Can I try Nifedipine instead of Amlodipine. If so what is the dose to start with? ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? Both the Amlodipine and Nifedipine are calcium channel blockers, so if one hasn't been working for you, the other might not, either. In this case, you should consult your doctor, because you might be better of trying a different class of medication, such as a beta blocker.

a Dr. prescribes nifedipine 20mg slow release three times a day for a customes is it safe to give him/her 20mg of the immediate release three times a day ## I would suggest doing so, without their doctor's approval. Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker, which is most commonly used to help treat angina and replacing the time released medication with an immediate release could result in their getting too much of the medication at once, which could cause an overdose. Are there any other questions or comments?

It has now been substituted by Angispan TR 2.6 mg to be taken at 10AM and 4PM. This medicine also gives me such a sever headache which mimics cluster headache sysmptoms and left temple area throbs and hurts like hell. The medicine could be purchased only in 2.5mg variety as chemist says it comes with that strength only. The pain is unbearable. What should be done to resolve this? Can I stop this? Should I bear this pain extreme pain for few more weeks and s...

I am a heart patient. I had the first attack in 2004. I was under medication for six months. I myself discontinued the medicines and started taking half of trika SR one mg daily. I am doing fine. There was no problem. However, sometimes I feel Angina when I do some heavy jobs. I would like to know 1. Shall I continue taking triks. 2 Will there be a side effects. 3 Can take this as an alternative for other medicines.
UpdatedI have been prescribed above tablets by my GP as I have suspect angina getting very breathless and tired but no pain. I had an angeogram done about 4 years ago and put on heart tablets then. My problem is that I have low blood pressure and need B12 injections every 3 months for Pernicous anaema plus lots of other health problems. I am nervous abuot taking this tablet. What do you think? ## In this case, I would suggest having a discussion about it, with your doctor. Isosorbide had been known to cause hypotension in roughly 4 to 5% of the people that take it and, if yours is already low, it might create the risk of it dropping too low to be safe. They may have some ideas on how to counteract the possibility, such as increasing your fluid intake. How low is your blood pressure? Has it bee...
I`am taking nifedipine 60mg my doctor told me to increase it by 30 mg if the top side was over 151 so i did. I want to go back to 60 mg i monitor my bloodpressure each day ## Have you consulted your doctor about going back to the prior dosage? Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker and it, as well as most other blood pressure medications, can cause rebound effects if the dosage is lowered or the medication is stopped suddenly. These effects can actually result in your blood pressure going higher, for several days and can also cause elevated heart rate. So, in essence, the dosage usually has to be lowered slowly, which is why it's best to discuss it with your doctor on the proper amount to lower it by.
