There's nothing in the bible I read that states that taking your own life will send you to Hell. It may indicate that a person may need to take a close look at the relationship he has with his creator but an "unforgiveable sin", I don't think so. I believe the bible actually states that the only unforgiveable sin is not accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Unfortunately, some folks that profess Christianity would be wise to follow the teachings of Christ and quit interjecting and imposing their own opinions on anyone other than themselves.

Irishlady,....the thing is if THEY are reading this THEY meant to do this. Believe me...Been there THOUGHT that and decided I didn't want my kids or mom to find me. If you are asking these questions, please go to the emergency room. They will help you. You are not the only one out there feeling this way and there are medicines that help. even if you think you are strong enough, medicine is not a crutch or weakness, it is empowerment to keep your life in control.

I too am suffering from depression and feelings of hopelessness. I am a follower of Jesus and am trying my best to live the life he wants me to live. There are times I feel I am beyond hope and beyond grace, but I fight everyday to continue. To do better than the day before. I can honestly say that I still have days where I wish the pain would stop, the fears, the doubts. I am going to take my life tonight. I am so tired of the pain, the rejection, the lies that people tell. They say they care, that they love and value you, but in reality they don't. The trauma of childhood sexual abuse is just too much to bear. I have asked for help, but it falls on deaf ears.
I pray that God will have mercy on me!

I wasn't going to reply to your post but then I saw another post directed at you and changed my mind. When I first read what you wrote it reminded me of a pastor at a church my husband worked at (not our home church). After I was discharged from the hospital following a suicide attempt, he wanted to talk. What did he say? Basically that I just wasn't praying enough. If I just prayed enough and asked God into my heart, then I would be healed. I left his office shaking. I did ask God into my heart long ago and he's still there...it's just that all that other crap is too. I am a Christian but I can also say that God doesn't just "take away" the crap and all of a sudden make me feel like I have something to live for. Wish it worked that way but it doesn't. Maybe you haven't experienced bad enough mental illness to see that a prayer doesn't take it all away and then everything is roses.

Yeah...I can tell you've never experienced the pain of severe depression or suicidal ideation. Glad you're not the only one I wiuld have to go to when I was really struggling.

I think that having to suffer when a loved one passes, no matter how they go, is horribly painful. But to blame a suicide on the deceased is ridiculous. Obviously, the suicide was intended as a relief from intolerable pain and anguish. I wish I were dead every day. I've done everything humanly possible to change my situation. I don't control the universe or society or the doctors. The only reason I continue to suffer on earth is to save my loved ones from having to suffer if I were to take my own life and that is just because society has selfishly stigmatized suicide. One less slave to work for the 1 percent who control the world. But, really, loved ones are going to suffer anyway, as they witness me suffering from an illness which will rob me of my dignity in the end. The choice is never easy. If I could afford assisted suicide, I would go that way.
