Chronic Pain Patients Must Get Organized To Lobby For Their Rights. (Page 8)

Updated

People with chronic, intractable pain are being discriminated against and it is imperative that we join forces to fight for our civil rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Please send information on existing associations and organizations that can help or how to establish one that can help pain patients fight for their rights with petitions, letters; emails to send to these state and federal politicians that are determined use prescription drugs, doctors and pharmacies to further their political careers. Drug abuse is not the same as opiate dependent because of chronic pain management and there are over 100 million people living with pain and many of us are unable to live without medication. If the deaths from abuse seems high, the suicides from pain patients that are unable to get relief will be significantly higher. If we do not fight these governors (Colorado's Hickenlooper is a perfect example) and federal agencies that are discriminating pain patients we will be even more victimized. Obviously these politicians no little about pain and they are not aware that chronic pain patients are voters. The statistics used to support their claims regarding deaths from prescription medications are seriously skewed and lacking in additional factors that contributed to the deaths. Compromising the doctor/pharmacy and patient relations is not the government's job; as John Boehner stated government needs to stay out of healthcare and let the trained healthcare professionals make decisions regarding their patients not some politician looking for recognition.

Re: BL (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

This is just another attempt at prohibiition with spineless doctors afraid to assert themselves for fear that they might
lose their licenses.

How long till people get that addicts don't want to quit and they won't? Instead they'll go to the black market that the goverment is creating by attempting to cutoff supplies.

I just don't understand why this cutting of supplies is always the action when someone loses a child. Blame the mothers of their addicted kids for this mess they should know better. They should've been better parents and maybe their children wouldn't be suffering so bad that they resort to drugs. I know how dare anyone blame crappy parenting yet that's always the underlying cause.

No matter how many billions of dollars are spent on treatment centers unless the addict wants to quit no money in the world and no pleading for them to stop abusing to save their lives will matter. Has anyone been paying attentionn to the War on Drugs?
How's that going?

Anyone remember the show Addicted on A&E Health? Most of them are dead or reabusing even after rehab they go right back as soon as they get out of rehab. It's only the pressure from all those people that get's them to go to rehab when it's obvious they really don't want to.

It is a great pain med except when you are allergic to it.

It was that mother who lost their child to heroin that caused this mess so you'd better be prepared to show children suffering from chronic pain except there's nothing to see. It's hard to get empathy for something people can't see. I guarantee that Michael Foxx et el aren't having any trouble getting their pain meds. We have 2 tiered health care just like our 2 tiered Justice system.

But there's an idea. Get someone like him to be the face of the campaign.

It's the doctors that won't stand up to the DEA. Two doctors out of thousands here in my area of roughly 60,000 people were charged and lost their licenses and since no doctors know anything but the propaganda they don't know if their prescribing will draw attention so they stop prescribing because some doctors that they don't even know got their licenses pulled.

If marijuana gets legalized the DEA will be largely out of business so they have to create more work.

I agree with what you said in this post. But, I've also read in many places do not give out your personal information regarding your position on pain meds because it'll come back on you in the form of the DEA knocking on (or down) your door. Any thoughts?

Follow the money. FDA is a legal killer with government’s blessing. To believe they have a person’s health interests v. Big Bucks is sheer nonsense. It’s disgusting and shameful.

I just told that person to start by getting a petition and after that there will be others in his area who will join in... So I don't understand what your reply to that comment was about?? My

I REALLY don't think that any agencies are going to come knocking on anyone's door for some comments posted on here or anywhere else for that matter.why would they? Do you really think that they care? If they did, we would not be here in the first place. Now if we were in North Korea, maybe, other than that, no..

Oh my, sounds so familiar. Family & some friends, they just haven't been in our shoes. I do know my Dr is doing his best too but the good ole Gov is becoming too constrictive & too close for comfort. Pretty soon I will be relying on extra strength Tylenol for my pain.

Oh my heart goes out to you!! I am taking similar meds and dreading the day when they stop either one of these medications because you know SOONER OR LATER they won't let use Pain People be allowed to take two pain medications at the same time, holy cow. I mean should we get relief or something!! They do NOT understand WHY we are taking the medications, let alone understand the medications-short acting and longer acting-just for example. We are NOT sitting in our car abusing it or whatever it is addicts do & pass-out. Hope you get ur needed relief.

I read on a pain website that of course the DEA wants to track all prescriptions. And, if one were to stand up, as we should, and say give me my meds, the DEA would have the information. I agree with you to get involved, but some say it's making it easier for the DEA to keep track. I didn't mean to offend, just saying... I'm trying to find the website and the post. It gives me the creeps. Is the America?

