The HCT might actually refer to HCTZ, but that is just what the manufacturer listed it as. This medication is used for treating high blood pressure. How high is your blood pressure? That is what the answer is dependent on. If it was very high, then multiple medications are quite often used to help lower it as fast as is safely possible and, once blood pressure is back under control, medications can be removed, or dosages lowered, as appropriate. I started with atenalol and the Benicar was added later. Not sure why. I do watch my salt intake and try to watch what I eat.

shortly after Aortic valve replacement (2006), I started using Prexum Plus. initially I had severe problems with balance, to the extent that I had to crawl on some occasions. Then without telling the doctor, I just stopped taking them. I had never had a blood pressure problem before and at the time my BP was constantly 110/70. last year (2013) I had a problem with depression and the doc's found out that I had stopped taking them and I started using them again. I had the same problems again, severe dizziness, but I stuck with it and am fine now.

I have been on third medicine fir high blood pressure. My feet are swollen. I'm a Teacher and on my feet all day. They are very painful. I went to the dr he said all my levels wad fine and the swelling is normal. I have a transplant and I know this medicine is causing weight gain and swelling. I am 61 and are using co pritor 80mg & Fedeloc for the hypertension and I have constant pain at my right hand side upper gum and it triggers pain. My dentist indicated that it can be sinus, and another opinion from a professor of a Dental Faculty say that according to x-rays there is nothing wrong with the gum. I am 61+ yrs old man. I take Repace AF, Concor-2.5 for hyper tension once in a day, Storvas-5 once in a day and X-Met SR 500, twice in a day for the last several yrs and now blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol levels are normal. I do not smoke, no alcohol, no tension, do enough exercise and take normal food.
