Can I Take An Anti-depressant With Chantix...

I have been on chantix for 3 days and im not sure if i can continue taking this medicine.. i have been extremely emotional... fighting with everyone that comes near me.. everyone is on my last nerve.. i just grabbed a knife and threaten to slice my arm... is this drug doing this to me... can i take an anti-depressant with chantix... I currently take loritab, soma, anti-inflamatory for a chronic back pain... i asked my doctor if it was okay to take this medicine with all the others that im on and he said it was fine.. i feel really weird.. cant stop crying.. somebody help me..

I am very sorry to hear about your experience and I have been going through the same thing. I quit taking it a couple days ago because I was so emotional and driving my girlfriend crazy not to mention myself. I actually found myself crying out loud by myself and I am 32 and don't think I have ever done that other than when I lost a friend or family. I am two days out now and feel so much better already. My suggestion would be to quit taking it asap, but make sure you taper off.

If you want to quit and need an anti deppresent I would suggest Wellbutrin. I stopped for 9 months after only taking that for one month. I would have staied on it but it started to make me dizzy all day long.

Wellbutrin is not a good antidepressant, it does help you stop somking but it makes you mean and not who you are. I am also trying to find answers before going to the doctor because I do not have insurance but is it ok to take chantix with atenolol?

There is no way to say that any one antidepressant is better, or worse than any other. What works well, with minimal side effects for one person may cause serious problems for someone else that tries it. Therefore, you really have to work with your doctor and it's pretty much a matter of trial and error.

As to which ones you can mix, that is dependent on the specific type of antidepressant and the dosage, so you also have to consult your doctor on that. However, if you have something specific in mind, I can check the details for you, if you post back with more information.

There are too many suicides by people on Chantix. It is dangerous and should be pulled from the market. It does not have good efficacy and there are lots of civil suits out there because of the misery it's caused. Get off it slowly but get off it and read the book the easy way to stop smoking by Allen Carr it so worked for me. Good luck and be safe. I survived an attempt at suicide and almost lost my family don't let the same happen to you, please!!

I agree Wellbutrin is not a good med. try Celexia. It works great for me. I take 60 mg daily. Not sure how it will be when I take Chantix. I did many years ago and did stop smoking for 4 months until one day I had an emotion outburst then right back smoking. So don't do that please.

I was always told that if you are emotionally unstable in the slightest degree, you should never take chantix. I have been on Chantix for several weeks now and I have quit smoking but I have to say, I am also extremely emotional at this point and am contemplating going off of it asap because of that. I feel depressed and numb. So, I think it's time.

My mom has told me that Chantix makes "crazy" people sane and sane people crazy. I might just have to agree. I am bipolar and not medicated. I have been stable for about 3 years, though. I started taking Chantix 4 weeks ago, quit smoking (after 20 years) in 3 days and have had no emotional side effects. I have sores in my mouth, so I have to stop taking it, but that's it. My husband doesn't have any issues and after about 3 days on Chantix he became a complete jerk to everyone. He is the sweetest guy and it turned him into an angry, mean person. I feel great on it and wish I didn't have to stop. You should IMMEDIATELY stop taking it if you even START to feel anything weird. Don't let it get out of control.

Try it. It helped me and I had no side effects. You know the feeling you get when you aren't able to control yourself. You can stop taking it immediately. I was too scared to take it and I wish I did a long time ago! I'm bipolar, too.

I have bipolar and on a couple different meds. Tosay would be my 5th day on Chantix but I have decided its best for me to stop taking it. I have been extremely depressed today, very agitated, stressed out, and fatigued. I just hope I get back to normal real soon because it suck!

I've took all of the above. Wellbutrin doesn't help with smoking. I've been on Prozac along time , took chantix and quit smoking the first week. Had no side affects except vivid dreams which I rather enjoyed. Effexor however is a different story. Took a break from Prozac for a while and now back on it. I've never had withdrawals before but am having them bad from Effexor. So bad I grabbed a cigarette. Only had two pks in a week but that two to many. Going back on chantix. It's really does help and if you lay down the cigs it's really easy with the chantix. Going back in Houston !! Lol

Can ZOLOFT be taken with Chantix and Wellbutrin? I am taking ZOLOFT and Chantix but someone recommended also adding Wellbutrin to help with the smoking. I've heard that wellburin alone isn't s good antidepressant.
