Is it reversible? As a woman, the last thing i want is to be lose my hair. HELP! ## Hello, Rose! How are you? Yes, hair loss can be a side effect and, unfortunately, once it's started it usually continues as long as someone is taking it. The only way to reverse it would be to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## After going on bi-stolic for high blood pressure) for a few months my hair started thinning ALOT! My dermatologist said it can happen with beta blockers. My cardiologist said he can take me off and try something else. Has anyone been switched to an equally effective HBP medicatio...
I was informed I have to change my blood pressure med. to a drug that comes in generic form. Will no longer fill my Bystolic 10mg.Gave my physician a list of meds. to change for me. Have taken Bystolic for several yrs. So now I'm concerned! Will try Coreg. Any advice or warnings on Coreg? So unfair- thanks Express Scripts for deciding just to play around with my meds. Wish I could afford to pay for Bystolic but nope. ## Hello, Patsy! How are you? I took the generic for Coreg, Carvedilol, for several years and it's known to cause less side effects than most others. The main warning I have is to watch for Raynaud's Phenomenon in cold weather. It tends to cause it in some people or worsen it in those of us that already have it and that was the biggest problem I had with taking i...
I recently had a bad reaction to Lisinoprill, Angioedema Edema. I just started taking 5 mg of Bystolic, I monitor my bp and it went from an average of 142/76, to 170/86, also my pulse rate went from 66 to 45 on average. Only been on this for 3 days now. Thinking of stopping. Anyone have similar reaction? ## Hello, Patrick! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. You might be experiencing a bit of a rebound effect from going off of the Lisinopril and switching to the Bystolic, it could take a few weeks for things to balance out and for you to see if it's going to work for you. Typical side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and dry cough. Have you consulted your doctor? They may want to prescribe a high...
Why am having so much trouble in getting Bystolic? ## Hello, Hugh! How are you? I'm sorry that you're having a problem getting your medication. There is a shortage currently listed for Nebivolol, though no reason has been specified other than manufacturing issues. Thus, it might be best to speak to your doctor about prescribing an alternative medication, in the meantime. This medication is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, weight changes and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
I started bystolic 4 years ago. I ve had several issues with it. The most troubling is the 40 pound weight gain. Just stopped bystolic. Wondering if anyone can tell me if I am stuck with this gain or will I start to lose it. I am not usually overweight. But could not lose an ounce on bystolic. ## Hello, Sue! How are you? What did you replace it with? If you were taking it for high blood pressure or a cardiac condition, then you can't just stop such a medication abruptly, unless your doctor has approved your doing so, because that creates the risk of a rebound effect, which could result in severely elevated blood pressure and heart rate. You really need to work with your doctor to find a medication that works for you, without causing such problematic side effects. But yes, once switc...

Since its sunday, doctors office is closed so i called the pharmacy. The pharmacist told.me that I can stop.since its onpy 2 days that i took it but make sure to call the doc tomorrow. Now im experiencing discomfort in my chest, burning and sour kind of feeling.. Hard to describe.. Is this normal? Those can be normal side effects of this medication, along with he...
i have taken bystolic for 2 days and it made me feel like was having a heart attack can get right off are do still to go about slowly ## Hello, Sham! How are you? No, you'd not have to wean off, if you only took it for 2 days, but if you're taking it for high blood pressure, then you need to contact your doctor to try a different medication. It isn't safe to let high blood pressure continue untreated, doing so creates the risk of heart attack, stroke and congestive heart failure. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks, that will be all. I'm now on lisinopril. ## I had an EKG done because of light chest pain and shortness of breath. My left arm would also hurt sometimes with a tingle in my last 2 fingers. It came back normal. They suggested possible pericarditi...
Is anyone else experiencing the following side effects? I am 54 years old and went on 5 m of Bystolic approx 4 months ago. I have put on ten pound (rare for me) have chronic heartburn, morning nausea, my liver enzymes are above normal now, night sweats and tiredness ...the nightmares have subsided....I am at wits end....my blood pressure is borderline ....do I really need this drug or is there a better one out there? ## Hi Bridget, sorry to hear about what you're going through. The chronic heartburn and nausea sound like some of the common side effects for this medication. The weight gain, however, is considered more serious so I'd recommend alerting your doctor of this ASAP because your treatment may need to be changed. Hope this helps and best wishes with all this!!
high bp meds do not help I am taking serrapeptese as well. I eat well and exercise. I have tried many meds for the high BP they do not work any suggestions would be helpful. ## Hello, Jodo! How are you? Have you ever tried a combination of medications? Sometimes more than being taken, at the same time, can help when a person is resistant to individual medications. Do you watch what you eat to keep your sodium intake as low as possible? If you're sodium sensitive, you will always have a problem, if you aren't careful about how much you take in each day. And do you get plenty of exercise? That is also vital to helping keep your blood pressure in the normal range and for cardiac function. ## I have been a cosistent exorcisor for the past thirty years, I walk two miles five days a w...
The doctor I went to for a TKA medical clearance prescribed the lowest dose for a BP problem I didn't know I had. Pain probably cause a lot of stress and I was more than 20 pounds heaver back then, which was about 4 months ago. The drug certainly did work to bring about a normal BP and another benefit is that heart rate is low like a champion athlete. Despite how well it works I wonder if I really need to keep taking this drug--e.g., maybe just take an aspirin a day. My feeling is that the drug has lowered my metabolism by about 500 calories a day so it's a good thing I've been using Lose It! keep track of calories. ## Hello, Mac! How are you doing? Glad that you got the blood pressure under control. However, you should not stop taking this medication, unless your doctor spe...
