I'm getting a colon test done and can’t take blood thinners. Is Atorvastatin or Felodipine a blood thinner? Should I stop taking them prior to my test? ## Hello Ann, Technically no, neither medication is a blood thinner. According to DailyMed Atrovastatin is a medication to lower cholesterol and Felodipine is used to treat high blood pressure by blocking calcium and relaxing blood vessels. Despite this both medications caution you to not take this medication prior to surgery. I strongly advise you contact your doctor to see if and when you should stop taking this medication.

I am 38 years old. My triglycerides 664, HDL-29 and LDL-133. My doctor advised me to take Fibator tablet containing atorvastatin 10 mg and fenofibrate BP 145 mg. for 3 months course. Four months back my triglycerides was 321, HDL-31 and LDL-133 then my doctor I had used these tablets for 3 months as per the advise of same doctor but the triglecerides levels are increased from 321 to 664. I've been taking the generic brand of Zetia for 2 months now and I have never felt more lousy in my entire life. I have pain in my left shoulder that goes all the way up my neck. It's almost unbearable. I feel like I can't breathe because I am so stuffed up. I cough so bad and I'm so fatigued every day that I don't even want to get out of bed. I have lower back into my upper thigh pain as well as shoulder pain. These pains seem to be in the muscle. I also have a bit of diarrhea after starting Zetia. I have taken 5 other types and they have all had some sort of reaction in me. Please let me know what is going on with you. I've been taking simvastatin for about 4 months and have had a really bad itchy skin reaction, but nothing is relieving it. I do not see this posted as a side effect. Not using grapefruit juice, what else might it be interacting with to cause this great discomfort? ## I've been on simvastatin for over a year. Several months I contracted an itch. My PCP doesn't think it is the medicine, but I do. I feel like bugs are crawling under my skin. I have stopped taking it for a few days and the itch has subsided.
