Debbie, they begin to lose efficacy at around 18months old, so you will not get the dosage you need if you use a prescription that is that old. You should see your doctor for a new one.

clindamycin is a licomycin antibiotic used in gram psoitive and anaerobic infections. it is a narrow spectrum being useless against gram negative bacteria but has a seriuos side effect of AAC usually caused by the bacteria C.difficle.

by the way AAC is antibiotic associated colitis its a complication of antimicrobial therapy.

Can clindamycin be used for a serious fungal infection / athlete's foot with deep cracks in skin? It's for a diabetic patient who's foot is hard like leather and black.

Clindamycin is not generally used for such infections. It is an antibiotic, not an antifungal. Something like Metronidazole would be ideal. Also that sounds bad. Perhaps the patient you speak of should seek urgent care.

It depends what kind of infection it is. I would definitely see a doctor ASAP about that.

I don't see any reports where taking Cialis with clindamycin is contraindicated. It should be okay. Note that Cialis can cause diarrhea which could potentially exacerbate the onset of AAC/C.Difficile as noted by Rob above (posts #7 and #8) when combined with clindamycin.

RE: the original post; I was given clindamycin once for a bacterial infection related to a toe injury. I couldn't take it. It caused me excruciating stomach pain. However clindamycin is prescribed for a plethora of infections, some as minor as acne or folliculitis to extremely severe infections such as flesh-eating disease and toxic shock.
