What is the difference and could i alternate if i ran out of one or the other. ## Losartan is an ARB and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker, so they are different types of medications, which are used to treat the same types of conditions. Different treatments work better for different people and sometimes, a combination may be required. However no, alternating like that isn't advisable, for several reasons. One would be due to the fact that they each take several weeks to reach their full effect in the body, so if you were switching off an on every few weeks, neither medication would actually have the chance to fully do its job. And the next is due to the fact that abruptly stopping these types of medications could cause a rebound effect, which may result in elevated blood pres...

I was getting a orange and white capsule made by TEVA and the capsule was orange on one side and white on the other and marked with TEVA and 7371. This is amlodipine-benazapril 5-10, like Lotrel 5-10. I went to have my prescription refilled and they gave me a completely orange capsule with the letter I (as in indigo) on one side and the number 97 on the other. What is this capsule and who makes it? I cannot find it anywhere on the internet. ## Okay I figured it out so I am replying to my own post. The capsules I was given were made by the "new kid on the block" known as aurobindo pharmaceuticals, which is a company in India that not too long ago got FDA approval to manufacture the Amlodipine Benazepril 5-10 that I am taking, and other combinations as well. I am going to come off...

Someone told me this is made from snake venom, is that true? Is that how the blood pressure is reduced? ## Hi Gabby, This is an interesting question that I would like to find out more information on as well... Based on my research, Lisinopril is reportedly a "synthetic peptide derivative" - which from what I understand, has the properties of a long-acting angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It's chemical description is listed as follows: (S)-1-[N2-(1-carboxy-3-phenylpropyl)-L-lysyl]-L-proline dihydrate If you have a specific drug manufacturer in mind who makes Lisinopril or other blood pressure medications, perhaps it would be best to contact them directly for more specific details. I hope this helps! ## Is Lisinopril made from snake venom? I have been told that t...

I've been on 25mg, Extended Release, of Metroprolol Succinate for a while, about four or five years I think - never on a higher dosage. It was prescribed for hypertension, along with Diltiazem and Hydrochlorothiazide. The doctor took me off of the Diltiazem about a year ago, so now it's just been the Hydro and Metoprolol. I've lost 60 pounds in the last year, and my heart rate was very low when I saw the doctor on Friday, so he said to discontinue the Metoprolol. I asked him if I should wean off of them, and he said no, it was perfectly OK to stop them cold turkey. I told him that when I had run out of pills a few months back for about three days, my heart started racing and beating erratically. He still said it was OK to just stop them. I've been Googling this, and can ...

Can you combine 5 mg amlodipine, 50 mg of losartan and 25 mg of atenolol together after heart attacks and stents? Thank you. ## It depends on what the patient's doctor recommends them, sometimes multiple medications are required to help control cardiac conditions, and high blood pressure. Generally, the dosages can be lowered, or some medications eliminated, once the given condition(s) are under control. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I did not have any health problems till 2015. The problems mentioned above, started co-currently and were comfortably controlled by medication. I am also taking Betacap TR 80 (1 per day) as suggested by my dr. The effect is nice, but I wish to take it twice a week. Please advise whether this is ok to do? Thanx.

What should I do? I took 2 metoprolol 50mg but my dose is 1. My other meds are white and looked alike. ## It is always best to check with your doctor to be sure. Did you experience any adverse events? In most cases, doubling up just once isn't a huge problem, according to the FDA, but you may experience lower blood pressure and heart rate than usual, as well as nausea and dizziness. ## I missed my dose at 11pm but took it at 2am. Can i still take my metoprolol tartrate 25mg dose at 11 tonight? ## I've been taking Metoprolol 100 mg 1x daily and just found out that my pharmacy gave me 50mg pills which I've been taking 1x a day and only recently realized the mistake. What will happen when I start back on 100 mg tomorrow?

