Can I Stop Symbicort After 2 Weeks

I was put on symbicorasthma after hospitalized for respiratory failure from the flu and pneumonia. 2 puffs 2 times a day 160/4.5. I only have been taking it at night because of a the high dosage of steroids I was on in hospital and tapered off at home. Started this medicine 2 weeks ago. This medicine upon the first morning I woke up itching terribly, but at least I rested the whole night without waking up wheezy as I have done previously. Now I am so dizzy I can't function. My body is so low 97/71 and pulse is 102. I'm also having pain in my chest and the bp machine says my heart rate is irregular. My scalp is itching around the hair line and my hands are cramping up. My whole body feels out of whack. Vision is so blurred, I feel horrible, jitters and mood is off. Feel like I'm drunk!,,, I decided to stop this right now and did not take my dose to night. Is stopping cold turkey ok since I have only taken about 24 puffs of this stuff in a 2 week period?

While I understand that side effects can be problematic and annoying, respiratory failure could kill you, as reported by the NIH. I really hate to alarm you, but a bit over 6 years ago, I suffered congestive heart failure due to not taking things seriously and always finding excuses to not buy and take the medications I was prescribed for high blood pressure, I passed out in the ER and woke up full of more tubes than I cared to count.

After I was released from the hospital, it took awhile to find medications that worked for me, without making me sick and miserable, but compared to no longer being alive, a few weeks of misery was worth it, to ensure I stayed alive and regained my health. I had to work with my doctor, until we found the proper combination of medications for me.

The ultimate decision, of course, is up to you, no one can make you keep taking the medication, or make you contact your doctor to ask about other alternatives you can try, of which there are several, all anyone else can do is lay out the facts for you and make sure you are aware of how serious and dangerous it is to experience any type of cardiovascular failure. Some days, I find it a pain to take my medications 3 times a day for blood pressure and heart function, but it is far better than leaving my son without a mother, and making my husband a widow.

The good news is that side effects are also usually transient, they tend to go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, but that may take about 4 to 5 weeks. I hardly experience any issues from my medications, now, unless I miss a dose.

Are you on any other medications?
