What's the difference in the powder blue pill on week 2 vs. The blue pill on week 3 ## Hello, Shon! How are you? If you are referring to Tri-Sprintec, or it's generic equivalents, the doses of the hormones vary each week, then the last week is hormone free to induce a period. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I have been taking Minastrin 24 for 6 months now and when i first started taking it I would get my period twice a month for the first two months. (during the white pills and brown) then I would still get it twice but really lightly. but for the past two months its been really light for 2-3 days twice a month. Am i pregnant?!?!? I've also been very stressed out with work for awhile and i know that makes it irregular. ## If you haven't missed any pills, it isn't very likely that you're pregnant. It can be normal to have irregular bleeding, very light periods or to skip periods, when taking oral contraceptives, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Some women stop having periods entirely. Is there anything else I c...

Hi this is my. 10 month of having the jadelle implant and just a few weeks now have been having really bad chest shoulder n neck pain. Are the implants the cause. Went to docs n was diagnosed with gas n given meds but still pain persists. Pls help ## Hello, Igadum! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. What was the doctor's diagnosis and what medication did they prescribe? Hormonal contraceptives don't usually cause such symptoms as typical side effect. The U.S. FDA lists theirs as typically including nausea, dizziness, headache, PMS-like symptoms and mood swings. ## Diagnosed as having gas and given gastrogel tablets. Nothing has helped.

I started Sprintec about a week and a half ago. I take the pill at 10 p.m., on a full stomach, and two hours before bed (so I sleep through it). I've taken Sprintec once before, many months ago, and taking it during the day was terrible for me. Anyone know about how long the nausea takes to pass? Thank you! ## Nausea can be normal, when you're experiencing hormonal fluctuations, many women experience it if they suffer from PMS, PCOD, perimenopause or menopause. It shouldn't take long to clear up, perhaps a couple of weeks, it should ease up once your body gets used to the medication. Learn more Sprintec details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I read somewhere that nausea means your liver isn't digesting the hormones effectively. Is this true? It's da...

I got the implanon back in August of 2015. Everything seemed fine at first and I had the unpredictable periods for a bit but they went away. Well my biggest side effect is hair loss. Yes it is a side effect, I've done lots of research on it. Some people don't think it is but for me it's a bad one and I know people who have this side effect too from implanon. My question is has anyone else experienced this? If so, how long did it last and what supplements did you take to fix this problem? ## Hello, Hope! How are you? That isn't a normal side effect of this contraceptive, as reported by the U.S. FDA. The typical ones are listed as usually including insertion site pain, irritation, headache, irritability and irregular bleeding. Hair loss, however, is a sign of hormonal imba...

Does it deactivate my birth control? I have a very bad infection in my colon. I'm 27. My doctor said it's common in older adults so I'm trying to fight it. My body is in a lot of pain.. I'm so bloated I just want to roll over and die. ## Yes, this antibiotic can reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives, so it would be best to take other precautions to prevent pregnancy, while taking it. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking Mono-linyah for about 2 months. I've been having extremely heavy periods and they stop for maybe 3 days and they are right back throughout the blue and white pills. Its to the point that I'm about to try something else. Normally my period lasts about 3 to 4 days and its gone. I've tried the Depo shot but had a bad problem with weight loss due to it. Is there any b/c pill that more or less stops your period? I know its natural but I'm a very active person working 6 days a week with how painful its been some days its hard to even be standing straight up ## Hello, Tamara! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you're experiencing. Those types of issues can be normal for the first 3 months or so, of taking a new oral contraceptive, but wi...

I have never used birth control and weeks ago I went to the gyno and she prescribed me sprintec. I have been waiting to get my period to start taking it but my period is very late. My period is usually regular and sometimes it gets delayed for a few days but never this much. It's been 40 days since my last period. I've been stressing about it which I know that is no good and can delay it even more. I'm planning to have sex for the first time in two weeks so I really want to start using the pill to prevent an unwanted pregnancy but I don't know if I should start taking it now. Can I take it now before my period? Should I be safe in two weeks if I do?

