Can nicorandil be a source of substance abuse? what are its effects ## Nicorandil is a vasodilator that is most commonly used to treat Angina. I am not sure how or why it would encourage anyone to abuse it, it's side effects are not of the pleasant or enjoyable kind and may include: flushing, weakness, heart palpitations and mouth ulcers. Are there any other comments or questions?

I picked up a generic for Tiazac and the generic is dark green. Is this a safe generic? I can't find out anything about it on the internet. ## I really can't tell you anything about it or confirm what it contains just from the color of the tablet, I'm sorry. It is actually the markings on the tablet that tell us what it is. Did you get it from a licensed U.S. pharmacy? If so, then there shouldn't be a problem, as they are only allowed to supply you with FDA approved generics. Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker that is commonly used to help treat high blood pressure and cardiac problems. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and dizziness. I recently started on Ranexa 500 mg bid. I have noticed that my migraines, previously triggered by exercise, wine, chocolate, have ceased. Has anyone else had this experience? ## Ranexa contains the active ingredient Ranolazine, it is used to treat angina or other causes of irregular heartbeat. I am not a doctor, but my theory is that all those things that you mentioned can also possibly have an effect on your heartbeat, this could mean that when they did that, you weren't getting enough oxygen and that can result in severe migraine like headaches. Using this medication, so you now have a better rhythm could mean that they are no longer causing this problem. Are there any questions or comments? ## I have been taking Ranexa for angina for the last year and a half, and I have also not...

we have swithed pharmacies and were given a differant pill than we are used to. Is there a differance between diltiaz er (cd)180/24cap actav eliz and diltiazem 180? ## The difference listed for the dosage, since the Diltiaz ER CD is listed as 180/24 leads me to believe that it is not the same medication even though I can't find specifics listed anywhere. Such a dosage, usually denotes that it contains 2 active ingredients and, in such cases, the Diltiazem is often coupled with another medication to give better blood pressure control. I just can't find anything that lists what the other ingredient is. If it were me, I'd return to the pharmacy and ask them for specifics on exactly what it contains, because if your doctor didn't order a change to the medication, they should...

I'm concerned if Ranexa is addictive I'm taking it for angina. Two tabs a day. ## Ranexa contains the active ingredient Ranolozine. It is not addictive in the way that narcotics and Benzodiazepines are, however, your body will get used to and dependent on any substance that you ingest regularly. This includes anything, such as your morning coffee or orange juice. It is, however, very important that you do not stop this medication or lower your dosage without consulting with your doctor, instead of just minor withdrawal effects, you could experience rebound issues with your angina.
