You're absolutely right! I been on the s*** 7 years and I made that same mistake, going up and up and up. Now I'm on 210 and I dont think I'll ever be able to be 100% opiate free for the rest of my life. I have some very painful health issues and rely on opiates just to decrease the pain enough so I'm not tempted to off myself and, all the doctors here don't give pain meds either. They have become gun shy about it cuz loads of doctors got their license pulled. So now, people who are really sick and having their lives destroyed by chronic debilitating pain, cannot get help. The methadone does not help my pain as much as pain killers and its making me sicker. Every time I drink it now, I'm nauseated the rest of the damned day and get VERY little pain relief. I even sometimes vomit my dose right back up. I'm on the pink liquid. When I was on wafers I never got sick to my stomach nor did I EVER need to take more than 60mg. It was when I started on the pink s*** when I kept having to give up. Everyone has a different body chemistry and will react different to medications. Some people are allergic to penicillin, some are not. Apparently, there are some lucky folks that can get a buzz or "high as **ck" on methadone (even with a high opiate tolerance, though I don't understand how) and some, (like myself) can not. Although most people I have spoken to that dose daily (especially those on 100mg or more) do not feel high from it, even if they take extra. In fact, methadone has what's called a "blockade effect" which makes it also block out any "high" feeling from other opiates as well. Methadone is a synthetic opiate where as pain killers are opiate derrivitives.

HOLY HELL MAN! I MUST ask where u live that u get dope for 5bux! Man are u LUCKY! I NEVER seen anything less than 20$ where I live. Boy do we get ripped off! Oh sure u can get half a hit for 10$ but if your tolerance is low enough for that to even take the sick off of u then you may as well just take a Vicodin.

Alright, where to start... First of all alot of these people are just Total KNOW IT ALLS who are going to argue no matter what until their fingers fall off. Alright now I have been IV'ing methadone for about 1 and 1/2 years now about 150 mg a day now... I really do want to stop IV'ing it and get back to dosing it all orally because it does not take an genius to know their are dangers involved.. Im prescribed the pink liquid.. Now first off Methadone does start to block the receptors more at higher doses but usually does not start making a big noticeable difference until over 80mg/daily... I dont have to spit my s*** out because yes you DO NOT WANT TO BE INJECTING YOUR SALIVA GROSS!!! I get take homes if you dont... WAIT until you do.. im sure drinking it willl suffice for a couple months or a year if you need to wait for the full weekly take homes... Methadone drunken orally DOES not make your heart larger thats bulll****! My doctor has been helping patients sinse the Vietnam Drug wave and even worked over there to help some quit before they came home.. He has been working with methadone ever sense.. I know him on a personal level and call him whenever i have a question but sadly have not talked to him about IV'ing which is why sense i dont know much other then my own experiance im not going to pretend i do like all these know it alls who are so cool cus they been studying a simple compound for 30 years XD

METHADONE DOES NOT GET IN YOUR BONES thats a myth... I know plenty of people who have been on it for over 20 years with no side effects and have perfectly normal hearts.. As far as intravenous use goes!!! i have only messed with the pink liquid and im gonna tell you now.. 1. i dont recommend it. 2. lately over a year later im starting to get paranoid over very very very minor feelings in my chest and sometimes it feels like my lungs and sometimes my heart but is never anything painful just minor feelings that could be natural from having a lil bit higher cholestoral then im sapose to be.. You wont get a massive rush... more relaxing and calm then intense its not intense but it is there... Yes some people might call me an i**** for banging s*** when i dont know every little effect it could have long term on my body but id rather you atleast do it the safer way then go boiling it or doing something else and f****** yourself up.... MAN I STRUGGLE EVERYDAY TO DRINK IT AND STAY AWAY FROM THE RIGS. the needle is an addiction of its own....

If your going to try and feel some sort of rush your not going to unless your tolerance is below 80mgs a day and you IV 100 unit shots at that point you will feel minor rushes but you do feel the onset within minutes much faster then drinking it but no it doesnt get you any higher and it doesnt last quite as long which is why i do it in the morning and at night.. Good advice truly is to just say no but i mean i need to practice what i preach and everybody has their own struggles id rather you be doing it a safer way... you will taste a lil bit after the shot but very very slightly and not every time... I dont know what to say about long term because i still havent heard of anyones testimonies being that they IV'ed for more then a couple years... and no that doesnt mean its because their all dead its just a hard thing to find alot of people talking about online. {edited for safety}

Started on " the done " 1990, and still on it.Thats what you call curing a heroin addiction. Started on 40mg but within 2weeks was up to 120mg,, went up to 250mg for 6yrs but the last 18yrs have been on 200mg and have belted 4 of those doses every week since 1990. No:1 it has kept me out of prison, 2: have been employed since 1990 - same job last 17yrs. Injecting it is stupid, dont do it, I am fortunate to still be sucking air. If you want to converse about drugs reply to me, I'd love to talk. Done a lot of drugs but always looked after myself.

