I'm out of work - my health insurance ran out and I I have been taking Lisin/Hctz 20+25. Does anyone know of a company or a clinic that will give me break - I found something on line but they won't identify themselves so I'm afraid to use them. Does anyone know of a similar drug that is cheaper - maybe I can have my doctor prescribe it - my doctor won't help me research it. Thanks. Or maybe a manufacturer that would give me a break ?? ## The name brand for this would be Zestoretic and it is manufactured by AstraZeneca, which actually means good news for you. They have an excellent assistance program for people that use their medications, it's called the AZ & Me program, it's specifically for people with lower incomes and no insurance. Hi, my mother has High BP. It was 140/90 for the past few years.. But for the last one month it has gone up to (150-160)/(100-110). She is 49 years old. She is using Concor 2.5mg, Ln block 10 (twice a day) and Aldactone 25 mg. But still the BP is at the same level. She even consulted a cardiologist but everything is normal. Please suggest what can be done to reduce the BP. Can someone suggest any dietary changes or any medications that can reduce the BP? ## Hello, Srao! How is your mother doing? Some people are sodium sensitive, according to the NIH, so she might do better if she lowers her salt intake as much as possible. Eating healthy low fat foods can also help, so can exercising. She can also speak to her doctor about raising the dosage of her medications, or trying different ones....

I have been on Bystolic 5 mg for 8 yrs. I had to stop abruptly 1 day ago because I have none left. I've been laid off and as a result cannot afford a dr.'s appt. to get an Rx called in. What can I expect to happen? I am drinking quite a bit of dandelion leaf tea to help with water retention since unlike Lasix, which i was also prescribed, it does not deplete potassium. ## Hello, Ziv! How are you? The biggest danger is that suddenly stopping it could cause a rebound effect, which may cause your heart rate and blood pressure to become dangerously elevated, according to the NIH. Seeing your doctor would be best, but if you cannot do so, you should make sure to monitor your blood pressure and heart rate regularly, so you can seek emergency medical attention, if the numbers get out o...

Hello, I have been on lorsatan for over 5 months and symptoms have increased. I have felt leg pain, especially on the left one, buttocks pain, fuzzy head, bad headache, patches where parts of my head hurt, especially the left side. I feel camps. My ankles hurt a lotnwhen I am sleeping. I drink plenty of water. I am calling my doctor this week. ## I am so very sorry about the problems you're experiencing. What do you consider to be plenty of water? This medication can cause increased urination, as reported by the FDA, so you still may need to take in some extra fluid to make up for what goes out each day. Are you on any other medications? Does this medication only contain Losartan, or does it also have another ingredient, such as Hydrochlorothiazide?

If the doctor prescribed 25mg of Losartan, can I cut a 50 mg of Losartan in half? Thought it would save some money. ## Hello, Rita! How are you? Yes, that can be done, as long as it's not a time released medication and your doctor approves. I've been doing this every day for several years, now. Before I had insurance, I discover it was much cheaper to buy 30 of the 50mg tablets, instead of 60 25mg tablets, and break them in half, since I take it twice a day. Most of them are even scored to make it easier to do so. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. The one caution I would like to posit is to make sure you take it will a full glass of water and swallow it immediately. This medication tend...

Trying oxycodone detox. Want to use clonidine for this. But i am on 25mg of metoporol succ and had heart bypass 3 years ago. Any thoughts on this? ## Hello, Richie! How are you? Taking them both tougher can lower your heart rate and blood pressure, which might be dangerous for some people, so they should only be taken together, if your doctor approves and is monitoring you regularly. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and dehydration. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for your reply...and you are correct I am on day 12 of oxycodne....and advice from a local pharmacy..I was told not to use the cloidine. For my personal. Detox..clonidine is great to withdraw from oxycodon. Just not for a heart p...

My husband takes 12.5 mg metoprolol in the morning and his lisinopril 2.5 at night. His cardiologist said to take 12.5 metoprolol in the am and another 12.5 in the pm. Our question is can the two medications together cause his no to get too low? He was put on the lisinopril to thin his blood since he is diabetic. Is it normal to be on both if there is no heart condition? ## Neither of these medications are blood thinners. What condition does he have that requires him to see a cardiologist? Medications in this class are sometimes given to diabetics to help protect kidney function, according to the NIH. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and hypotension. Does your husband have high blood pressure?

my blood pressurepres too high can i take 2 tablets of lisinopril hctz dosage 20 / 25 ## Hello, Manish! How are you? What do you consider too high? It is normal to experience fluctuations throughout the day, according to the NIH, it can be affected by activity levels, diet, stress and etc. As to the medication, you should not exceed your doctor's dosing instructions. This medication will not work immediately to lower blood pressure, even at a higher dose. It takes about 4 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. Are you on any other medications? Has anything changed in your diet, activity levels or have any other lifestyle changes occurred recently?

Taking Toprol Xl for blood pressure. 25 mg tab. Bad disc in back at L3-L4 area. Have had shots for pain due to disc problems, for my pain is located in my hips. Can barely walk . What pain med can I take till I can have another shot in back if at all possible. ## Hi Terry, People will make suggestions, but at the end of the day it is only your doctor who can make the final decision on what he/she wants to prescribe you based on their own discretion. For that reason alone I would encourage you to speak with your doctor first and foremost to at least see what medication(s) he/she has to recommend. At that point you can probably better discern if those options are suitable based on the feedback of others, even though everyone seems to respond differently. One other thing to take into consi...

i got 2 questions... 1) how long does this take to get out of your system and when does it start taking effect 2) is this drug considerd dangerous ? ## Hello, Jason! How are you? This is a diuretic that is most commonly used to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, edema, and congestive heart failure. It isn't dangerous, per se, as long as you take it as directed and are careful to not let yourself become dehydrated. It usually starts working within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, but it can take about a month for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. However, if you allow yourself to become dehydrated, it may affect your kidney function. Bodily elimination can take anywhere from 200 to 360 hours. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The FDA lists its typ...

What is the similarity / difference between these two tablets? Are these two tablets are substitute to each other? ## Hello, Ajay! How are you? No, they are not the same, Nebicard contains Nebivolol; which is a beta blocker, so Amlodipine is a different medication that is classified as a calcium channel blocker. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Which one have you been advised to take?
