I have been on Xarelto for just over 3 months. I have pain in my right heel that is extremely painful to walk on. A doctor diagnosed it as plantar fasciitis. Is this another side effect of Xarelto? ## It is not listed as a known side effect by the FDA. The typical side effects of Xarelto are listed as possibly including nausea, easy bruising, increased risk of bleeding, headache, and joint/muscle aches. As of now, according to current research, medications haven't been known to cause Plantar Fasciitis, however, that doesn't completely rule them out, either, since we learn new things every day. Are you on any other medications?

I was recently diagnosed A-fib, and I use Thrive supplements, which one of the igredients is white willow bark. is this dangerous, or can I not take xerelto and continue with Thrive, I love the product. Generally, anyone with impaired clotting, or who is on a medication like this that affects clotting should stay away from white willow bark, since it can also cause thinning. I have been on Eliquis since 2016. I was first on 5M twice a day after suffering a small stroke. I had bleeding behind my right eye and blood in my urine. I was then put on 2.5 twice a day. Still get nosebleeds. I have gained 20lbs am extremely tired all the time and feel like the life is drained out of me. Starting in July I have had stomach problems and the gastroenterologist put me on a low food map diet. After two weeks I re-introduced dairy. I had ice cream and had extreme diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain. It seems I am now lactose intolerant. ## Lactose is an ingredient in Eliquis. ## You need to taper off it and/or take another blood thinner. I have been on Eliquis for 4 months now for afib. Have only had one episode of Afib. have a cardiologist that doesn't listen. He's just a drug pusher and wants to do ablations. So I don't bother with him. He just turned me back over to my nurse practitioner anyway. I am wasting away on this eliquis 2.5 mg twice a day. Can't gain weight. Most people gain. Not me. Are there legal limitations or problems related to the use of Quick Clot by first responders or by the general public ## Quikclot has been approved by the FDA for external use and has been used successfully by the U.S. Military for a number of years. I have personal experience using it to stem otherwise uncontrollable bleeding by my elderly mother who uses Coumadin. She has cut herself in the kitchen and previous to finding Quikclot had to go to ther ER to deal with the bleeding. In addition, I have used it on myself to deal with a severe cut. As I said above, the product is FDA approved and I would think that there should be no limitation on the use of Quikclot by either first responders or by the general public. I am a soon to be 71 year-old female with paroxysmal A-Fib--started 5 years ago. I take Eliquis 5 mg/twice daily. I generally am not in A-Fib, but for some dental and surgeries have needed to discontinue Eliquis 2 to 3 days prior. I have researched everywhere and spoke to my cardiologist and PCP as well asking about withdrawal symptoms. As even missing one dose, I get flushed, shaky, and increased heart rate until I go back on the drug. Even asked pharmacist but they look at all the info on the warnings label. I have been on Xarelto for 2 years for DVT my doctor said, I have to be on it indefinitely. My problem is, I have 2 pills left and my insurance has been cancelled. I'm in the process of getting new coverage but it takes 5 to 7 business days. Can I go without Xarelto for several days? Should I take a Lovenox inj. that was prescribed for me before I started taking Xarelto? Would this be a problem? ## Hello, Nickie! How are you? Have you found a solution, yet? It would be best to call your doctor to ask them, before using the Lovenox. These medications may cause side effects such as nausea, increased risk of bleeding, easy bruising, and dizziness. As to the Xarelto, you should also be able to just purchase a few days worth from your pharmacy, until your new insurance coverage begins.

I haven't started using Eliquis, yet although it's been prescribed for my atrial flutter problem, but I've read some rather disturbing stories from people who have used it. Naturally I'd like to hear more from others about what to expect, and what reasonable alternatives may have been found with fewer or no adverse effects. ## I’ve been on Eliquis for over 2 years with no problems. Have been on xarelto 20mg for over 6 years after 3 unexplained PE's. at 72, the bruising is increasing and asked my Doc for advice. He switched me to Xarelto 10mg. Any experience with 10mg? I've been on coumadin since 2001 when I had a dvt and have had no problem with it...ever. Now, my doctor wants me to try xarelto, I'm scared. Should I stay on coumadin or make the switch? My mom was on coumadin for many years but then her insurance company told her she had to take warfarin as this is the one they would pay for. Is there really any different in these two drugs? It seems to me that she has been having more problems with the warfarin (keeping this medication at the right level) than the coumadin. I was told they were the same medications and do the same. I would like to know why the drug Coumadin is being discontinued? I am from Trinidad WI and I have been informed that the drug is no longer being manufactured. My mother is 85 years old and her family doctor is suggesting she switch to this drug from Warfin. Are hers chances of a stroke higher or recovering from a stroke with this drug. She no longer drives so getting her INR checked once a month sometimes can be a challenge. I had a DVT in 2001 and have been on warfarin since. I've had no problem with it and go every week to get my INR checked which is no big deal. Now, my doctor wants to switch me to Xarelto but I'm scared. My 80 yr. old mother had a DVT and was put on Pradaxa 4 mo. ago. Her new Dr. states she's not very familiar with the drug but will "taper" her off it by going down to one pill a day over 3 days. I'm wondering if tapering is necessary or should she just completely stop? Thank you for any answers. ## Why does she wanted her to stop taking it? After having a DVT, it is very important to take steps to prevent a recurrence, and something that helps prevent clotting, such as Pradaxa is usually one of those steps. Wondering if there are any restrictions on working out and weight training while on Warfarin? My doctor suggested not lifting more than 50 lbs. I just want to get toned and lose the flab. ## If your doctor didn't give you any other restrictions, then you should be fine, but you should always follow their instructions for your safety. I have been having severe lower abdomen pain and my digestive Dr wants to do a colonoscopy ASAP, but he said he can't till my Cardiologist Dr will be willing to stop Effient and 81mg Aspirin for a few days before. My question is, is it ok to stop for a few days? I had a stent put in on Dec 1st, 2016. ## While this is commonly done, before some medical test, only your cardiologist can decide if it is safe for you to do so, since there is a risk of rebound clotting, and elevated blood pressure, if you suddenly stop the Effient. Have you consulted your cardiologist, yet? Has your doctor done any other tests to see what is causing your pain, such as an MRI, or ultrasound? Are you on any other medications?

I had a MI on Jan 24th of 2016 and had a DES inserted. I have been on plavix for 9 months and the side effects are destroying my life. I am still taking aspirin. But have stopped plavix. It's been 2 days. I want to use Nattokinase instead of plavix. Has anyone used this and should I use it with aspirin or stop the aspirin and just take the NATTOKINASE? I can hardly function on plavix as it makes me feel very weak causes confusion. Everything goes bad when I take it. I told my cardiologist it was making feel like I wanted to die and thought it was other scripts I was on which I no longer take. BP is perfect and diet improved.
