So, I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe just a few weeks ago. Last week, I had a bladder infection so I started taking antibiotics... I only took them for a couple of days, though. I just took a small doxycycline pill for two or three days, stopping it just a few days ago when I got better. Today, I finally reached the non-blue pills. I took the first white pill four hours later than I usually do (I've been pretty spot-on with taking my pills every day at 11:30AM), then had unprotected sex an hour or so after I took the pill. After three frantic hours of research, I discovered that the white pills still have hormones in them (one of the two that the blue pills have, I understand), when I thought they were non-hormonal placebos like the brown ones. Still, is there a possibility that I mi...

I have been taking Lo Loestrin for about 5 mos now. I take my pills everday around 530 am. This past week was week 4 of my pack. I took all my pills on time until I got to my second white pill, in which I was nearly 3 hours late to take it. I took my next two brown pills within the regular time. I started my new pack, and took my first blue pill on time. My second blue pill, however, I was nearly 6.5 hours late in taking it. I have been taking them on time since, but I am concerned because I had unprotected sex 2 days after I was late taking my blue pill. I'm not worried that I was not protected against pregnancy. Is this true? ## As long as you took them, within 24 hours of when you should have, so you didn't actually miss any pills, then you really shouldn't have anything ...

Almost seven weeks ago I missed an active Sprintec pill and had sex with my boyfriend. I realized the next day and took two active pills as prescribed. Within the 72 hour period I took Plan B. I had a normal period a few days after this while on the placebo/white pills. I've had one period since then. I am on the third week of active pills and I have six more days to go before I should take the placebo pills. I began spotting last night. I had one large clump of blood but everything else has just been spotting. Is this normal after taking Plan B? Is it normal to have an early period on Sprintec? ## Well, you've got a lot going on there the has likely contributed to causing this spotting. You doubled up on the missed pills, then you added in the Plan B, that means you took pretty...

I got mirena iud taken out on a Wednesday, immediately started loestrin 24 that night. My and my bf had sex that friday and also started light (breakthrough ) bleeding that day also. so I was on birth control for 3 days by then. Am I at risk of getting pregnant? I also forgot to take my pill yesterday. Not sure if that makes a difference. I'm desperate, does anybody have any answers? ## Hi Nicole, From what I've read, most oral contraceptives can take anywhere from a week to a month to be fully built up in your system and work as indicated. Due to this time frame, in my opinion I think you're at greater risk for getting pregnant. If you're really concerned that you may in fact be pregnant, I would strongly suggest getting it checked out immediately so you can determine i...

I had a misscariage on April 30. Skiped perod in May due to the misscariage but was back on track on June 7 and started the pill on june 10, i took it for one week and stopped taking it since i figured id try conciving again. today july 13 still no period. Could taking the pill for one week affected my period? ## Yes, it is a hormonal based contraceptive and taking it for a week is just long enough for it to take effect in your body. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. However, are you sure it's wise to try again so soon? It usually takes quite awhile for your body to recover and, giving your body that time, will greatly increase your chances of conceiving again and being able to carry the baby to full term.

I started Sprintec on a Tuesday because of my very irregular periods. I was not on my period when I started taking the pills. I am now on my first day of the white pill and I have not had any type of bleeding. I'm confused because I thought I was supposed to get my period on the last day of the blue(active) pill.?? ## No, you would not get it on the last day of the active pills, because when you experience a menstrual cycle, while taking hormonal contraceptives, it is actually a withdrawal bleed from stopping the hormones for a day or two. Thus, you would need to be taking the inactive pills for a day or two, in order to experience a menstrual cycle. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. Hi is it normal that after taking this pill for about a year and a half, I have no periods?, I get occasional very very light spotting? and I know for sure I am using the pill correctly (right time every day) does this normally happen with any other women? Thanks! ## Eek! You didn't post under any specific pill name, so I don't know which one you're asking about. LOL Can you please post back and clarify? I assume, however, that you're referring to an oral contraceptive and, in the case, yes, skipping your period while taking them can be a normal side effect and usually isn't anything to worry about, as long as you haven't missed taking any. I am using Krimson 35 as prescribed by my doctor.I forgot to have wednesday drug and istead had thursay drug on wednesday. Would it it be a problem ? Now can I have wednesday drug on thrusday ? What should I do ? Please reply me ASAP. ## From what I'm seeing, they all contain the same active ingredients, so there should be no issue as to what day you take which tablet. This is the pack that has 21 active pills, then you don't take any for a week, correct? Learn more oral contraceptive details here.

Hi, I was on Yasmin (generic and brand) for 4 years. Just switched to Loestrin 24 Fe because I could no longer handle the strange moods and irreversible weight gain brought on by Yasmin. I am experiencing bleeding during my 2nd week on Loestrin; while on Yasmin, I never even experienced one day of spotting. Is this due to the decrease/change in hormone levels? When can I expect this to stop? Thank you. ## Yes, that could be what's caused it and it may last as long as 3 months, while your body adjusts to the new hormone levels. I have been on lo loestrin for about 7 months now and no longer have a period, just spotting on occasion. My doctor told me this was typical for many users and not a health concern. I have noticed, however, that I have mild cramps commonly (like I'm going to have a period) and it's not only during the same week of pills. It is actually quite random. Does anyone else have this happen? ## Yes, that can also be quite common when you are taking hormonal contraceptives. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. Have you mentioned this to your doctor? You might want to do so, to be on the safe side and make sure there aren't any other medical issues involved.

