Biphetamine Treatment (Page 2)

Originally used for weight reduction--it is available for treatment of ADD. I was originally prescribed it for the former, but found it more effective for treatment of ADD than other drugs such as ADDERALL. If not currently available through your company, can you provide sufficient information for pharmacists to formulate this.

I REMEMBER BIPHETAMINE 20 AND I NEVER KNEW THAT I HAD ADHD. I JUST REMEMBER THE ONLY TIME I EVER FELT OKAY WAS WHEN I TOOK BIPHETAMINES. NOW I AM BEING TREATED FOR ADHD AND THEY HAVE DISCONTINUED THE ONLY DRUG THAT REALLY WORKED: BIPHETAMINE. THE STREETS ARE FLOODED WITH OXYCONTIN, KILLING KIDS EVERY DAY! ALOT OF DRUGS ARE ABUSED..WHY TAKE BIPHETAMINES AWAY???

Fisons Corporation made biphetamines until 1998. After that, they were no more.

they were originally manufactured by RJS when penwalt acquired the company they were given the penwalt marking along with the #18-875 later just 875 they were wonderful!

When you mention that Adderall and Biphetamine are the same, there is one very distinct difference because biphetamine is a resin complex made of two dexedrine formulas. The resin makes it an automatic time release and prevents persons who abuse substances from injecting it because it is not water soluble.

Biphetamine was removed from the USA marketplace, during 1999, by Fisons Pharmaceuticals, formerly, Pennwalt Pharmaceuticals, formerly, the "hot selling" black beauties marketed by "Strasenburgh" embossed "RJ
S" either in all black , black and white capsules, White, black and green or red and black capsules, the latter containing 45 mg of Methaqualone, which, specifically was removed from the marketplace in July of 1973, as were all amphetamines with barbituates or hypnotics, with the exception of SKF's "Dexamyl" which remained on the market until 1982.(a favorite of late actor John Bulishi)
by the way, "Adderall" is just a slick madison avenue marketing name, when the buyout of the trademark "Obetrol" diet pill was transacted in 1993. In fact, "Obetrol, prior to the mid 1980's, was much, much stronger than the new age Adderall with 50% of the formula containing methamphetamine. Source: PDR's from 1965 to 1985. Yes I remember the Preludin 25 mg I/R and the Preludin extended release 75 mg tablets, from my undergraduate years during 1970, and 1971. I compared it to Biphetamine, Desoxyn, Benzedrine Spansules, and, Dexedrine Spansules, and it was "stronger than death" in potency, equal (in my interpretation) to the I/R 5 mg Desoxyn pure methamphetamine. Unfortunately, "Preludin"has been removed off of the entire world marketplace for some time now. Source:

