The only relevant regulations from the FDA state that they must have unique imprints for identification purposes, but these will even differ by manufacturer and strength of the med. In order to identify your pill for you and tell you what it is, you need to provide the complete imprint from the pill, all letters, numbers and/or symbols that may be on it, as well as the color and shape. I was wondering if Lisinopril is a generic medication for Diovan? ## No, Lisinopril is NOT a generic for diovan; rather it is a generic blood pressure medication for Prinivil. I take 40mg per day myself. ## Actually its an alternative not its generic form. ## priscilla..isnt that what I said..tat it was NOT a generic for Diovan rather it was generic for PRINIVIL, which obviously would be an alternative. ## The other posters are correct, Diovan's active ingredient is Valsartan. Another name brand for Lisinopril would be Zestril.

02/08/2006 Is there such a thing as becoming resistant to Toprol XL 50 mg? I've been on this drug for several years. It seems like it's not as good as it used to be for me. I have no med. insurance and no income. I get the meds free from the manufacturer. But lately I don't feel so good in the middle of my chest and the palpitations are getting worse and more frequent. It feels like there is something too heavy (in my chest) for my body to hold in place. Also- could the manf. have changed the ingredients enough to cause my body to react differently? Is there some way to have one of the pills tested to verify the ingredients are correct and in the right amounts? This is starting to become debilitating for me and it scares me! Kathy ## Does anyone know anything about this?

Often called water pills, diuretics work in the kidneys to increase the elimination of water and electrolytes, thereby causing more urine to form. metoprolol ## Good question. Do you happen to know what the strength of the pill is, as well as the manufacturer? There are several possible appearances for this pill. For example: Metoprolol manufactured by AstraZeneca comes in 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg dosages... All of those are White. But Mylan Pharmaceuticals manufactures METOPROLOL TARTRATE in 50 mg (which is Pinkish Red with M over 32 on it), and 100 mg (which is a lighter Blue with M over 47 on it). Not to mention there are many other possibilities. Hope this helps. James
