Hi,

I was given Invega Sustenna at 100mg a month for 10 months since Dec 5th. My last shot was on August 29th 2013.

The medication gave me severe anhedonia and I have lost the motivation and willpower to do anything. I can no longer experience joy, happiness, or pleasure from anything I do and I have no interest in doing anything. I constantly feel restless and uneasy and I just can't shake this feeling away no matter what. All of these started about a week after my first IV.

I have been off this medication for almost 3 months now and I have yet to feel any improvements. I have read that it has a long half life of 25-49 days and that it can stay in your body for 300 days. So does that mean I will have to wait a year to start feeling better?

Any info on someone who has been off this med would be greatly appreiciated. I am interested to learn how many months it takes to feel better after invega sustenna.

Hi Johnny no I'm not feeling any better. I feel hopeless. I'm down only 3kg I have another 6kg to go. It's really getting me down this weight thing.

Hiya Carly. Are you feeling any better, lost any weight yet and did you get a cortisol test? I feel a bit better but I reckon recovery will take a year at least.

I reckon again it's the medication. Can't feel effects of alcohol, can't loose weight, can't cry, can't feel pleasure ... cause this has taken away all that. I curse the ground those doctors walk on...hope they can sleep at night.

Wow. Yeah when I drink I dont get drunk either. Its weird because I look s*** faced but my mind is sober. I even get hung over the next day!

4xdrew. I took the injection and lost all feelings. For example, I had a bottle of wine tonight and I can't get drunk. The medication has numbed me that much.

Oh wow well atleast you've started loosing some weight. Did you take the injection or pill form?

I discontinued Invega in May I have put on 8kg and I need to loose it bad. I've recently lost about 2kg but it's hard loosing the rest of the weight about 6kg. It's the worst torturous medication I can't believe what it's done to me at all. I want it all to go away

Carly, I honestly gained 5 lbs the month after discontinuing it on March 7 and have stayed the same weight since. But its so annoying cas I have cellulite on my ribs that I never had before, and man boobs too. I hope once the drug is out of our systems we can loose the weight. Are you still on Invega?

Are you saying you are off it 300 days tomorrow. And your still no better? I'll have my cortisol checked. I know that my prolactin is sky high. This has gotta be the worst. I want answers as to what warranted this under the mental health act. They never told me it was going to be this bad. This has gotta be the worst ever feeling. I can't even loose weight and I'm trying. Hormones are stuffed up. They have a lot to answer for.

Hi Carly. I was reading that invega changes your cortisol levels when it's high you have more prolactin which puts the weight on or only get a cortisol test ? It's a slow recovery, 300 days tomorrow, and still not right, but better than when I was on it. {edited for privacy}

HOW CAN WE LOOSE THE WEIGHT!!!! I wanna know too. I have only lost 2kg of water retention since coming off the drug. I gained 8kg in total. So I have another 6kg to go. Having a high prolactin doesn't help as it clings onto fat. High prolactin clings onto fat......

Hi I've been off Invega Sustenna for 6 months, since February, and I have not lost any of the 27lbs I gained from it. I know still have another 4 months left for the drug to be out of my system. Will I lose the way I gained once its out of my body? I've read about people who lost the weigh gained by Risperidone after discontinuing it.

The weight is the saddest part of the side effects and also the loss of libido and sexual dysfunction. That and not being able to consume alcohol in th way I used to. Every pleasure in life ... it's killed all three...I don't have my figure, I have zero libido and can't enjoy a wine. I can't lose the weight easily cause of the hormone prolactin. Same with sex drive. Can't do much with a high prolactin and my body is numb to alcohol cigarettes and other. Every pleasure in life has been taken away with this poison.

So comforting to know I'm not the only one suffering. Also good to know I'm not the only one who can't get a hit on alcohol even. My body is just not the same anymore. It really sux. Anyway let me know if u would like to personally talk sometime. I could give you my phone number I'm in NZ too.

Hi Carly, I'm sure we'll get better, just takes time. Though I just can't believe how horrible this drug makes you feel. Mental health meds are supposed to make you feel better. Even after a couple of bourbon I can't even feel it. What a s*** drug. It just makes your mood miserable and boring.

Yeah it has certainly caused s*** in my life that poison. It certainly has caused a lot of crap in my body and this has gotta be the worst of the worst feeling as if I haven't got much else to do but feel this way. I don't wanna be here anymore feeling this way. Not at all do I wanna feel this way anymore. Invega has ruined my life. Ruined it to the point of no return.

How did you loose the weight!...my hormones are that stuffed that nothing seems to be working...did u do anything different. My hormones are too up in the air.

Me, i guess i could handle a joint but it's expensive and illegal here etc. Cannabis triggered my psychosis but i got a lot of insight into myself since then. Seems pointless to use something else to fill same empty feeling.

Please be very careful with street drugs and booze etc.

Hope and patience but mostly i hope we never take that poison shot again : )

I can't even get drunk it doesn't go to my head anymore. The poison has numbed me that much. I tried a bottle of wine and nothing...no tipsy feeling no nothing. My dopamine levels have been killed off I have no feelings left at all. Not even an inch of feeling tipsy. I say we do street drugs then our dopamine might come back. Just saying...if they won't fix it with meds might as well fix it ourselves.
