Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 66)

Updated

Is narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?

Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?

Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?

Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.

Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.

The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.

While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.

In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.

What will you do?

Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

Good afternoon my friend.

Yesterday was a complete s*** show.

Today I found a wonderful place I called at 9 and they got me in at 12:30. He was great. He had given me a prescription for suboxone 8 mg twice a day and I go back next week then he'll give me a 28-day supply. I'll be good to go. You have been such a friend to me and you have given me so much information. You are an inspiration to so many. I just adore you and I don't even know you. I'll keep you posted... withdrawals are ahead of me but I can handle it, I'm tough. LOL, Have a great evening my friend. Thank you for everything. :)

Have you ever thought about going into counseling my friend? Because I think you're wonderful. I always forget to ask how are you doing?

Re: Valerie (# 1283) Expand Referenced Message

Hi valerie, I had my doctor's visit yesterday, I only go every 3 months for my subutex treatment prescriptions. So I was just about done the visit only last 10 minutes. I remembered what u had said about detoxing for 3 days, he said he has never heard of it before either. I meantion u are not in the state of Florida, but he still said usually if the patient wants to be admitted. But has never crossed that path before.... they usually just ask what your on at the moment, they give u a script and then they tell u how many hours after your last dose that u can start talking it..and the most hours is usually 12 hours after your past dose of pain pills..maybe u can call q few different doctors just to ask it..even if u have no intentions of using them..but just info..let me know..

Hello friend....I found a great doctor and that's pretty much what he said. He said the first place I went to pretty much sounded like they were completely uneducated to subutex and suboxone. He said he thought they were just after the insurance and I agree. It appears I have a great Doc and I'm on the road to being PILL FREE. God is good.

And thank you for everything. It's been a pleasure chatting back and forth to you and we'll catch up here in the next 2 or 3 days. Oh Happy Days Ahead. Have a great evening. If this makes no sense I'm trying to cook dinner and bathe my granddaughter. LOL.

Have a good night.

A "BIG SHOUT OUT" to everyone, I hope you're having a blessed evening.

What worries me now is a lot of us are moving onto Suboxone or Subutex and what scares me to death is they're going to make it hard or impossible to get the medications and that petrifies me. What I went through Monday morning at 7:30 and didn't finish up until after 4:30 was a complete s***show, it was unreal what they wanted me to do in order to get this medication. And of course I would have told them to stick it up there ass but they didn't tell me until about 20 minutes before I was done with all the paperwork and all the bulls*** and trust me it was a lot of bulls***. So I basically was just trying to jump through the hoops. They wanted me to go into the hospital and detox of course off the Percocet which was so stupid. Plus they wanted me to go to the hospital so they could taper me off of my Klonopin and watch me. Just some humor here what were they watching for, for me to turn into a frog or something?? LOL... I basically told them kick rocks it was crazy. Thank goodness I found a good doctor today. I was on a mission and I won.

They got us on the pain pills. What's next? We have to stick together and fight like HELL. I'm ready, is anyone else? I'm like so many others, I'm just over the bulls***. Bring it on, I'm ready to fight.

Have a good evening and I apologize in advance for offending anyone that I just wrote a book.

Charlene, you were curious what state I live in. I live in the Good Ol state of Ohio. As they say only in Ohio. LOL. I do know this for a fact, every doctor in every single clinic or what-have-you, everyone has their own rules. No one is on the same page and that's where it's so confusing and so stupid.

Re: sandy (# 1284) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Sandy, sorry you are in so much pain. I’m also a chronic pain patient. Back in 2003, my pain manager along with an orthopedic surgeon implanted a pain pump in my lower left side of my abdomen. My pm fills it about every 2-3 months. He can put in many different drugs. The pump has a line that runs up to my T10. It has a continuous feed. I don’t have to worry about pills for the most part. He also gives me a script for Soma for any breakthrough pain I get in my vertebrae or muscles. I never went through withdrawals with this either. If the meds don’t work, he will either change the amount that gets fed or he will change the meds. I have a number of medicine that’s in the pump. For the most part, I am comfortable and the Soma works if I’m having a bad day. At least I’m no longer swallowing so many pills & constantly counting them so I don’t run out. Just want to give you another alternative. Hope it helps. Good luck

So true, i'm in Australia. When the vietnam war was on the streets of australia suddenly it became full of high quality heroin. Australia was a R&R spot. I recently returned from Laos Cambodia and unexploded bombs are still going off every day plus deformed young people from agent orange... What did it prove? Still a lot of people suffering from the effects of the war in the golden triangle, sounds a lot like Afganistan.

