I have some Clindamycin 75 mg tabs left over from cat's recent illness. I would like to know if these exact same tabs can be given to dogs as well. I know my dog has had Clindamycin in the past. Why would a dental surgeon recommend a round of this antibiotic during the follow up to wisdom teeth extraction? This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. But the question is whether or not the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the study......

Prescribed 150mg clindamycin 4x/day for throat infection. Have taken 4 doses. See sores on the side and back of my throat. Am very concerned. Do I stop taking it. ## To be honest, it is most likely that any sores you see have been caused by the infection, rather than the antibiotic that is intended to clear it up. I have some expired clinamycin it is 5 and a half years old. Is it any good at all? ## No, after that long of a time period, it has most likely lost most of its effectiveness and should be disposed of properly. Not only will it be very questionable at treating any infections, but it can severely increase the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Are there any other questions or comments?

Saline solution may be used, in some cases, but usually these symptoms are of short duration, because they only last while you're taking the antibiotic and they don't really require treatment, unless they are severe. In most cases, someone can do quite well just by upping their fluid intake slightly, you may want to drink something like Gatorade that has electrolytes.

My 13" beagle is 17 yrs old. Has a heart condition. Upper left molar became inflamed. Age and condition of dog id if'y at best for operation. Was given Clindamycin 75 mg 2x a day. this is to reduce swelling of location under left eye. I can not find anything that says this would reduce swelling. Will anything else reduce swelling for the dog?v ## Clindamycin is an antibiotic used to treat or prevent infections. Thus, the swelling is probably caused by an infection and will reduce, as the antibiotic has a chance to work to clear it up. As to anything else you can use, I am sorry, but I am not familiar with the use of most medications in animals, so I don't know what would be safe or effective. Have you tried asking the vet?

I am currently taking this and clindamycin/HCL for a infection after surgery that has been slow about healing and very swollen and a little red my questions can you also take medication for heartburn with this because I have bad heartburn at night and it is keeping me awake I have perscription medicine for my stomach but I do not take it regularly also would it be ok to quit the clindamycin I only have 1 more pill to take? ## You should finish the full course of the antibiotics, even if it is just one more tablet, to ensure that it can reach its full efficacy to help fight the infection. i beleave i contracted soething at a kungfoo place, i am not vomiting, every thing is going through like water, i fella little sick but not bad, for three days now, starting to feel little weak fro no food but no fever, i have rx692 from a cut on my leg some time back, could this help ## Have you considered seeing a doctor? In most cases, food poisoning doesn't require any type of medication and only needs supportive therapy, to ensure that the person affected doesn't get dehydrated. An antibiotic, such as Clindamycin, will only help if it has been caused by some type of infectious bacteria and, since they can actually cause diarrhea, as a side effect, they are usually only prescribed in such case when it is absolutely necessary.

i have an artificial hip. i need to premed with clindamycin..had a root canal and i premeded and was given clindamycin to take for a week...i didnt pick up the prescription for about 4 days. i have the new, but i had some left over from 20006 and thought i would use those up first. i have been doing that, but am afraid that they are no good and that i may be getting an infection in my hip and joints from not taking the good stuff. i started taking the good new medicine tonight..but i am having joint pain and i have like a large hive near my shoulder joint. i am scheduled for the 2d part of the root canal next tuesday. i know i messed up. can someone tell me if i take the good stuff for the full treatment of 6 more days and have already taken the old stuff for 4 am i at risk of overdosin...
