Candesartan - Terrible Back Ache And Joint Pain

I have been on Candesartan for about 3 to 4 weeks now (8mg) in addition to Amlodipine. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon as I have awful back pain and joint pain. I can’t do any housework or get on with my life as I feel so rigid. Can this happen on Candesartan?

Hello Louise,

Since I don't know the specific brand that you are taking I only researched the side effects associated with Candesartan in general.

The follow side effects are listed on the NIH website, I have highlighted the ones that are relevant to your concerns.

Side Effects:

runny or stuffy nose
sore throat
cough
back pain
joint pain
stomach pain
diarrhea
headache
dizziness
tired feeling
feeling like you might pass out
chest pain
swelling in your hands or feet
slow heart rate
weak pulse
tingly feeling

Joint pain and other pains are associated with this medication so it is possible that your pain does come from the new medication. You already stated that you have a doctors appointment so there really isn't any more advice I can give other than you should mention this at the appointment.