Mare (# 1302) --

I’m sorry you have to have the drugs in the first place but that sounds like an incredible gift in not having to worry about pills and also not having to contact various embassies to get permission to travel with you controlled drugs. The only thing that I know of is a central line driver but that is only done in palliative care, here in the U.K.
I would absolutely love to have something similar and very quickly talked with my colleagues about this but no one had even heard of such a device here, at all.
Wishing you continued good luck with your ongoing battle

Mare (# 1302) --

Firstly, please don’t think I am being nasty or trying to knock you but no one can make such promises. In the U.K. the guidelines for prescribing Opioids or stronger pain relief have dramatically changed. I can only prescribe them and to a total of just 120mg at maximum and this is only after a long winded & drawn out process of the patient going through specialist clinics and then the controlled drug and pain management centres. I have no ideal of how it works in the US but I can only prescribe CD’s to someone who has had the works and I have to have a specialists permission. I noticed, when I used to visit my estranged brother, in Chicago, that he could basically buy or get prescribed what he basically wanted but he was a millionaire and would just visit different doctors if he wasn’t satisfied. Please let me know the procedures now as we rarely see anything of teal importance in the lancet magazine, other than the USA is radically rethinking its controlled drug prescribing. I have many patients who now use the dark web and pay and get anything they want & we have been told we are not responsible to help them.
It’s a sad state of affairs I’m afraid.

Hello Mare, I have been thinking about a Pain pump for several years now. I have DDD of my cervical spine and have been dealing with it for 20 + years now. Did the pump really help you that much? Did you take pain meds before your implant? Thanks so much for any info you can provide...H

Hello.
I agree. My hubby and I are raising my seven-year-old granddaughter. We've basically had her since she was two weeks old. But legally we've had her five years. She is above average in school and doing fantastic. And the Best Manners ever. I'm still young enough to keep up with this little rat. LOL I just adore this sweet baby. I often wonder where would she be without Granny and Grandpa. I respect any grandparent that is raising their grandchildren.

Have a great evening everyone.

Re: Margo (# 1300) Expand Referenced Message

Margo, have you looked into CBD hemp which is legal in 50 states? Full spectrum has only .03 THC from cannabis in it but a lot of people are finding help with their pain with it! The one company I have tried is Lazarus Natural and they are also referred by a lot of people. They have a 40% discount for Vets & also for legitimate proven disabled or proven low income people! Their prices, I've heard, are most reasonable! They will give you the info you need if you go on line and also their phone # . They are very helpful! Good Luck with you son! God Bless!

Re: HOUSE (# 1312) Expand Referenced Message

Hi House

I’ve been on the pump for around 10 years. I was skeptical at first but I can honestly say there really hasn’t been much of a difference than if I were taking my meds orally. There are a lot of benefits of the pump. You no longer have to manage all your meds or make sure you have enough if you are out somewhere. I also have DDD, no disc at L4-L5 after a failed laminectomy, stenosis & spondylolisthesis. Your dr can put meds in the pump that don’t come in pill form. You may see a little difference until your dr gets the correct meds & dosages in the pump & into your system. My dr gave me some meds while transitioning to only the pump. But I had no withdrawals at all. Now I only take Soma for muscle spasms or breakthrough pain & Halcion for sleep

Hello everyone I hope you're having a great evening.

I'm having a fantastic evening and I'm feeling just wonderful. God is good.
I've been watching this new show I thought I would pass this on to you wonderful people the name of the show is DopeSick Nation and it is so so sad. Good endings and then extremely bad endings. It's about kids that go to Florida searching for help rehab and other options. They are in for a big surprise when they get to Florida because that's not how it is. You need to tune in.

Have a great weekend. Sending prayers and positive vibes.

Hello my friend.

You have been such an inspiration to me. I started Suboxone he gave me the pills you still put them under your tongue and let them dissolve. He did say if I wanted to try Subutex or the strips that will talk about it Tuesday..

I'm so excited. He appears to be a wonderful doctor but time will tell. I'm doing great I'm on the road to just beating the hell out of being dependent on pain pills and free of fighting with the pain doctors. I'm so over it. I thank you for all of your advice and all of your research your great.... Keep in touch my friend.

Have a great night.
