As a former opiate addict, i have experienced personally, being on methadone for years. and when i got to 42 mg i was just done and came off cold turkey, and i see a friend of mine on suboxon comming off and it seems to be much better...if you have an opiate addiction and can avoid methadone, Do it! if not, get on methadone! its better than the alternative....if you dont know what that means, you havent reached your lowest yet....or just arent intelligent enough to care

I don't take pain meds at all but I am on celexa and just now failed a drug test for pain meds. You ones that it didn't do it too don't think others are lying about it. It's judging. ALSO it's all true. Now I have to wait on the test to get back so I can go to work. It sucks. But the meds are working really good for me and I have never found anything to help me till now. People please, don't get s***ty on here. 1 man's experience is not the same for the 2nd man's. Bless all.

YES- Celexa is an SSRI, which CAN make you test positive for Benzo's. I did twice, went off it, then 4 weeks later had a DOC do the test, and showed negative. DO NOT trust flimsy cheap drug tests when it comes to you being accused of something you're not/haven't been doing!

YES! Clinical tests show that SSRI's (Setraline/zoloft, celexa, etc) WILL make you test positive for benzodiapines in most cheaper, non physician prescribed drug tests. Do the research CLINICALLY.

My doc said they are finding that Celexa works better for pain than for an antidepressant. I can't take arthritis meds because of my stomach but this works. So you think you don't take pain meds... Your just not being told.

Yep. I went off for a full week (hating my brain chemicals that week) due to a positive test at work. Forced my Dr into a drug screen after the full week, she declared me clean. Helped for my situation, hopefully yours.
Speaking from experience, DO NOT just stop taking, it's sucks. Wean off, and onto another SSRI Uptake, while informing whomever is testing AND reporting!! Good luck!

I NEVER took drugs before and I never failed a drug test until I changed from Zoloft to Celexa...it was embarrassing because it was a group interview and everyone had to take a drug test before they even told you the details about the job... I was escorted out in front of everyone smh

I know this post is very old but I wanted to share this info because so many people who replied to thread are absolutely incorrect. Any medication that is an SSRI (Zoloft, Citalopram/Celexa, etc.) can create a false positive for Benzos on a standard urine test. How do I know? Because it has happened to me SEVERAL times. After my first false positive for benzos showed up, I did a lot of research to get to the bottom of it and there are countless studies that can be found on the web that confirm it. One study in particular found that taking an SSRI will cause a false positive for benzos as high as 20% of the time - that means if you take 5 UA's, chances are one of the tests will come back with a false positive but can be straightened out in the lab easily. Yes it has. Or its original ingredients which may have been altered after my 13 yr old daughter was detained and it was thought this drug was an illegal substance in police test kits. We contacted the manufacturer, and they may have altered it now but in 2003/4 it most certainly tested positive, turning the test kit blue. I insisted the police test the actual prescribed pill and all heck broke loose when it came back blue because they were not certain how many children had been accused of drug charges due to their antidepressants.
