Clonidine - How Long Does It Take To Work

I went to the doctor for an unrelated issue. BP was high 200/95. Might be situational but she had me start a regime of .1mg of Clonidine 2 times per day. Took the first one at 7pm. BP was normal at 6 am. Can it work that fast or was my high BP situational?

Clonidine is known to work well and fast, but it wouldn't take it down to normal that fast, so it could be that your elevated blood pressure was situational.

However, regardless of that, you do need to take something to prevent it going that high in the future, because that's a very dangerous level to hit that creates the risk of heart attack or stroke, unless your doctor okays your stopping it.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Clonidine as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and insomnia.
