Bipolar Diagnosis

I was dx bipolar in 2002. I was in bad shape...hospitalized nine times within a year. The Dr had me so messed up on meds, I was a zombie. Absolutely no quality of life. I rather be a little manic rather than a zombie. After four years of psych meds I stopped everything. It was no way to live. I also have fibromyalgia. Now the only psych med I take is Celexa and I've not had any major bipolar issues. I take Methadone, Morphine Instant Relief three times a day, along with Soma twice a day for muscle cramps. Those keep my fibromyalgia at bay....for the most part. My fear is the bipolar will rear it's ugly head one-day and I'll be right back in that bad place. I'm always waiting for the bottom to fall out. It's cause me to be anxious.I'm just hoping and praying it won't come back with a vengeance. It's hard to live not knowing if one day I'll wake up and want to kill myself. I don't want to take those potent psych meds ever again.

Hello, Donna! How are you doing?

There's really no way to say for sure, it depends on the person. Some people do well without medications, but most don't.

However, the good news is that the FDA is regularly approving new medications and therapies to help such conditions, so if it does happen, you may not have to resort back to your prior medication nightmare.

Are you still seeing your psych regularly?
