Can You Take Bentyl With Xanax?

I just started taking Bentyl for diarrhea, but I have been taking Xanax for anxiety.

Now I'm feeling very dizzy. Should I stop Xanax?

Hello Ern,

I'll start by giving some helpful advice. Any time that you are taking prescription medication it is a good idea to contact your doctor prior to taking anything else, even if it is over the counter medication for something that may seem rather urgent.

According to the cvs drug interaction checker this combination of medication may increase the sedative properties. This is a moderate drug interaction and shouldn't be cause for a great concern generally but I don't know your entire health history or medical status. Since the Xanax is the prescription medication I would suggest you don't stop taking that medication and instead stop taking the Bentyl for now and discuss your concerns with your primary care doctor to see if you can continue taking both.
