I just had my son 6 weeks ago and am starting Sprintec for the first time. Do I have to wait until i get my period before I can start the first pill or can i start it and it will make me start my period? ## Hello, Mindy! How are you? When were you told to start it? Generally, you can start it at any time, but if you're not on your period, it will take 7 days to reach its full level of efficacy in the body, so you'll need to use some other form of protection, until the 8th day of taking a pill each day, without missing any. And no, the active pills won't start your period. You should get it during the last week of pills. The FDA lists typical side effects of hormonal contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, breakthrough bleeding, irritability and PMS ...

So far I haven't experienced spotting since the 3rd month after I started taking the pills, however today I noticed very slight spotting. Is this anything to be concerned with? I'm very consistent taking my pills and when ever I'm late taking them it is usually only 15-30minutes behind schedule. As far as sex goes my boyfriend and I don't get to see each other much so I only had sex 1 time since starting this pack and that was 2 days ago and he pulled out. Is there anything to be concerned about?

I recently started taking sprintec birth control again after going without it for a couple of months, this time I started it on the first day of my period which is the "day 1 start" I came on my period July 22nd & I am still on, it usually only lasts 5-7 days so I'm a little scared now being that its been 20 days, there first 7 days I had a heavy flow like my normal pd but after the first 7 days it's been light and barely there, I talked to my doctor when the first 14 days had passed and she said that things like this can happen, has anything like this happend to anyone else? & ifso how long is it going to persist like this? And what should I do? ## Hello, Jenny! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. However, your doctor is correct,...

I am taking Dronis 30 since 5 months. Doctor has adviced me to take MCBM and Concevel 3 months prior to concieve.. Should i stop Dronis 30 before i start MCBM and Concevel or can I take MCBM along with Dronis 30.. Thank you for the answer ## Dronis is an oral contraceptive that is used to prevent pregnancy, so if you're trying to rebalance your hormones to increase your chance of pregnancy, you are probably not supposed to take it, but only your doctor can give you a definitive answer. However, generally, you are supposed to stop them, at least 3 months, before becoming pregnant. Side effects to stopping them may include irregular periods, nausea, diarrhea and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## thank you Doctor ## I am not a doctor! You need to speak to your do...

Period started at 11pm Sunday. Started taking my pills at 7am Monday. I keep waking up after 7am and so i'm taking pills at 8:30a, 9:00a. I'm finally in week two now and I missed a pill yesterday. I realized it when I woke up and was bleeding. I took two this morning to make up for the missed blue pill. How do I change my time from 7am to like...12pm? And did I start too late to begin with? If this is my period beginning, do I continue taking the pills or throw this pack out? I'm so confused!! (first time BCer) ## I am very sorry about the confusion and am happy to help clear this up for you. If you started them on the first or second day of your period, then you started when you should have and are immediately protected against pregnancy, since they will prevent ovulation t...

I have been taking Lomedia 24fe for 6 months, have never missed a pill and take at same time every day. I always had a light period before taking the pill and had spotting when taking the brown pills for the first 4 months but have not had a period the past two months. Is it normal to stop having a period while taking Lomedia 24fe? Pregancy tests are negative. ## I've also been exactly on lomedia for 6 months. This month I didn't get a period, haven't missed a pill at all. I'll be taking a pregnancy test, though I have no signs of pregnancy. It's kind of freaking me out too! ## Hello, Annabelle and Suzanne! How are both of you ladies? Yes, some women don't have periods, when taking oral contraceptives. If you're worried, please consult your respective doctors...

Hi there, Ive had the Jadelle in my arm for nearly 4 years now, since my son was 6 weeks old, but ever since ive had it in, my periods have been so irregular. Sometimes ill go for 3days and then miss my period for a few months then ill bleed for a month and more. Im so over the long periods, i just want things to go back to normal. Really thinking of taking it out now. ## Hello, Haze! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. That is a very common side effect to the Jadelle implant, according to those listed by the FDA, you may also experience headache, weight gain, mood swings and PMS like symptoms. Many woman have had it removed due to such issues. Have you ever tried oral contraceptives?

need to know what this med is thx, was prescribed as part of a packet prescription in Korea. It doesn't show up in any pill identifier. thx ## I got this just now too and am trying to find information. As a woman taking birth control is is really frustrating to not know what I am being given but what is my choice but to be sick or take it. I need to know how things will interact and what they are to be a self informed public and not have complications.

