Hello Lesa,

I may be able to help you but I might need a bit more information regarding the pill. Does the pill have any markings on it? I won't be able to give you an accurate answer without that information. Just in case I will provide you with some useful information to make a more informed decision on what it might be and how you may want to deal with it.

In the U.S. the FDA requires that all controlled medication be identifiable through it's marking/imprint. If this medication does not have an imprint we know that it isn't a legally controlled substance. Over the counter medication, vitamins, supplements, dietary pills and candies/mints etc. do not have to be marked. This leads to a number of issues with being able to identify this pill but it does let us know that it isn't something controlled by the FDA.

Regardless of if the pill is a controlled substance or not, you have the correct mindset in not taking medication that you do not have a prescription for or know that it is an over the counter product. If you are in enough pain that you need to take pain killers I suggest you either consult a doctor to see if they agree and will write you a prescription or you can simply take your preferred over the counter pain killer such as Tylenol or aspirin.

Best of luck to you.