Hello! I was taking 5 mg. bystolic for 1 yr. until I experienced terrible side effects that I make me so disable to do anything and has been taken to the ER within 2 months period of time. My primary physician told me to stop taking it two months ago and try an alternative way of stabilizing my bp (as a trial and error first!) instead by enrolling at Zacharias Ganey Health Institute for a 10 week Course this summer. To make this story short, without taking bystolic now, my bp is normal ( lower than 130/80) everyday though it spike up once in a while to 200/ 110. However, I feel so much better and I can drive my car now BUT there are days I still feel nauseous esp. early in the morning when I got up and hasn't taken my breakfast yet or at times when I was outside the house or just si...
My mother has been taking Bystolic 5 mg for a few years. She has also had problems with short term memory loss in that same time period. The memory problem is worsening and I'm worrying that she might be taking the Bystolic twice. If it has caused the memory issues to start with, a double dose would be a very bad thing. Has anyone else connected Bystolic with memory loss? There are mentions of it on numerous sites, but they all say don't go off Bystolic on your own. Any thoughts?? ## Hello, Becky! How are you? How old is your mother? NO, that is not a known side effect of the Bystolic. Is she on any other medications? Have you tried observing her take them to make sure she doesn't double up?
I have had tachycardia and high bp for a week now. I went to the ER cause my resting HR got it 146. My normal values are 120/78 and HR low 70s. In the past week my hr has been between 90-100. I'll even wake up at night with HR bring 100. I can't even stand up without it spiking my HR. I had quite a few blood tests, EKG, echocardiogram and holter monitor and everything has come back fine. In 24 and healthy.... I've have never ever has and heart issues before. My GP gave me 5mg of bystolic to get my HR down til we figure it out. I've also stopped my newer BC pill that I started a little over two months ago to see if that caused the high bp? If I develop any bad side effects from this, because it's a low dose can I just stop taking it? ## BC pills can cause these types ...
Taking 5 mg Bystolic. Can Bystolic lower your neutrophils/granuocytes (lower white blood cells that fight bacteria) and lower total white blood count? I have developed mild neutropenia since taking Bystolic, noticed 7 months following first taking the drug and it has continued to now (4 years later) but my doctor does not know of this side effect. Also noticed my cholesterol increased and (total and LDL). When I cut it down some (to 3/4 pill my cholesterol lowered) ## Hello, California! How are you? No, that is not a known side effect of this medication. However, the elevated cholesterol is a known side effect. It might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about trying a different medication, then rechecking both in a few months to see if they are resolved, or not. Is there anything el...
Does it matter if I take this med in the am or pm? I also take lotrel and microzide for high blood pressure in the am. Bystolic was prescribed for heart rhythm. ## Hello, Eddie! How are you? Usually, it is preferred that you take them in the morning, so they can control your condition during the time of day when you will be most active and experience the most fluctuations. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, hypotension and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with?
I HAVE CHRONIC MILD TO MODERATE AORTIC REGURGITATION. ON OCCASION, I HAVE SOME ISSUES WITH PVC'S. MY CARDIOLOGIST ADVISED ME TO USE BYSTOLIC 2.5 TO 5 MG AS NEEDED FOR THIS. IS THIS A COMMON PRACTICE. ## Hi, Linda! Sorry about the problems you're having. Bo, the 'as needed' part isn't typical. Usually, these types of medications are taken on a regular basis, because it takes them awhile to reach their full level of effectiveness in the body and preventing the PVCs is easier than stopping them, once they've started. Learn more Bystolic details here. It's not going to have much effect, if only taken 'as needed', which is why they aren't prescribed that way for blood pressure or other cardiac conditions. Additionally, they take about 15 to 20 minutes ...
just found this pill and was wondering what it was was it's pink ad diamond in color, it also has fl on one side and 10 on the other can you please tell me what it is! ## Hello, Godiva! How are you? This is a 10mg Bystolic tablet, it's a medication that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Is there anything else I can help with?
is bystolic ever prescribed by a doctor as a temporary drug to lower bp, i.e. if someone suddenly experiences stress that cause a spike? in other words, is this a lifetime prescription or is out possible at some future date to stop once bp is under control? ## Hello, Michael! How are you? There is no cure for high blood pressure, per se…. but yes, there are cases where people have been able to successfully manage it with diet and exercise, so they were able to stop the medications. Of course, it's always doing to require diligence, because there's the risk of it going up again and getting out of control if you go lax on your diet or exercise routine. Is there anything else I can help with?
Has anyone who takes Bystolic developed GA or granuloma annulare a skin condition? ## Hell, Dayla! How are you doing? Sorry about the GA. But no, from what I've been able to find, it hasn't been known to be caused by medications. Did your doctor have any ideas why you might have developed GA? It has sometimes been associated with some allergies, such as gluten and with Lupus. ## I did stop taking the Bystolic. I had been on it for 5 yrs. taking 10 mg. also 40mg. of Benicar. I went up to 20 mg. of the Bystolic and it wasn't managing the blood pressure and was causing alot of side effects at that amount. i wouldn't recommend taking that much Bystolic. I went back to Metoprolol ER and for right now the BP is being managed. The GA rash has not subsided and it's been almo...
I take bystolic 2.5 Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Heart rate in 50s but always has been. Keeps hbp stable. My question is , is it safe to exercise as I can't seem to get heart rate high on. Beta blocker and unsure how much is enough ## Hello, Lynn! How are you doing? Learn more Bystolic details here. In this case, the only thing I can really do is advise you to check with your doctor. Without knowing any other details of your medical history, it would be remiss of anyone else to try to advise you on this. In most cases, it is good and safe for someone with high blood pressure to exercise, but there are some rare cases where it isn't and I am not sure which this would fall in considered your heart rate. Have you tried any other class of medications? ## Losartan. My doct...
