Why the headache? ## This medication, which is a generic for Monoket, is most commonly used to treat angina pectoris. And the headache is a fairly common side effect, it happens to many people that take it and, in some cases, has caused them to have to stop taking it, because they got so severe. It may also cause tiredness and sleep disturbances. You can learn more Isosorbide Mononitrate details here. Are there any other questions? ## I just started taking this drug two days ago my headaches are horrible is there anything I can do for them.......will heat help they told me to take ibuprofen but it does not help much....

My patient is on Cardizem CD 240mg daily and metoprolol 25mg PO BID but can not swallow cardizem and pill shouldn't be crushed i imagine. what can i order instead. BP runs 160/ 90. Ptis 93 years old ## Hello, Anna! How are you? It would be best to consult the patient's doctor to let such decisions be made as to what else they can prescribe. There are various factors that need to be taken under consideration for what can be prescribed. What other medications does the patient take? What are their health conditions and overall health status?

I've been on Nuzak for 4 months now and stopped using it about 5 days ago. Last night I had this pain between my breasts and my gums, can it be a side effect? Otherwise I feel fine. ## Hello, Mandy! How are you? Where was the pain located? Your breast and gums are quite far apart. Did you mean chest pain or mouth pain? If you stopped taking it suddenly, then yes you may experience withdrawal effects, but if you're having chest pain, you need to have that checked out as soon as possible.

Have been taking NIFEDIPINE ER 60 MG for years and my pharmacy is now supplying a pill NIFEDIPINE ER 60 MG which is a mustard yellowpill round much smaller and with markings of B on one side and 60 on other. Are these tablets identical as have been able to find any info and could be coincidence but my breathing has become much worse ## Hello, Eugene! How are you? Yes, that is the correct medication, this tablet also contains 60mgs of Nifedipine in a time released formulation. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and headache. When was the last time your blood pressure was checked? If you're having trouble breathing, you need to have it checked out, because that may be a sign of congestive heart failure.

Cardizem is the name brand, is that right? Plus there must be MANY other names that are Generic but they are all the same, is that right? 1. Cartia XT 2. Diltizem ER (XR/XT) 3. Dilacor Xr. Plus each manufacturer has a different colored pill for the same thing, is that right? Just got a new prescription for Diltizem ER (XR/XT) and it is a peach and light pink large capsule - once before it was a pill and before that it was an orange and white capsule called Cartia XT. I wish someone could reassure me about what I'm safely taking. ## Hello, Joyce! How are you? Yes, these are all just different names for Diltiazem in an extended release formulation, however, the generic is actually just called Diltiazem, since that is the actual drug name. This medication is a calcium channel blocker t...

I have a prescription for Galaxdar capsules, for use use against a chest pain that I've been having for years. But I would like to know if this is a safe medicine to use, giving the list of side effects associated with this medicine ## It's not used to treat angina, if that's what you're having. This isn't the correct medication for that. Was it prescribed by a cardiologist, or your regular doctor?

I accidentally have my husband 60 mg of nifedipine twice today. Will it hurt him? ## How is he doing? Did he suffer any adverse effects? Anytime something like this happens, it is best to contact the prescriber, or poison control to be sure of the person's safety. While there are those of us online that are happy to help, if we can, we cannot administer life saving procedures, if they'd be needed. Doubling up on a medication such as this could cause hypotension and dangerously lowered heart rate.

Beginning about 15years ago, I became aware that I was having palpitaions, later diagnosed as PVCs. It appeared to me that they were slowly becoming more frequent over this time period, but dramatically increased about 2 months ago. Approximately 30% of my beats were PVCs when I wore a monitor for 48 hours about two weeks ago, but no tachicardia. 15 years ago I was only having periods of frequent PVCs about twice a year, and they only lasted a couple hours each time. Way back then, a doctor prescribed atenolol (sp?) for another condition. Upon taking it I immediately started having continuous periods of PVCs that lasted the entire three days that I took the medication. (I discontinued.) During this recent long period of PVCs, I was prescribed a small dose of Metoprolol (Met) daily -- 12...