Wow, love the comments on here. Even the people who call other people out, claiming to be intelligent, and cite various information, are i****s. Hey @Studrocket, you remind me of every pharmacy assistant I've ever known, in that they think they know everything about medications (& medicine), but really are just entry level workers that only know what someone else has told them, without any of the crucial background knowledge. How many years did you go to school to be a pharmacy assistant? Oh that's right NONE because pharmacy assistants don't need any prerequisites, basically because they only do the remedial, redundant tasks that encompass 90% of pharmacy work. You have no idea what you're talking about and are completely wrong about just about everything you claimed to be knowledgeable of. First, I don't know where this whole idea came about that "methadone doesn't get you high", but this is a total misconception and is just not true. Methadone, like heroin, hydrocodone, oxycodone, fentanyl, morphine, is an opiate and narcotic analgesic (pain killer) . All opiates have a certain affinity to various receptors in your brain and body and this causes the euphoric, anxiolytic, analgesic feelings they ALL produce. Now all opiates cause you to develop a tolerance so over time you need a greater dose to achieve the same effects and eventually it won't necessarily be getting you high anymore, just avoiding the symptoms of opiate withdrawal. Now most people out there that take methadone, take it at a methadone clinic, which isn't like getting a script where you can just take more pills if you wish. So a lot of people have this misconceived notion that methadone doesn't get you high, but this is the opposite of what is true. Now, every opiate has different affinities for different receptors, and ultimately different effects. The only drugs classified as "opioids" that truly don't get you high are ones that have negative affinities for these various opoid receptors, which is why they're commonly used to treat someone who overdosed. So yes, technically when someone overdoses from opioids, they actually give them more opioids. But these drugs are essentially the opposite of opiates chemically speaking with how they affect you, and are not "opiates" in the normal sense. Back to methadone though like all opiates, methadone has a slightly different affinity and reaction than other opiates, including one unique factor. While methadone causes pain reliving and other similar effects of all opiates, it also uniquely acts as an NMDA antagonist. Now NMDA antagonists actually REVERSE tolerance to just about every drug there is. Ibogaine, a psychedelic and strong NMDA antagonist, is even used to get people off of all drugs without withdrawals, including opiates. Yes it's true, I've used it multiple times and it truly does eliminate withdrawals entirely as well as any cravings. However It's also a 16-36 hour psychedelic trip though in which you won't even be able to walk, so not something you can just take willy nilly. But anyway back to the point, methadone unlike other opiates actually REVERSES tolerance to opiates and therefore has the potential to consistently get you HIGHER, not the other way around.

But now for my second point StudRocket... You mention you won't go over 100mg and that a high dose, over 200mg of Methadone, would cause pre-elongated QT, or essentially an arrhythmia which can ultimately lead to heart problems. Here's the problem that though, there has never been any study that says that's true. There have been extensive studies on methadones affect on QT levels and heart problems and what they found is this. Methadone by itself doesn't necessarily cause heart problems p, and when administered by itself literally results in almost no problems, but when combined with things like alcohol can cause heart problems. And while there is a concern that higher doses could THEORETICALLY lead to a greater chance of heart problems, there has never been any established consensus on what would even be considered a "high dose". What cracks me up is I can see why you would know that is because an actual Pharmacist probably told it to you to tell patients that partial bit of info because of how when mixed with things like alcohol methadone could POSSIBLY cause things like an arrhythmia. It is hysterical that you then twisted this partial information to mean it's somehow worse to take over 100mg, or even 200mg, of methadone. So sorry that you actually know nothing about the field you worked in for 20 years. You must be a disappointment to your father who actually went to school to be a real pharmacist

My son was born a year ago his mom was on methadone the whole pregnancy, how was your life? did you struggle with basic things? or anything you can tell me? im just wondering, he is a normal baby and healthy, the f****n Dr.s all talk s*** you know how they are!! My son was fine for 3 days and the day before my wife was gonna bring him home she had him sleep in the nursery and the next day they came in and said he shows signs of withdraws,and gave him morphine and weened him off it took a month in a half its a long story and I believe he was fine but he is now 18 months and healthy and happy,I was just curious if there were and effects later on in life?because all the so called specialist claim that all this bad s*** can happen and I think they are full of s*** and want money lol,I can see if the mother was on a high dose but my girl was maybe taking 50mg she got a split dose but never took it so they were basing their things as if she was on 160mg and not what she actually was taking,thank you

Hi, just in reply to your comment you don't get a rush off methadone, I've been taking it for 3 months now and I'm only on a small dose of 30 mg and I get feel effects for at least 5 hours before I start feeling normal again, and that's everytime I take it. I suppose you have been on it for so long you can't remember you just feel normal now..