Good, let the DEA track people with chronic pain. I’ll file a FOIA and every media outlet should be contacted to do the same as well as each of us invoking the Privacy Act and call on Congress with the drug companies who used to make those medications that enabled us to live fuller lives. The DEA is the last of my concerns and if they are in fact collecting information on people who use medication as directed by physicians and who don’t care what regulations that infringe on the specific doctor-patient relationship they are not immune from Congressional Oversight. In fact, I would ask Congress personally to look at the lives suffering and the lives lost for reasons of Free Will...not deceipt by drug makers or overprescribing. The DEA works for us citizens, the day it doesn’t is the day we don’t live in a democracy. I believe President Trump will sympathize with our rational positions instead of sensational stories of overdoses where the drugs were almost always obtained Illegally. I say start a Mass email, phone and letter campaign to Congress and the white housing and FDA and DEA. Ask your local attorney friends and media outlets and ward or alderman to file FOIA lawsuits if any hesitation or pushback is noticed. I don’t think that the DEA CAN DO ANYTHING, we are citizens basically peacefully coming up with ideas that get them refocused on illegal drugs. They also can be sued for intimidation and harassment if anyone has evidence. FOIA should also be sent to any health agency and law agency working with the DEA. Also state legislators have a great deal of power. Now is not the time to cower. Fear nothing when you are on the side of what is right!

We do NOT have an opioid crisis. We have a drug abuse problem crisis that we've had for a couple hundred years and corrupt politicians trying to make it seem like people self-medicating, stealing opioids is a criminal act separate from the drug problem in America. Tens of millions of law-abiding, responsible Americans taking opioids as part of their pain management programs and politicians making opioids a raison d'etre for re-electing them to supposedly solve a manufactured problem. I too have seen doctors prosecuted for trying to help people with chronic pain. We also have a suicide crisis in America and I'll bet the farm a lot of it has to do with people in chronic pain that cannot find a doctor who dares to prescribe a painkiller for fear of an over-zealous prosecutor.

After fighting for the same pain relief through the same dosage of 10/325 Endocet 4x/day for 12 years, I decided to try the CBD oils. The doctors wouldn't write prescriptions for me anymore and other places started the medical extortion scams where they wanted me to take their shots to receive the prescriptions.

I have 8 disks in my back that are messed up and two sections bone on bone from an old construction accident in 1985. And two failed surgeries! I've tried all their shot options and only had one that worked in 1994. After that, they were a waste of time and caused even more pain to get those shots. (I heard that the doctor who was giving out those shots in 1994 lost his license after many patients were dying. Either from bad steroids or over-treatment of those injections)

When I decided to use the Medical Marijuana products, I had to go through the Illinois background screening, fingerprinted and registered with the FBI, wait about 3 months to get the Medical Marijuana Card, and limited to one dispensary to buy the real CBD oils.

The pain management doctors seemed to disappear after the so-called crisis started. (If they could have collected tax dollars on the opioids, there wouldn't have been a crisis). They do tax the Medical Marijuana, which shouldn't be legal, since it is used for medical purposes. But as we all know, the politician's and lawyers need to receive their kickbacks in some form to allow their decisions for making the Medical Marijuana legal.

The CBD oils do help relieve the pain better than the opioids for me, but the costs are higher since the insurance doesn't cover it yet. The real CBD oils do have some very small amounts of THC, but not enough to feel "high" on. They do have other products that have higher THC levels, but those don't interest me. I have heard that some cancer patients have been doing a lot better with the higher THC level products. Even some that have had their tumors and cancers disappear!

When I started with the Watson brand opiates in 2005, that worked great! And I never got "high" on the pain medication and I never increased the dosage. I received enough pain relief to sort of have a better life. After Actavis bought out Watson and changed the formulation, a lot of people got sick from the new anti-abuse fillers and little pain relief. I think that happened around 2014. A year later, I had my gallbladder removed, which probably failed due to the new fillers they added to the medication. It was great for the shareholders, but terrible for the end-users for chronic pain management. Now that has all gone to Allergan. It's all about MONEY!!! And us chronic pain sufferers have to suffer even more for their out of control MONEY CRISIS!!! GREED!!!

So now I have successfully weaned myself off the Endocet and only using the CBD oils for pain relief.
It does work great for me, and other's that I have met who have also stopped using the opioids and only use the CBD oils for their pain relief. Didn't they say that marijuana was a gateway drug to the harder narcotics? I guess a lot of us that switched to the CBD oils and quit using the narcotics proves that they lied about that too!

One big thing they never talk about is that a lot of the drug overdoses and deaths could be due to mixing alcohol with the opioids. I've read that that will cause respiratory failure and the drug abusers suffocate. I don't drink any alcohol so I'm not sure about that.

Dealing with chronic pain is not something we wanted, but to have us end up in more pain because of the street junkies is a crime. Or could all this be a blessing for some of us to switch over to the CBD oils and find out that the oils work better for pain relief than the opioids?

I have also started physical therapy, which I couldn't do before with the opioids. I have also found out that the opioids have caused more damage to my body over the years, but a lot that can be fixed with physical therapy. It will take some time, but I'm glad that I quit the pain pills and tried the Medical Marijuana CBD oils.

I just wonder how long it will be for the street junkies to ruin the use of the Medical Marijuana when they cause a crisis there too?

Maybe if people here shared a more detailed response on how well the opioids did help them at one time will give stronger support in fighting BIG PHARMA and GOVERNMENT on what they have done to cause more harm and damage to us real chronic pain sufferers with the so-called crisis?