Hi, I am 17, and I am facing some problem since 3 months. I suffer panic attacks nearly every week. I feel heavy at my chest, and suffocated in the morning when I wake up. Whenever I feel such heaviness and suffocation it makes me dizzy and unable to walk, I fall asleep unknowingly, and the chest pain is unbearable. I showed to a doctor, and he prescribed TRIKA-0.25 and PAN-D (both are said to be schedule H drug), I am taking them since last month, and the dose is to be completed now, but my problem isn't yet solved. The interval between the pains and attacks are increased but they are still there. I hope I'll get some help here.

Doctor increased dose from 180 and BP still not budging. Have large red bruises on arms, even small hit will cause great blood spots. Can this be the Dilitaz? ## Hi, Keith! Sorry about the problem you're having. And yes, that could be due to an issue with the medication and you need to contact your doctor about it as soon as possible. They'll need to check it out to ensure that it's not a serious health complication starting and you'll most likely need to switch to a different medication. I'm not sure why they just increased the dosage, if it wasn't working to begin with, then just trying a different medication is usually the best approach. How long have you been taking it? ## I was taking TAZTIA 180 for a long time, and it didn't really help much, then Dr. s...

pills r white...no numbers letters or scores...bottle brown glass 1-1 1\2 inches long white metal lid but too worn to tell what was once there ## Hello, Jen! How are you? From what you've said, I get the impression that they are quite old and with no markings or identifying label, it's going to be difficult to determine what they contain. Years ago, many patent medications were packaged like this, which makes it difficult to even guess if it was a prescription or over the counter product. Does anyone else recognize these? I'll keep looking and post back, when I have information for you. ## I found an old brown glass bottle with a p and a d on the lid. It contains these tiny white tabs with no markings or scores. Is isosorb dinitrate10 mg a form of nitrostat 0.4mg ## Hello, Smit4car! How are you? No, these are two different medications. Nitrostat actually contains Glyceryl Trinitrate, better known as nitroglycerin, much esteemed for its quick action in treating heart issues and being able to be taken as needed. But Isosorbide is used mainly to treat angina and it is a medication that is taken regularly to prevent, not to just treat once an attack starts. Is there anything else I can help with?

From the color, I think there may have originally been an R on the other side, so this could be a 60mg Isosorbide tablet, it's used to treat heart conditions such as angina. Headaches are its most common side effect. Is there anything else I can help with?

What tier drug from the drug formulary is diltiazem ER caps 240 mg - also what tier is Verapamil SR caps. Thank you. ## Drug formularies aren't universal, so I can't help you find any information, without knowing what health plan you use, so I can search for the correct formulary. Any given list and tier can vary from one to the other, depending on their internal policies and coverage. Can you post back with more details? ## I am going to be on Medicare effective June 1, and am considering AARP United Healthcare plan F. I will need RX coverage, and am trying to find what tiers my prescriptions are. The on I can't find is Diltiazem Er. Is there a difference in tiers per insurance companies?

I have been taking Diltiazem 30 mg twice a day for over a year now for atrial fibrilation. when taken in the morning i become weak and dizzy, it impacts my bike ride severely and this has been getting worse over time, used to ride 3 x week 30 to 40 mi. now down to 20 2x week, when I skip it's better, HR 70/90. dr insist I continue same protocol, also take waterpills, furosemide 20 mg. and Klor-Con 20m to balance Magnesium. ## Hello, Paul! How are you? It's likely the Furosemide that's causing the problem, what you're describing are symptoms of dehydration. Diuretics lower blood pressure, but they do nothing for a-fib and if it's causing you to be dehydrated, your a-fib could actually be made worse. Why does he have you on it? Have you considered consulting another do...
