Can I Take Meloxicam 7.5 Mg And Another Pain Reliever Together?

I've been prescribed Meloxicam 7.5 mg. I was told to take one at night but this wasn't very effective, after seeing my doctor he said to double the dose. Is it more effective to take one twice daily or 2 once a day?
At the moment I take it twice daily but it still isn't very effective is there another safe drug to take along side or a different drug to combat the pain I gave osteoarthritis in my hands and seems like my forearms as well.

Hello, Gary! How are you feeling? Sorry about the osteoarthritis.

Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it can be taken with other pain medications that are in different classes, or replaced with another NSAID that is more potent, but what is safe for you to try is up to your doctor.

Meloxicam may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, dizziness, stomach irritation, and increased risk of bleeding.

The CDC has a very informative article here about OA, its management, and treatments that you might find helpful.

Are you on any other medications?