This is a weird situation. We had intercourse on April 29th. Minutes after we finished, she started her menstrual cycle (just trust me that it was her menses cause it always starts either end or start of the month). We only knew about nordette just days ago and I learned it's effective only up to 120 hours so she took it yesterday 11am which was the 117th-118th hour or the 5th day after being intimate and also the the 5th day of her menses (which btw just stopped now). She already had her second dose by the 11pm same day. She vomited just this morning and has felt other symptoms aside from bleeding and the white discharge. Questions: -How will we know if it worked? -Will she still have withdrawal bleeding despite already having menses? -Will she have another (real) menstrual cycle c...

I am first starting sprintec because I have irregular and painful periods. My Doctor said to start taking them on a Sunday when my periods start, I have had the pills for a month unable to start them because of my irregular periods, can I just start them any day? ## Hello, Alena! How are you? Yes, you can if your doctor approves, but if you start them when you aren't on your period, you will need to take them for a full 7 days, before they will become effective at preventing pregnancy. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, spotting and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello i have a question i have been very irrgular and unable to have periods i started my birth cont...

I have been on this pill for 11 months now... since September 2014. My periods were irregular at first but started to become more regular. In the middle of June I missed 2 pills in a row. I took them both the next day however. I then started my period a week early right after I took those 2 pills late (I was camping with girls who were on their period, so I figured that's why I started early). Once I got off of my period, I had unprotected intercourse with my boyfriend. I have not missed a pill since those 2 in June but it is now time that I should be having my period if it is a normal 26-32 day cycle. I usually wouldn't start until the end of the month but last month I started in the middle. I am worried because I have been experiencing what could be pregnancy symptoms. I notic...

Hello im on week four of the birth control patch going on day three and my period has not started is this normal ## Hello, Tee! How are you? I'm sorry, but I'm not clear, are you wearing a patch this week or not? Because you're only supposed to wear them for 3 weeks, then take the fourth week off. However, either way, yes it can be normal to have irregular periods due to the hormones in them. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms.

My dr gave me thes sprintec bc stop my period I took them for a week and a half I started them to regulate my cycle to get pregnant do one if the pills make you fertile if I take just the blue or white 1s ## No, these pills will not improve your fertility and help you to get pregnant, while you are taking them they actually prevent pregnancy. From what you're describing, it seems he's given them to you so they could help rebalance the hormones in your body, to improve your chances of getting pregnant later, when you stop taking them. However, you won't get pregnant while you are taking them. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. I started taking Lo loestrin fe on the first day of my period, but I also took an adovan that morning, I had a antibiotic shot a couple days earlier. I stopped all other medications after the first day of taking Lo. Am I still covered since I took it on day 1? ## Some antibiotics can alter the efficacy of oral contraceptives. Which antibiotic were you given? The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. The Ativan wouldn't affect it.

I am on my 3rd pack/month. I am spotting/feeling very PMS during the second week and have been getting my period during the 3 week, well before the inative week. I am gaining weight. Since I have gotten my period I don't feel like there is any chance I am pregnant. Any help? ## Hello, Niki! How are you? I'm sorry about the issues you've been having. Irregular bleeding and PMS symptoms can be normal for the first 3 months, or so, while your body is getting used to the new hormonal balance from oral contraceptives. Things should settle down soon, unless your doctor feels there is reason for concern. If they continue, however, you may need to switch to a different OC, as these just might not be the right ones for you. The weight gain is also normal, most women gain about 10 pou...

I wanted to know if it is safe to take the dianne pill when I am on eltroxin,1mg a day.I just feel like I'm putting on weight and very moody so not sure if it is the pill, only been taking the dianne for almost 2 months and eltroxin for about 5 years.I do blood tests every 6 months to check my thyroid ## Hello, Allison! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're having. Those can be normal side effects of both of these medications. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and spotting, as reported by the U.S. FDA. It isn't noted as being dangerous to take them, together, but side effects can happen with any medication. Is your doctor aware that you are taking both?

A couple of weeks ago, I took my 1st white pill instead of last blue pill on accident. the week before this, I had a 3 day SUPER light period, almost spotting-like. I took the last blue pill the next day, and the last white pill the day after that. That same day, I started cramping and I bled for 7 days straight, and it looked like an actual normal period, not just spotting. I'm guessing this came about from taking the pills out of order. My "period" ended on Wednesday of last week. Just 2 days ago (Saturday), I started to have light spotting again when going to the bathroom. Doctor told me to use extra protection if my fiancé and I are active when this pill mix up happened, but we haven't even done anything at all since it has happened, I don't want a pregnancy...
