Mail order changed my citalopram manufacturer from Amneal to Aurobindo. Have noticed side effect after the change. Should this be happening? Anyone els have this issue with manufacturer change?
Re: SongMon (# 97)
I had the same experience, the only one that worked for me the same as Dr. Reddys was Mylan. Good luck
I have been on citalopram made by Torrent for years. I recently switched pharmacies due to insurance chance. My citalopram is now made by Dr Reddy. I feel horrible. It’s like I am in a brain fog and sometimes feel like my head is moving but it’s not. I am having brain zaps and surges. I don’t know what to do.
Re: Mark (# 121)
Hi Mark, The same thing happened to me. I've been taking citalopram manufactured by Aurobindo for close to 2 years. Last week, Kaiser gave me citalopram manufactured by Mylan. The citalopram manufactured by Mylan does not work on me. I learned that they have the same active ingredients but different inert ingredients. I called around to other pharmacies and discovered that Walmart pharmacy has the citalopram manufactured by Aurobindo! I had my prescription transferred and they are currently filling it. Hopefully, Kaiser gets it back soon but I have a plan if they don't. I hope this info helped you.
Hi, my name is Mark and I'm experiencing the same. My provider Kaiser changed to Mylan and it's not working for me. They said they can't special order any. Please help. {edited for privacy}
For last few months, I was on Escitalopram 20mg -mfg Accord (round pill) and was experiencing "brain zaps", which is usually a discontinuation side effect, but shouldn't be happening when you take as prescribed. The most recent pharmacy refill is Escitalopram 20mg -mfg Aurobindo (oval pill) and I have had no brain zaps so far over the last week. It is amazing how different the binding agents can be from one mfg to another! FYI- I take it for anxiety and panic attacks; age 42; medicated for over 10 years (btwn Lexapro, Citalopram & Escitalopram). Main/significant side effects have been flat-line mood, IBS, and VERY frustrating very, very low libido }:-( I never had an issue there until I started taking the anti-anxiety med, libido disappeared within a month of taking Lexapro, and has never really returned. :'-(
Most pharmacies use multiple manufacturers and change frequently. Most of the time I did not notice anything but a couple of times I had very unpleasant side effects. Like when I miss a day of pills. I do not think it is that one mfg is better than another, but the change from one to another that can cause those side effects. My pharmacist now, Cub Foods, makes sure that I get the same manufacturer every time. Sometimes they have to special order it.
Re: SongMom (# 116)
Same problem with me. New pills dont work! Oh, i know thry say theyre the sane bit they are not!
Yes JC,
Posted this last year as my Escitalopram (Lexapro) was changed to Aurobindo and it gave me heart palpitations and bad anxiety, turned things upside down in my life. Either they skimped on active ingredients or the fillers they used set things off. Others have written about this and I found a link and posted it on this site somewhere to let the FDA know. Try and get another manufacturer from the pharmacy, sometimes they accommodate. For me, I use brand name Lexapro which works but is crazy expensive. Good luck and be well.
Walmart seems to have changed it again. It’s a different label on the bottle, the manufacturer or factory appears to be different, and the NDC # is TOTALLY different. The pills themselves look identical except the new ones have a deeper score in the back. Anyone know if these really are the same pills or not?
I have been on the new pills from Walmart for a month now. The pills LOOKS like Dr. Reddy’s but the name on the bottle is International Laboratories. I am doing well except for one particular side effect... my muscles feel like they are in spasms. I get this “vibration” like feeling, especially in my thighs, when I’m lying in my bed at night trying to sleep. I will also feel it in my abs, my chest, and my arms. It started after the meds change so I’m assuming that’s what is causing it. Anyone else feeling this?
Re: Roy (# 1)
Actually there is some difference in the active ingredient. I have read that the FDA allows concentrations from 80 - 125 % and still considers them “standard”. They say statistically there is no difference. The official scientific studies may draw that conclusion, but real-life usage does not bear that out.
Re: SongMon (# 112)
I can’t thank you enough, I just started mine today so let’s see.
Well I’ve been on the pills from Walmart for about five days. I feel pretty good, but I wonder if they have changed the formulation some. The color is slightly darker pink and last night I could TASTE it. (Bleh!) I’ve never had that happen before.
Re: Hushula (# 110)
Utah
I think it’s the same manufacturer but a different distributor.
Re: SongMon (# 108)
Yup, that’s the same one. Which state are you in if you don’t mind? If I can’t find it here I can ask the Walmart here if they can transfer from your store.
Re: Mike (# 94)
Mike I just had the same exact thing happen to me at Sam's Club. Mylan works great for me. After 2-3 months on Torrent, I felt terrible and couldn't figure out the reason. This month by chance, Sam's split my script 1/2 Mylan, 1/2 Torrent. I started the Mylan first and felt amazing after 3 days. BTW, I have no insurance. I pay $4.65 a month for the generic. Can't beat it but I may have to switch pharmacies because Sam's says they will no longer carry Mylan :(
Re: Hushula (# 107)
NDC 5448-980-16 with the 980 in bold (if that matters). Do you know if it’s the same number as before? I didn’t think to keep one of the old packaging.
Re: SongMon (# 106)
Really? I’m going to have to call them. Can you give me the NDC number off the bottle please?
Re: Hushula (# 102)
Update. Walmart is getting what looks like the same pill but they now come in a bottle instead of a 30 day blister card. The pharm tech was telling me the manufacturer name has changed? I think? I couldn’t really get a straight answer out of him. They do have the same stamp as Dr. Reddy’s so hopefully they are the same. I will give them a try and see what happens.
The manufacturer for my Citalopram was recently switched to Torrent Pharmaceuticals and I find myself experiencing major itching throughout my body. Also, one side of my tongue developed a bump which is very sore. Can this be a reaction to the new manufacturer of this medication?