Frank, pls learn how to spell. N stop putting n in front of every sentence. N it makes it very hard n to understand n what u are talking about n. Everyone uses abbreviations when txting & what not, but damn dude, u take it 2 a new level & it's hard 2 get what ur saying. But, N I think u were trying 2 say n that just because ur buddy said so, all anyone would ever need is 50mg of methadone 2 feel ok. Is 50 a magic number? Everyone is different & some people do need more than 50mg to feel ok 4 a whole 24 hours until they get their next dose. If ur dose is to low 4 u, then u will not feel OK for a whole 24 hours which is the point. That dose is different 4 every individual. 50mg is not the magic dose 4 everyone to feel OK just because ur buddy says so.

all of you people are confusing methadone with methadose. methadone gets you very high. methadose (the liquid you get in the clinic) does not. it will for the first week or so but then it goes away. you guys are arguing and don't even know the facts.

I was trained by an Army Ranger on how to properly administer liquid methadone. You do feel a big effect from it like anything else but you can damage your veins doing it.

I really like how each post about this question (none of them have answered the question by the way) has just a little bit more to say about why they know more, or why its good, bad or who knows but everyone has 2 cents and thats about what its worth, 2 cents.... Anyway, as im reading i get to "Studrocket`s" post and he really goes into some deeeeepppp s*** about cardiomyopathy and how injecting liquid methadone can cause QT segment elongation... WOW, i really want to see the study on that..... Im super positive that at NO TIME has anyone, EVER done a specific study to determine the cardiac effects of liquid methadone injection and furthermore if they had they without any doubt in my mind (which is educated by the way, and not at Daddys pharmacy, its called NYU, maybe you have heard of it....) they could not come to the conclusion that you say they have came to, thats just stupid. Without going into a ton of cardiology just rest assured that this premise is just stupid, AT BEST ! Please try to offer good advise, hopefully advise that makes sense and has some sort of facts attached to it and not just stuff that you googled and that you think makes you look smart, it doesn't. QT Segment elevation ??? REEEEAAAAALLLLLLLYYYYYYYY ??? Now, to answer the question... as stated in other posts, the meds themselves may be sterile, putting it in your little take home bottle totally "undoes" that and beyond the issue of injecting non-sterile stuff in your body is asking for trouble BUT even beyond that, NO, DO NOT inject this stuff, its VERY bad for you, maybe not short term but it WILL be a big problem, or lead to big problems... medications that are made for injection are processed in a totally different process than PO (by mouth) meds.... just ask Daddys pharmacy boy, Studrocket was it?

It's 160 milligrams, it takes about 5 cc b4 im no longer dope sick n ten if i wanna feel better. I kill a bottle every 2 days n guess what? I haven't died yet. I will say this though...taken orally seems just as good effects wise but slower.

Methadones oral bioavailability swings wildly 35% to 99% and the sugar free die free flavor free 10mg/ml is injection solution missing the ph adjusting chems. All its got is citric acid purified water and sodium benzoate. just got to maybe adjust ph. it depends on tolerance and what point the methadone is at in the elimination process. I'm studying more on why that giant methadone rush sometimes occurs and sometimes doesn't, but the rush is just indescribable. I do know promethazine and clonidine and lots of other chems effect pharmaknetics. when i did it i always took 20mg diazepam, 2mg lorazepam, 25 of promethazine one hour before and the first time i was on 5mg methadone a day i was weening off at time and i took 25mg of done just to take a break from being sick. I find this drug absolutely amazing and has such weird and mysterious pharmaknetics and is my new favorite opioid im researching.

You do not feel high on methadone unless u obviously don't need it. if you have a true tolerance to opiate and H you will not feel high. I been on it for years and when i started i did not feel high, It simply relieved my WD's and made you feel normal...Maybe if ur going to the clinic for a high you should re-evaluate why the hell your going in the first place... Its people like you who give the clinics bad name. Why do u want to abuse something that is made to help us?? If u really wanna bang, don't abuse the thing that will eventually help you or you will be screwed if u ever grow up and want off h or opiates.... People are dumb and piss me off not knowing a thing about done

Yes methadone can make you feel high just like any other narcotic..... It's an opiate so what makes you think it can't make you feel high like any other opiate? To say I'm on 200mg means nothing, you didn't start on 200, you started on way less and gradually went up. So of course you slowly built up a tolerance instead of making large jumps. How about trying 400 one day and see if that makes a difference? I am sure it will.

People are all different. I had a 800 dollar a day habit with opana, dilaudid, heroin. I was taking them for 8 years and then went to done clinic and started out at 50 and was still sick as s*** and finally got up to 170 and I was straight not feeling high off it but it just knocked withdrawal symptoms out...... I don't care how big or little you are, take 300 plus mg of liquid methadone and see if your ass don't feel its effects and if you say you don't quit trying to act like a badass. I'm 6'4 290lbs and I feel it if I take 300 mg and I had one hell of a habit bad enough that I would excuse myself in class in college and go to bathroom and dose. So don't sit there and tell me people aren't hooked..... It's a different type of opioid.
