When he filled it today it says CAR and is an oblong white pill. Same dosage. Are these the same med? ## Metoprolol is available as a generic, so the markings and the way it looks may differ, depending on which manufacturer made it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. What are the markings on the new ones he received?
I will be taking atenolol + chlorothatizone 100mg/25mg at 9 am and azor 5mg/40mg at 9pm. Is this combination safe? ## Has your doctor instructed you take them both? If so, you should do so, because it is far more dangerous to let a cardiac condition, or high blood pressure continue out of control, than it is to take the medications. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

I take valent H with 2.5 mg amlodipine in the morning and valent 80 with 2.5 mg amlodipine in the evening. My salt intake is moderate. My BP is often unpredictable and goes to 150 to 160 by 80 to 90 giving me a dull headache. How can I stabilize it, as I have had a retina haemmorage? Is itchiness in the back a side effect?
Updated in AmlodipineI have been having heart palpitations on an off since I started cloindine 1 mg. Should I quit? ## How long have you been taking it and how long do the palpitations last? The FDA does list palpitations as being a possible side effect of this medication and they may continue for 4 to 6 weeks, while your body is adjusting to the medication. In most case, palpitations are harmless, unless they are accompanied by other symptoms, such as dizziness and chest pain, according to the NIH, or if they last for very long periods of time.... but, it never hurts to have your doctor check things out to be sure.

I found a round white pill in my pill box that has D (I think) on one side and a 5 over 73 on the other. Can anyone tell me what this is? ## No, I'm sorry, but I've been checking various resources, since I first saw your post and I can't find a listing for this in any of the U.S. Prescription drug indexes. Was it found in the U.S. or elsewhere? Does anyone else recognize this tablet? ## Here in the US. Looking at it closer it looks like instead of a D on the one side maybe it is a crescent moon or maybe a C. Definitely a 5 over 73 on the other side ## I am currently trying to confirm this pill with the pharmacy. From what I have it is suppose to be Losartan 50mg generic for Cozaar. This is a blood pressure medication, but it is not the same as the previous pills. ## Okay, I ...
I forgot if I took my blood pressure medicine this morning. I take 20 mg of enalapril maleate in the morning every day. If I don't take it today will it hurt me or if I take a double dose will it hurt me? ## Hello, Linda! How are you? What did you decide to do? For future reference, unless your doctor specifies otherwise, it is generally more risky to skip a dose, since that creates the risk of your developing rebound high blood pressure and elevated heart rate, which could reach dangerous levels that create the risk of heart attack, or stroke, according to the NIH. Taking a double dose just once is usually not as dangerous, since it will generally only results in your experiencing more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and lower blood pressure....

Updated in AzorWhat all can it be used for other than blood pressure treatment? ## This is sometimes used for migraine headaches as well. ## Occasionally some types of after surgery discomfort from mild procedures, on top of what nenene already stated. I have also heard some people have been given it by their docs to help with withdrawal from other meds, but this is a total off label use, so I don't know much about it. ## My son uses it for his Tourettes. Took Zanidip for only 11 days and stopped (under dr advice) due to severe swelling in my feet, ankles and lower legs. So much so that my shoes did not fit and it feels like the whole area is bruised. Has anyone else experienced this? I have stopped meds for 4 days and the swelling has not gone down - I am getting worried that this may be permanent. Any advice or ideas? ## Zanidip contains the active ingredient Lercanidipine, which is a calcium channel blocker, used to help lower blood pressure and treat certain cardiac conditions. They are known to cause edema in some people and, when it does, the medication must be discontinued and they usually have to switch to something else. If yours is not improving, you may need to take a diuretic, to help your body expel the excess fluid, because...

I am just switching from Lisinopril 10mg to Losartan 50mg. Isn't that quite a jump in mg? I would like to stay at 10mg or at least 25mg. How does this compare? Thanks ## Hi Gail, I think the trouble with trying to figure out a comparable dose is that, although both Lisinopril and Losartan are used for similar purposes, each drug is in a completely different class of medications and therefore have a different mechanism of action for treating the said condition. So you may need to talk with your doctor about monitoring your progress on Losartan in order to determine if you need to continue at that dosage or start off with something smaller. But all in all, there's really no effective way to compare two different medications at two different dosages, since 50mgs of Losartan may or ...

I am a 45 year old male. I was taking Losanorm H 50 - 1 no and Concor Cor 2.5 - 02 for my BP condition and the average BP was maintained around 130/90. Recently my Doctor changed the medication to 1 no Tazloc Beta 25 in the morning and 1 no Amlodipine 5 in the evening. I am taking this revised medicine for the last 10 days and is suffering from abnormal variation in BP - sometimes it is spiking up to 160/100. Lisinopril 20mg; Chlorthalidone 25mg; Amlodipine Besylate 10; Diltiazem Er (cd) 180mg; Fluoxetine 20mg; Cardizem Cd 180mg; Hydrochlorot 25mg Tab Are some of these drugs really duplicates of others? I had been checked by a heart doctor and he says my heart is good, but because I have HBP my doctor has given me all these to take. ## That is a lot of medications to take, but if your blood pressure was dangerously high, they all might be necessary for awhile. Doses can always be lowered later, once it's under control, or medications stopped as they become unnecessary. I was taking a lot, too, at one point in time, and slowly as my blood pressure was gotten under control, I was able to eliminate most of them, so I am now only taking 2 regular daily medications, with a backup prescription...