I've been taking Sprintec for about 6 months. I was supposed to start my new pack this past Sunday, but my new pack was at my apartment in a different city. Should I wait until the Sunday I finish my next period to start the new pack? Or should I just start it this Sunday when I get it? ## It isn't necessary to start it during your menstrual cycle, or on a Sunday. You can start then whenever you pick them up, but it will take 7 days, before you are protected against pregnancy again, so if you are sexually active, you should use some other form of protection in the meantime. It's just the if you start them the first day of your menstrual cycle, you are immediately protected against pregnancy and many doctors will have you start on a Sunday, so it's easier to remember to t...

Hi, I just finished my 7th pack of Lo Loestrin Fe yesterday, but did not get a period during that pack. During the first pack, I had a 10-day long period with mild bleeding. Second pack, I had no period. Third pack onward, I've been getting a regular period, every 28 days, of light bleeding for three to five days.....until now. I take my pill regularly at 9 am every morning. Has anyone else experienced missing a period on Lo Loestrin so late in the game? I should also probably add I've only had one sexual partner and we never use protection, but he pulls out before ejaculation. There have been times where we've slipped up, but we have never had a pregnancy scare. I know there are some people who don't get periods at all on this birth control pill, but is there anyone who...

I am years old my docotor put me on lo lo on May 7th, 2012 because I have been spotting since April 11th, 2012, the spotting instanly stopped but then my period started on the 16th and I have spotting since then, this is consuming my life, tired of buy pads, my social life has been shot to hell. ## If the side effects of this medication are too bothersome or unpredictable, I think it may be in your best interest to ask your doctor about switching medications or opting for a more natural alternative. One natural alternative that I can think of off the top of my head is Clary Sage essential oil, which is used to help with a wide array of menstrual related problems; including but not limited to regulating periods and easing any pain that may be associated with them. I think it would also b...

I took my Wednesday blue pill in the third week, 8 hours late, I usually take it between 10-11 at night and when I woke up Thursday morning I realized I forgot it so I took it at 7 in the morning. Am I ok? My fiancé and I had unprotected sex later that day twice and he finished in me both times. I just want to know if I can stop worrying, thanks ## You should have still been protected, as long as you took in within 24hours, preferable within the first 12 and you were within that time frame. However, there is always a small chance of getting pregnant, so if you don't start your menstrual cycle, be sure to contact your doctor for a pregnancy test. Can u get prego by taking fruta bio while on implanon ## Hi Lucy, Regarding one of the active ingredients found in fruta bio (known as Sibutramine), there is a precautionary statement pertaining to it's use with birth control that reads as follows: "You should use effective birth control to be sure you do not become pregnant while you are taking sibutramine. Ask your doctor if you need help choosing a method of birth control." Referecned from: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a601110.html I personally don't think that taking fruta bio is worth the risk of getting pregnant, but it really depends on how effective Implanon is for you. Even if you're aware of Implanon's effectiveness, in my opinion, it's still taking a risk and you'd just have to be your...

Hey! Anyone else notice that the box instructions give detailed instructions for what you should do if you miss any amount of pills on any given week except if you miss only 1 on the 4th week? I just took my last blue pill on week 4 before I start the white but have started having diarrhea (sorry to get graphic guys!) and assume I should treat it as a missed pill. However, it doesn't tell me what to do! I have looked everywhere. Advice? Has this ever happened to you before & what did you do? Thanks :) ## Yes, that's what the detailed instructions say, the only time you don't have to worry about missing one is if it's the last 2 brown tablets in the package. Ive been on Yaz for two years and hae suffered some awful side effects, heres a link that helped me out alot and gave me some great info: "(December 8, 2011) The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will ask outside experts on Thursday about Yaz and several other birth control pills that contain a man-made hormone called drospirenone, which was heavily marketed as carrying fewer side effects than the earlier drugs. But over the last two years, several large, independent studies suggest the rate of blood clots with drugs with the hormone is slightly higher than with other drugs. Most recent analysis by the FDA looked at medical records of 800,000 US women and found that the risk of a blood clot with drospirenone-containing pills was higher than other hormone-based contraceptives. The o...

I'm 17 years old, and started Loestrin 24 fe roughly 4 months ago. Ever since I've started I've experienced dizzy spells, nausea, migraines, mood swings, and significant weight loss. I lost 7 pounds without trying (leaving me at 110 pounds) Has anyone else experienced this too, or should I be concerned about something other than birth control? ## You should definitely contact your doctor, those are normal side effects for oral contraceptives. They can cause some minor symptoms, but they should definitely not be that severe. Thus, there is a concern it may be more than just the pills causing it. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. I have just started Tri Sprintec. I am on the last week (white pills) of my first pack and I started my period today (June 12) and it is really light. Should I be worried or is it suppose to be light? I'm confused. ## There are hormonal based contraceptives, so it is normal for them to cause menstrual irregularities, it could be lighter, or heavier than normal, you may also skip altogether.