"quote Biphetamine 12 1/2 each capsule contains exchange resins complexes, equivalent to: Amphetamine 6.25mg, Dextroamphetamine 6.25mg. black and white capsules, NDC code 0585-0878-71, and, Biphetamne
20, each capsule contains catonic exchange resin complexes equivalent to: Amphetamine 10mg, Dextroamphetamine 10mg. black capsules, National Drug Code 0585-0875-71. I have the actual tape of his speech, "Complications of Medicating",IMHO, the most authorative, M.D. speech, on the use of all stimulants, available, at that 1998 conference. The tape was produced by Cheapeake Audio/Video Communications, Inc. 6330 Howell St., Eldridge, MD 21075, Phone (410) 796-0040. (a audio cassette).
More positive references on "Biphetamine" are in the book Synopsis of Psychiatry 7th edition (1994) by the late Harold I Kaplan MD, Benjamin J Saddock M.D. &
Jack A Crebb, M.D. on page 891, Biphetamine is listed, as approved, quote by "the Food & Drug Adminisration recommends, the use of amphetamine only for weight reduction and ADHD, specifically with a asterick, by the Fisons Corp. product Biphetamine sustained release capsule.
I did not know I had ADD or ADHD, but, it was available from 1967 until 1976, with contacts, around exam time, (for me) and, it worked like magic for me, as I labored, for 7 years, to acheive my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology. My contacts, including, fraternity brothers, to, once a college roomate, who had a father, who was the owner and pharmacist, of, a independant pharmacy in Georgia, while I attended the University of GA in Athens, Ga.
I am ignorant if a compounding pharmacy can make this drug, IMHO, I doubt it, but I currently use the only compounding pharmacy in my city, for another, med, that is no longer produced in "the USA" but is produced, in Europe, "I had my M.D. write a script for this non controlled substance, (antihistamine) after I verified, it was still made in Europe, from, the 36th edition of Martindale: The Extra Pharmacopoeia, (2009) publisher Pharmaceuetical Press, London UK. a 2 volume set of books containing 3,694 pages of ethical pharmaceuticals, available in 40 countries, of the modern industrialized world. Biphetamine is not listed.
It was "in the top three of all amphetamines I have ever taken, for effectiveness, and its smooth long lasting ability to enable me to focus my often scattered way of concentrating" the second one, Desbutal Gradumet, 15 mg tablet, contained 15 mg of Methamphetamine HCI, and 97 mg of Sodium Pentobarbital, mfg was Abbott Labs, the last one, was
"Dexedrine Spansule" mfg, Smith Kline French, later, SK Beecham, until most recently, Glaxo Smith Kline, in the 15 mg famous tapered end extended release capsule, allegations, are that, "Dexedrine Spansule" available from 1952, until 2010, has been removed off of the market. Allegedly, a small pharmaceutical firm, has just negotiated the rights, to re-produce, "Dexedrine Spansules" as the price, has "gone thru the roof" from 1995 until around 2005, the Average Wholesale Price, was, one dollar each for 15 mg, on a RX, and, was sold to me by prescription, for, $86.00 for sixty 15 mg. caps, in 2005, $1.43 each. By the year 2009, Dexedrine Spansule (brand by GSK) had a average wholesale price, of, a stunning, $300.06, for 15 mg, NDC code 00007-3514-59, Source: REDBOOK PHARMACY'S FUNDAMENTAL REFERENCE 113th year of publication, by PDR Inc. on page 378, for one bottle of ninety (90) Dexedrine Spansules. produced "Biphetamine-T" in 12 1/2 (black and green capsules) and "Biphetamine-T" in 20 mg capsules, containing, (12 1/2's) 6.25 mg of d-amphetamine, 6.25 mg of dl-amphetamine, Tuaqualone (methaqualone 40 mg. while, the Biphetamine -T contained, "Resin compounds again, of, 10 mg. of d-amphetamine, 10 mg. of dl-amphetamine, 40 mg of Tuazole (methaqualone) in the once very popular, half black, and half red, capsules, embossed, RJS. Source: page 1131 of the 1968 PDR. page 1166 of 1966 PDR, and, the page 1090, under Pennwalt Corp, of Rochester, New York USA, from the 1973 Physicians Desk Reference, a Schedule II drug. (the last year that target specific stimulant combination drug, with Methaqualone, was manufactured, along with other, amphetamine combination drugs with sedatives, due to a DEA ordinance, that took effect in July of 1973, leaving Biphetamine alone, available, for 25 more years.

Dexedrine isn't dextro-amphetamine, which is much less potent. A lot of former narcolepsy and obesity patients wondered where the resin went. It is my suspicion that it was the main ingredient of the illegal "tar heroin" that so many street users are missing, the way those who had prescriptions at the pharmacy missed RJS, then Pennwalt, when they went to the streets.

I was on 1 form or other of biphetamine from third grade thru 12th grade, so over 9 yrs.
Does anyone know of any long term side effects of this med?

We had biphetamine "black bueaties" well into the 80's in Denver. I would go with my friend to fill his Rx at skaggs and albertsons drug stores in 85' every month. And I never took any but he abused them tremendously.

you all talk like Biphetamines were just wonderful. I for one was forced to take for weights loss. I have been messed up ever since. 3rd thru 12th grade-9 years, has taken its toll. I have not been able to take a no- drowsy med since. This is really hard. So many script meds contain ingredients I have reaction too.
I cannot even take a benedryl . Makes me sleep for 30 mins then wired.
What I want to know is if others have this problem.

I am 71 and had the exact same experience. Went through graduate school successfully in the early 70's after being prescribed for weight control. I too good not have been able to do so without it. In my 50's was prescribed Adderall fpr ADD, but it had a negative effect. I,too, have wondered if age had anything to do with it. I even searched for the same effect in illegal drugs, but this caused the predictable problems.
