Mail order changed my citalopram manufacturer from Amneal to Aurobindo. Have noticed side effect after the change. Should this be happening? Anyone els have this issue with manufacturer change?

Yes, but mine is the opposite. I took Amneal for 7 years, and tried Mylan, and it was like I wasn't taking anything at all. I felt horribly anxious, agitated, sweaty and shaky.

I'm so glad I came across this thread. I've been on citalopram for about 3 years and have had wonderful results. My depression and anxiety were pretty much gone. 2 weeks ago I picked up my prescription to find they looked different. I called the pharmacy because that had never happened before. They told me they had just changed the manufacturer, so I thought nothing of it and started taking the meds. In hindsight now I realize I started feeling more anxious around that time. But now, 2 weeks into taking them, I'm a complete mess. Panic attacks, feeling of severe dread, crying and depressed. Back to where I was 3 years ago before starting meds. I was dumbfounded until I remembered my med had changed. Started googling and found this! I just called my pharmacy (Walmart) and told them what happened. The pharmacist told me I shouldn't be feeling this way because the ingredients are the same, regardless, he said he had some of my old pills and would fill them for me today. My question is, how long until I start feeling normal again? Will the other polls have to build back up in my system for a while like when you first start taking them? Thanks for any responses!

It took me maybe 3-4 days to feel better once I got my old prescription back. The severe drowsiness is gone. Night sweats and confusion gone. I feel great. I can workout and am working on removing the belly I gained on the Mylan. That said, I always do everything I can to help a prescription work. I drink a lot of water, work out, and eat well.

Yes I had 2 packets in October and November last year I went into uncontrolled withdrawal symptoms and ended up having three weeks off with work related stress. I have accepted voluntary redundancy from work as a result.

I have noticed the change too from amneal to aurobindo and also now changed to Milan and the best one was first one I took by manufacturer amneal was on it for 2 years then changed and so tried the other now am on my lab absolutely don't like!!! How cN I get back to having amneal???!! Must have had a lot of complaints-don't you want patients to feel well-please respond!!!

I am having the same problem. When Walgreens flipped manufacturer to Mylan from Amneal for citalopram I have had increased heart palpitations and headaches as well as "internal" tremors, I couldn't figure out what was happening until I stopped to really think about it and realized these symptoms started with the change in the manufacturer. I know doctors and pharmacists say there is to difference and I USED to believe that Until a few years ago the FDA pulled a high blood pressure pill OFF the market do to terrible reactions. I have a lower dose left from Amneal and I am starting that up again today and then looking to replace all chemicals with CBD oil from the Stanley Brothers and their strain of Charolletts Web I have had it with big Pharm screwing with MY health!! Hoping and praying CBD oil will do the job!

I tried to start on target's citalopram manufacturer is tenet something like that-had terrible side effects the first day! Felt like I was taking an addictive drug!!! Dizzy, change in my moods was very crabby and terrible headache still have it today can't tell me doesn't matter all manufacturers same No Way!!! Hope I feel better tomorrow. Something really should be done about this I know I am not the only one who doesn't feel well mentally and not great for someone who is 2 and a half years sober don't need agitation and problems with stress no thanks to all these different manufacturers giving us medication that is not correct-thanks all for sharing pass it on!!!

You sound like you write this for me. I tried 1/2 tablet and was better then lot of crying and down. Went back to whoever pill snd this make me think of wishing I was dead. I am waiting to hear from my doctor for s change.

I have been so sick for the last 5 days because if this issue. This is the third time I have had this problem. Mine is so bad that I was in bed for 3 days! Ridiculous! ! I feel like I'm having withdrawals. Awful!!

I have the same problem wit citalpram when my brand is changed. I seem to be inly really normal when I take the Almus brand. My chemist did write it on my prescription and I've been OK for a while but then chemists change and the message gets forgotten and I end up with another brand,

I cannot take the generic of Celexa, causes major depression in 3 days, so take brand-name. No problems for a long time. Recently started having various problems, checked side-effects yesterday, all problems right there. Took good look at pills...different color and size. Figured must have reformulated, different side-effects than I remember. Called pharmacy, they said there are now different mgf. for brand-name. Now trying to find MY Celexa. Must go off this one cold turkey due to side-effects. This is ridiculous.

My doctor insisted I take 10 mg. of Citalopram since I was cutting the 20 mg. in to 1/4's. The pharmacy did not tell me they did not carry 10 mg. of Aurobindo Citalopram. The brand they filled was Torrent. I only took half of a 10 mg. Torrent Citalopram and the negative side effects from it were awful. I felt like a zombie (out of my mind) from taking 5 mg. of Torrent Citalopram. I let the pharmacy know how badly I felt from taking the Torrent Citalopram and they offered to give me a full refund!

The drug manufacturer is Torrent. I experienced the same things you did. I had been taking Citalopram (Amneal) 20 mg (I broke the pill in half), 10 mg. Walgreen's switched to Mylan and they did not even tell me about the switch from Amneal to Mylan. I had my doctor call in a prescription for Citalopram 10 mg. to my local grocery store and they filled it with Citalopram Torrent 10 mg. I had never had any negative side effects from the Amneal Citalopram, but experienced many negative side effects from only 5 mg. of the Citalopram by Torrent. My warning is for everyone to avoid Citalopram by Torrent!

I have been on Celexa (citalopram) for many years. I noticed that I was getting angry quicker, depressed really easy, more tired, like it wasn't really working and I couldn't take more as I am maxed out at the 40mg. When I went to pick up my refill, I asked the pharmacist if they had changed manufacturers and they had. I tried it for another month and the same symptoms got worse. I changed to a different pharmacy and they had a different manufacturer and that brand worked like the old one. My husband is a BioChemical Engineer and when I shared my concern with me, he told me that it could absolutely be different even with the same generic ingredients/molecules but he said the difference comes that each manufacturer's shape of the molecule could be different and your body may not recognize that different shape. He gave me an example of a medicine that has say 5 ingredients. Some put them together in a zig-zag pattern, another might have the last ingredient turn back towards the first one. I was getting back to "normal" when our insurance no longer allowed us to use CVS so back to Walgreens I went. Same thing happened again. My doctor and I tried to get the brand name but insurance won't cover it. I called the pharmacist and explained the situation and he ordered both manufacturer brands for me to try that had worked in the past. The pharm tech told me no they wouldn't do that when I asked months ago, but my nurse told me to talk to the pharmacist personally and he was more than willing to help. Hope this helps!
