I'm starting a new pack tomorrow, can I change my time to 6:45am? will I still be protected? ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Yes, that should be fine, unless your doctor feels otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?
I usually take my pill everyday from 9:30-10p & on Friday (third week) I accidentally forgot to take my pill so I didn't take it til' about 4a on Saturday. & Saturday i took it at about 11p but last night I forgot my pill again & didn't take it til' 5:30a this morning (Monday, 4th week) but now i'm afraid I was supposed to take 2 pills to make up for it. I'm confused on what to do. Today is now my 4th week so I start on my first sugar pill as of tonight. What will happen? Is there any chance I can get pregnant this way? My boyfriend & I had unprotected sex just yesterday... Please help :(
Updated in Tri-SprintecWat to travel to North hence wanted to prepone my periods. ## Hi Swathi, When it comes to medications that can alter the timing of your menstrual cycle, this typically involves the use of hormonal contraceptives. These are prescribed by your doctor or gynecologist. I don't recall the exact dosing protocols that make this possible, but taking the active/inactive pills at certain intervals may either prepone or postpone periods. As far as choosing a medication, I often hear about Loestrin Fe and Sprintec birth control tablets being used in such a manner. However, your prescriber should be able to give you specific instructions that allow you to tailor the timing of your period to your individual needs with whatever brand of contraceptive he/she sees fit. I hope this helps!
I have been taking Minastrin 24 fe for two months and was swallowing the pill. but I just read on the pack that it's supposed to be chewed? is it still effective if I have been swallowing them? ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Yes, that should still be fine. Chewing them just helps you absorb it faster than swallowing, but they will still work. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Have you talked to your doctor about it? It may be okay for you to continue swallowing them whole.
I took the Tri-sprintec 28 day supply, and I still have yet to have a (period) cycle begin , but I am experiencing menstrual like cycle cramps? This I've never dealt with I would like to point out that (I'm 5'8, 335 LBS. women) any thought to what I may be experiencing also prior to this event I walked 5k every day on a 3 week raw life style W/O any(minimal) Animal products ;-) ## Hello, KattyBUG! How are you? Some women don't experience periods, while taking this oral contraceptive, so it's nothing to worry about, unless your doctor feels otherwise. Your weight could also be affecting it, as listed by the FDA, some oral contraceptives aren't as effective for overweight women. Your weight could also worsen the PCOS and mess up your natural body hormones, so you c...
Does it hurt getting Jadelle implants taken out? If it does, is is worse pain than getting wisdom teeth taken out? It is possible to be asleep during the procedure? I am undecided whether I want to go on Jadelle implants or get Depo Provera injections? I like the idea of Jadelle because it is long term contraception, which Depo Provera is not. I like the idea of not going to the doctor regularly to obtain contraception, as I find it difficult to get to the doctor and I like the idea of long term contraception. Please advise. ## No it does not hurt they give you an aesthetic and no you do not need to be asleep as you do not feel a thing. Quick and easy. ## Thank you for that. do you get many side effects from using Jadelle, such as migranes and weight gain? Does antibiotics affect it? Pl...
I took plan B on July 28th. I had protected sex, but to be safe, I took plan B. I got my period on August 4th. Before my period, I had a bit of light pink discharge that I feared was implantation bleeding, but I'm thinking it was just spitting from plan B. That period lasted for two weeks, ending on the 17th of August. I have had sex since I took plan B (protected and with much caution). My period was supposed to start on September 1st, but it's now the 8th and it hasn't started yet. I have sore breasts, I feel bloated, but no period. Anyone have any ideas?
Updated in Plan BI had unprotected sex yesterday at approximately 5 am. The partner was only in me for less than a min, less than 30 seconds I would even guess. We were alone and decided to try it for feels. Needless to say, he never released in me. Yesterday at around 11am I woke up and felt horrible about everything. I also felt as though I was ovulating, but I don't track my cycle very well. I just go by feel, since I am not usually sexually active. By 2am, and after some research, I went and bought the Plan B pill and took it. Today I am feeling the dizziness side effects, as well as that feeling of ovulating (a strange pulled-muscle feeling coming from my lower back and side). However, I am scared the pill won't work?! I'm afraid yesterday was my first day of ovulating. I know the partn...

Shouldn't my period stop when I'm taking these pills ? ## Hello, Georgia! How are you? No, they may shorten the duration of your period, but they won't stop it that fast. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?
I started my pills on Thursday 8/6 and didnt relable the days of weeks. I started right on thursday, now I'm down to taking the white ones. Do I take the 4 blue ones that are left or start a new packet? ## Hello, Carol! How are you? Really, you should have taken them before you started the last week of the pack. However, since you didn't, if you're already having your period, then you should most likely just start a new pack and dispose of them, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and breakthrough bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?
I missed 2 blue pills in week 3 of my pack. I normally take them at night. I forgot to take pills Sat night and Sunday night. I remembered Monday morning and took both, then took Monday's pill Monday night and have continued with the pack. I now see that I should have thrown out the pack after missing two and started fresh. I had intercourse at the start of my week 4 pills - should I be concerned about pregnancy? ## Hello, Danielle! How are you? Yes, if you missed pills there is an increased risk of pregnancy. Usually, they instruct you to wait and see if your period is late and, if it goes 7 days or more late, then to have it checked out, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headac...

so I started birth control (sprintec) the second day I got my period. I started it Saturday night and took it the next morning (Sunday) when I woke up. I went tubing that day and had my period the whole day like normal. then the next day I did not bleed much it was that awkward brown sort of thing and then I completely stopped bleeding a couple days after that. I'm on the "placebo" week of my first pill pack. I'm about to take my 3rd pill of my placebo week and I still haven't gotten my period. is it my body just getting use to taking this pill?? ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? I'd like to change the time of my dose from 7am to 9pm. I am on week 2 of my pills. Can I just begin taking them in the evening? Or do I need to do it gradually? Thanks! ## Generally, you have a window of 24 hours, before it would be considered missing a pill, so you should be fine to switch the time, unless your doctor says otherwise. However, since that is a gap of 14 hours, it may result in some more breakthrough bleeding or spotting than usual, for a few days or so. Other side effects to oral contraceptives, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello I also have a question related to timing. I have been on the pill for 3 months because I was not getting a period. Doc...
I am a Sunday starter and usually take my pills around 11am. I wasn't able to stay my new pack until Monday around 8 pm. I took both Mondays and Sundays pills (2 pills) at 8pm Monday. Do i need a backup contraception? Would this be considered missing two pills? ## Hello, Jessie! How are you? No, that would just be considered missing one and late for the other, so you shouldn't need any backup, unless your doctors feels otherwise. However, to be cautious, you could use a backup method for 7 days to be sure. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and weight gain.