Can you take more than 80 mg of Lisinopril in one day? Just curious, to know if there is a higher dosage than 80 mg? ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? While some patients have shown a better response to 80mg dosages, the maximum recommended daily dose is usually only 40mgs, because there is limited data available on the 80mg doses and no, it is not considered safe in doses higher than 80mgs. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, frequent urination and stomach pain. What condition is being treated? ## I am on 80 mg but weaning off. I am 30 years old and always feeling dizzy with headaches. Do you think I could take Ridaq for relief? Please help because I don't know if I have high blood pressure. ## This medication is listed as containing Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic that is used to remove excess fluid from the body. The NIH warns that it could actually cause dizziness, and headaches, as side effects, along with nausea, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications? Have you consulted a doctor to see what might be causing your symptoms? ## I take ridag tablets been t my bp is 116/67 can I continue taking them even if I suffer from dizziness

I am 78 yrs old. Dr prescribed Telma 40 but by taking Telma 40 my bp drops down therefore i reduced to Telma 20. Now i am maintaining bp as 125/62-65 etc. In case i do not take medicine it increases to 140/90 approximately. Should I ask my dr to change the medicine or stop taking this medicine? Please advise me. ## You should not change your dosage, or stop taking it, without your doctor's approval. There is no actual cure for high blood pressure, it can only be controlled. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How low was it falling? ## My BP is 130/60 and pulse rate is 97. Forskolin, a highly touted weight loss supplement, can it be taken with amlodipine, losartan and atenol? desperately need to lose weight. ## Amlodipine is prescribed 5mg as maximum dose once a day only. Losaratan is BP drug as also atenolol. These two are prescribed twice daily as single or combination drugs.. atenolol is an old prescription. Now the most recent are Carvedilol, metaprolol and all such drugs ending with 'lol'. ## @BJ, Concerning drug interactions with Forskolin, I think this is something that you may need to take up with your doctor, since drug interaction checkers don't compare pharmaceutical discrepancies with natural herbal extracts. However, information I'm finding on the other three medications (amlodipine, atenolol and losartan) goes on to note that...

My boyfriend recently accidentally took his medicine twice. He takes 5 mg amlodipine once a day he got up early this morning took his meds and then took more 3 hours later because he forgot. Will this hurt him? ## Hi, Kim! Any time that you are worried about the health and safety of a loved one due to taking too much medication, you should immediately call poison control, or seek assistance from your nearest emergency medical treatment facility. How is he doing? Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that's used to help lower high blood pressure and treat certain cardiac conditions. In reality, taking two tablets of the 5mg dosage wouldn't be an overdose, since it is also available in that dosage, it's just more than he should be taking. What may happen though is that his b...

dizziness, lightheaded, fatigue, diarrhea, sleepy ## Yes, those can all be side effects of Lisinopril with Hydrochlorthiazide, which is commonly used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions. Another thing that you do have to be careful of is dehydration, since the Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps remove fluid from the body. Most of the symptoms you mentioned can also be from dehydration, so you have to make sure you are taking in enough fluids to keep your body balanced out. Hello, I've taken lisinopril 5 mg x 1 daily for a few years, as I have 1 kidney. I've also taken atenolol 50 mg x1. My blood pressure has always been good at 120/80 or less. Should I take tylnol, Advil, Alive or Asprin for body akes? ## Hello, LT! How are you? If you are taking it to lower your blood pressure, then it's very likely that you need to refrain from taking the NSAIDs, such as Advil, Aleve or Aspirin, because they can actually cause blood pressure elevation. You need to check with your doctor to make sure of which is safest for you, but it's likely that you need to stick with just Tylenol. ## Have been taking one Losartan /hct 100-12.5 every morning for about 4 months. How long should Concor R be taken? Is it advantageous to be on Concor R for a long period of time? Being a regular user of Concor R (2.5mg) at the age of 72, should I consult my physician before discontinuing treatment? Please give your considserate opinion. ## The duration of treatment under any medication should be determined by the prescribing doctor. Thus, in my opinion, there is no right or wrong length of time in which Concor-R should be taken. Not only do we all respond to each medication differently, but we also may be prescribed the same types of meds for different reasons -some requiring longer treatment than others... However, I do think it is important to consult your prescribing doctor before discontinuing treatment (especially if you have been taking Concor-R for any exten...
