fluey that I Realised what I had done. I put her straight back on it but she went cold turkey for 2 weeks. She has been back on it a week but the panic and confusion is still there in bouts. I am distraught at my mistake. I mentioned it to the Doctor who advised as least we know what is causing it. Any ideas how long this may take. She lives with us but when we go to work the anxiety starts.

Hello, Donovan! How are you?

It may take a couple weeks for things to level back out and for the symptoms to go away.

Alternatively, you could speak to her doctor about raising her dosage to perhaps help them clear up faster.

The typical side effects of this medication, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain.

Is there anything else I can help with?