I began taking Lo Loestrin Fe December 15th on the first day of my period. The first week, I took one pill about 4-5 hours late but continued my schedule as usual afterward. Then, I switched from taking it in the morning to taking it at night. The first 3 weeks I was on it, I had absolutely no side effects. The last day of my 3rd week, I started bleeding, cramping and getting bad back pain, which is completely normal for my periods. But, it was 4 days prior to taking the placebo pills. My GYN said it was breakthrough bleeding. However, I continued to bleed all week, through my placebo pills. The bleeding was lighter than normal but I still needed a tampon. I think it was my period coming early (which never happens), instead of breakthrough bleeding. The following week, I had all my typi...

So i took a break from taking sprintec birth control pills for a month. I stopped in November and started taking them again in January. My period checker stated i was supposed to have my period 2 days later. Ive started the pills beginning on sunday now i have a brown discharge, is this normal? Am I ok? ## Hello, Chanel! How are you? Well, when you're on oral contraceptives, your period will adjust to them and not stay on its usual schedule, additionally, by stopping for a month, you threw your hormones levels off and a period checker would most likely not be totally accurate, anyway, since it doesn't take that into account. And, since restarting some unusual breakthrough bleeding is also to be expected, as listed by the FDA, other side effects may include headaches, irritabilit...

Hello! I'm going on vacation on the 19th of Feb. I haven't taken birth control in a few years and before I use to take Lorestrin 24. My February period was exspected to start the day I left for vacation, so my OB suggested i started on Lorestrin 21 on the first day of my January cycle in hope to start by Febraury period the week before my vacation, shorten the period or possible delay it all together. I started my period yesterday, 1/22 and i took my 1st pill at 9:30PM. Im very worried aboout my body not responding well to this pill and the plan not working cousing me to be on my period for vacation next month. Since i've only taken 1 pill so far, is it safer to not continue at all and look into another option, or keep going as planned and if I have a period, is it safe to t...

Just started minastrin ... Just took the second brown pill last night and my period is here... Do I continue taking the brown pills or do I now start the white ones again???? ## Finish taking the pills in the pack daily, you don't start a new pack, until you start a new cycle, so finish the brown ones. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

My period normally only lasts for four days tops. But it's been going on for over a week, I'm not on birth control. It's not a heavy flow, it's just a dark red. Is there something that be causing this? I'm just kind of over it. ## Hello, Marie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you've having. Has it stopped, yet? A normal length period is actually considered anywhere from 3 to 10 days, anything shorter or longer is considered abnormal and should be checked out by your doctor. This can sometimes happen due to a hormonal imbalance. When was your last pap smear?

I'm really good at taking my blue pill everyday, I do not think I've missed a single one until today...very odd but I was making my bed today and I found a blue pill in my blankets??!!! I just started a new pack and I'm 5 days into it...my pills are always in my purse....so I have no idea what to do, do I take it? I have not had intercourse, so I'm not worried about that... What should I do? ## Hello, JennyB! How are you? Have you compared it to the pills in your pack to make sure it is one of the OCs? If you haven't had intercourse, missing one isn't a big deal, but you may experience some breakthrough bleeding or spotting. However, you should be aware that it would be best not to have unprotect intercourse for the first 7 days of making sure you continuously ta...

Hi, I was on the depo shot and my doctor switched me to sprintec. It says to wait until the Sunday of my first period, however the after effects of depo shot has caused me to miss two periods. There is no chance of me being pregnant, took a test to confirm it. Can I just start taking the pills now? ## Hello, Bl! How are you? Unless your doctor has told you not to start them at any other time, you can start them now, but you should know that starting them at any other time in your cycle will not result in them being immediately effective at preventing pregnancy. Thus, you'll need to use a backup form of contraception for the first 7 days of being on it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, break...

I used to take Sprintec and my period would start on Mondays. I was off of it a few months because my prescription ran out and it took me a while to get to the doctor. I want to stay with a Monday start so what day should I start back taking my pills? ## Hello, Keshia! How are you? You can start them on a Monday, as long as your doctor approves and it doesn't necessarily have to be when you are on your period. You can start them at any time during your cycle, but if you aren't on your period, it will take 7 days for them to reach their full level of efficacy in the body to prevent pregnancy. So, you'll need to use a back up form of protection, until the 8th day. The FDA lists the most common side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headach...

This is my 3rd month on tri sprintec and I'm having a light period. I already contacted my doctor and the nurse said my body is getting use to the pill also I took two pregnancy test and they were negative. Now I am having severe back pain and can't hardly move. My mom things I hurt when I took my boyfriends Christmas down and carried the box upstairs a few days ago. She has had 5 kids and doesn't think I'm pregnant. Do you think the back pain is unrelated to the light period? ## Hello, Ayla! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. The back pain could be due to cramping caused by the hormones in the oral contraceptive, or it may be due to the exertion of taking down the tree, only your doctor can let you know for sure, but cramping while on OCs is a common si...
