Cannot Find A Pharmacy To Fill Oxycodone 30mg Near Detroit, Mi...help Please? (Top voted first)

My husband received a script of Oxycodone 30 mg a few weeks ago from his surgeon and I cannot find a pharmacy to get them filled at. They mostly say they do not carry them or they are on back order. I have called everywhere. Any suggestions? Anyone know a pharmacy that carries it? Thanks in advance.

A FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME THIS SAME STORY ABOUT GRISWOLD PHARMACY IN DETROIT. HE HAD BEEN WITH THIS INDEPENDENT FOR OVER 5 YEARS. HE WAS TOLD THIS SAME STORY. SOUNDS LIKE A VIOLATION OF THE AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACT. DISCRIMINATION AGAINST PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY; IN THIS CASE PAIN. I"M JUST SAYING . . . ALSO, I MUST ADD, THEY'RE PROBABLY EXPERIENCING ORDERING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR WHOLESALER AND ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WITH THE DEA. MEANWHILE, WHO SUFFERS? THE PEOPLE WHO AREN'T ABUSERS; ARE IN PAIN AND THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN ARE UNABLE TO FIND A PHARMACIST TO FILL THEIR LEGITIMATE AND LAWFULLY PRESCRIBED PRESCRIPTIONS.

Walmart usually carries them.. It's a good idea to get to know your pharmacist and when you continue to get them there that you talk to the pharmacist about making sure to have some on back order for your next refill.. and always call ahead before you fill your script to make sure they have them... That's the Walmart in california.. but I would think any Walmart would carry them..also try Walgreens...

I have called every pharmacy in metro Detroit. No one has them. They are on back order still.

To Reasonswhy: That may be partially true. The reason I say this is because CVS and Walgreens are just as reluctant to help as the independents. I have six prescriptions. What good is it for CVS, or Walgreen's to honor my five prescriptions and not honor the controlled substance prescription? I am prescribed this medication for a specific reason. A legitimate one, chronic pain. Currently, I am with an independent. She is beginning to act rather strangely, questioning my doctor's therapy, attempting to limit my amount of medication. All this, after 3 years. I am not an abuser; never have been. I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to continue to take someone else's lumps; but I will own mine. Actually, this is a violation of the American Disabilities (ADA) Act. Our Federal DISABILITY RIGHTS are being VIOLATED and ERODED by the misinformed PUBLIC, and in most cases, intimidated doctors and pharmacists who lack the backbone to speak up to the DEA about the unfairness to the law-abiding, non abusing patients I'm not talking about the crooked ones. I'm tired of picking up their tabs.

I had an experience today at the pharmacy I have been going to every month for ALL my scripts along with narcotics. I am 62 on pain mgmt. due to failed lumbar fusion. I entered..the pharmacist shouted "what do you need" which I would NOT yell my meds across the counter! He looked at the script and saw my doctor had changed me from Oxycontin to Oxycodone (MUCH CHEAPER) and I am currently weaning off this med so easier to work with. The pharmacist goes...Oh no!! Not THESE! and 120!! not today....MAYBE Monday and you KNOW you have ti refill all your other meds!!! I told him to give me my scripts and I WILL BE BACK TOMORROW to discuss with the pharmacy manager!! NO ONE is going to insinuate Iam an addict..he is not going to mis qoute the MICHIGAN LAWS and he is. NOT GOING TO DISRESPECT ME!!!! HE PICKED THE WRONG OLD LADY WITH A WALKER!!!! MORE TO FOLLOW.....

Yes there is a bunch of shady Pharms along 8 mile and Coolidge area which all of course are on the Detroit side and had many friends have similar incidents as you as well.

I wish I knew what to do about the ongoing problems with pharmacists trumping our doctors prescriptions. I had been using the same pharmacy for all of my prescriptions for almost 2 years when the pharmacist threw my script for my pain meds on the counter. He said since the prior month I had transferred my nexium to Walgreens, that he wasn't going to fill my scripts again.
I told him your pharmacy was out and I needed my medicine. I am tired of being treated like a criminal. It's not enough to be in pain.

Last month my pharmacy didn't have my medicine. I drove to several pharmacies and one Walgreens had it but wouldn't fill until they talked to my doctor. I told her I have been using Walgreens for several years. They should have my information on their computer. Also insurance doesn't pay for this without authorization and if they ran it, they would know. They refused, looking at me like I just held a gun to someones head. This has to stop. Who is giving these pharmacists permission to play judge and jury, when we are just trying to manage our pain?

I'm sorry. You clearly don't have a clue. Until you've had chronic pain, you should keep your opinion to yourself. You are not a doctor and you sound like the ignorant people who we all come in contact with when we're just trying to fill a prescription. A prescription written by a neurologist specializing in pain. If you knew what you were talking about you would know they require most to see them once a month, with random U/A's. My pain is so bad that I can barely make it to the pharmacy. So when you're refused or treated like a criminal it's ridiculous. Bottom line: No one in a pharmacy should ever judge or be allowed to turn away a patient with a legitimate prescription.

They normally won't tell you over the phone if they have it. They don't want to get robbed. It's ridiculous, but I have chronic pain and am used to being treated like a criminal. When you're in pain that's what you feel like doing is driving all over to fill a script... Walgreen is the only drugstore I know of that carries it, but if you have a hospital that has an outpatient pharmacy, they will have it for sure. Good luck.

YES CHECK OUT ANY CVS,WALGREEN,WALMART OR SAMS CLUB YOU NOT GONE FIND THEM IN DETROIT THE HOSPITALS THE ONLY PHARMACY IN DETROIT HAVE THEM IF YOU NEED HELP GOOGLE IT IN THEY TELL YOU WHO GOT THEM ITS GONE BE A DRIVE

I just got a script for oxycodone 40 mg and I am clueless as to where to find them. I just moved here from Baltimore and never had any problems getting them. If anyone knows where I can go please let me know. I live in the downriver area

I was having trouble but recently found Walgreens mail pharmacy. Its based in Arizona. Taken a week or so but they always have the pills i cant get here. If anyone wants the number let me know. Email me {edited for privacy}.

I have been using Walgreens mail pharmacy out of phoenix as they charge my insurance and always have the meds that places out here don't have.

I suggest calling your husband's surgeon and asking for the script to be written differently. Possibly 5mg to 30mg every 6 hours...and a larger number of pills in the bottle. That way he could get his 30mg dose or use less if possible.There are also other combination medications that work well. I live with terrible chronic pain. I use oxycodone for breakthrough pain and forget with codeine as my routine pain medication. Fioricet contains Tylenol, caffeine, and a muscle relaxant butalbital. If ordered with codeine I am fairly sure it will help your husband.
I wish you luck. Also, in my state oxycodone has to be a written script and it will expire if not filled within 30 days. I suggest you first find a pharmacy that has the lower dose pills prior to calling the surgeon.
