Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 59) (Top voted first)
UpdatedIs narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?
Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?
Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?
Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.
Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.
The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.
While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.
In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.
What will you do?
Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

I called and talked to the DEA in Phoenix 3 times and they say they do not and never have said to any Drs what medication or how much medication to give their patients. Our Drs are lying to all of us. It's the gov, and pharmacy boards.
Re: Charlene (# 1254)
Hi,
I'm thinking about going to my son's Dr and actually trying either Suboxone or Subutex, whatever the doctor feels that I need. I'm just tired of the bulls*** and playing their games. And I could care less what they label me because I know who and what I am. Why should you care what others think of you? They don't pay your bills, they do nothing for you. That's just my opinion so please don't take that wrong. I'm just tired of the bulls***. My pain doctor told me he would be surprised in 2020 if all pain clinics were absolutely gone that he would be surprised he said it's that bad. I was fighting this issue for a long time and I have finally surrendered. I'm done. Color Me Gone.
Hoping the best for you.
Re: Charlene (# 1253)
As far as I'm concerned it's a real downer plus harder to come off than other opiates. Also if you have misfortune of needing pain relief from an accident, you will be completely blocked. It seems to interfere with anything you may enjoy and cant get enjoyment from a smoke even. It does do something to your brain. A bit too much like big brother brain control to me. Good luck to everybody doing well on this med. This is just my opinion.
Re: sandy (# 1260)
I don't have any solution but just keep seeking and reaching out something will come up if you seek with the desperation that I know you are feeling.
Re: sandy (# 1260)
thank you for the heads up on Bob Barker.... I would like to know what they gave him for pain, if anything.... If not, it would be a tragedy if someone his age had to suffer with no end in sight. It's a tragedy anyone has to suffer at any age.
Re: sandy (# 1260)
sandy, I didn't want you post to go unanswered. I had to say I 'hear' you and I hear what your saying. I wish I had answers for you and could help you. I'm hurting too, I'm miserable. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.
Re: Charlene (# 1270)
Wow!! Thank you for all your kindness and all your information. I'm hoping she will give me Subutex I'm afraid to ask because sometimes if you ask they think you may know too much about the medication. LOL, I'm actually looking forward to this. I'm in pretty good health I guess. I'll let you know how it goes. I won't be doing this for about 2 weeks and then I'll be on the road to being pain pill free. I just have to let my hubby get through his surgery and then I'll be good to go my friend. I'll keep you posted. Thank you so much. PS, should I go ahead and ask her for Subutex or just see what she thinks? Again thank you so much my friend. I'm looking so forward to my new Journey. Everyone that I have talked to have said they really don't have a lot of pain being on the Subutex or Suboxone. So I just can't wait to be done with the pain pills and done playing the doctors stupid games. But I still will go to bat for anyone that needs my help fighting for their rights for their pain pills.
Because eventually pain medication will be a thing of the past and that is so sad. People will be like I remember when.
Re: Valerie (# 1273)
What I can recommend to u is if she will only give suboxone? The way I came to have it and others in a group of friends from medschat is just accept what she will give u. For me back in 2005 when I started the way they prescribe it was the first 6 days was automatic give subutex on the 7th day u were switched to suboxone. I noticed the difference the very first day. On the 2nd day I noticed it again, that ump..just was not there. I called the dr. Asking if for sure I got the right medicine? Yes, they said. By the end of the week I called and said I must be allergic to the naloxone, u can look up reactions, upset stomach, rash or hive symptoms just look and boom from that day on I always got subutex. Whenever I have to go to a different doctor for many reasons, let's just say uncomfortable. I just ask I have never had a problem I would be honest say by saying generic subutex is also cheaper too. Most of my doctors understand the price of these medicine.. I know it can be nerve wracking to go in and ask, but when I call on the phone for a new appointment I tell them what I'm interested in so i don't waste my time or there's. The secretary knows what that doctor prescribes..plus another thing subutex has now 7 generics there are only 2 types that most will except at the pharmacy and the #1 as of now is called Rhodes 8mg, Purdue pharmaceutical,..distributor Rhodes. The second one is called hikma 54 411s. Those have been the best for along time until Rhodes came out in Oct 2017. They feel like they are 2x stronger and so smooth tasting. But like I said the other group I follow are mostly pain patients and addiction. I really just learned that subutex is treated for pain now.. it's kinda funny that Purdue puts out Rhodes. Purdue put out the best oxy..now that have to cover up their ass from getting everyone addicted. There was a late night comedy show that does the skit..on the late show with Stephen Colbert Purdue pharmaceutical...distributor Rhodes. Good luck friend. Keep me posted.
Re: Charlene (# 1274)
Good morning my friend.
I'm a little nervous I know I shouldn't be I'm old enough to handle this but in a way I'm still a little nervous. But I got this and I know once I commit I will do it a hundred and 10%. I thank you so much for your support and I will be touching base with you as soon as I start the program. Like I said I'm just waiting for my husband to get through his situation and then I'll be on to my new Journey. Nervous but then so excited to not be trapped with the pain pills any longer. Again thank you my friend. You've helped me a lot.
Have a blessed day.
Re: Charlene (# 1279)
Good morning.
I called yesterday to set up my appointment and they told me things have changed here and I would have to check into the hospital for 3 days and detox to where they could give me medication and watch me. I'm really mad about this. That's not how it worked for a lot of my friends they went into a doctor and they had already detoxed and the doctor had given them the medication. I really don't want to go to a hospital for 3 days I just don't have the time with my husband having surgery and other issues. What do I do my friend? Searching for answers.

Re: Valerie (# 1283)
So sorry you are going through this! I can’t fathom this being done to you. What med was taken off market?
Re: Goat c (# 3)
Don't think they don't know it. It's morally reprehensible what they are doing to chronic pain patients. The bulk of overdoses are not from the disabled and elderly. It is from the massive fentanyl and analogs being imported illegally from China to our country. Instead of the government recognizing this as a National security issue, they look to the easiest targets to make them appear they are doing something. Prescriptions have gone down very far, yet the OD's are still rising. There is a sinister underbelly about this if one takes it to it's historic logical conclusions. Hitler convinced his country that at first it was fine to exterminate mentally and physically impaired people. We all know what happened soon after. I'm just saying this because something is happening where smart, logical people are not being heard or too afraid to speak out.
This is in my Medschat newsletter .... why are they posting this, using these words:
"Grandparents: Raising their children's children, they get the job done
Millions of children are being raised solely by their grandparents, with numbers continuing to climb as the opioid crisis and other factors disrupt families. New research shows that caregivers who step up to raise their grandchildren are overcoming unique challenges to manage just as well as biological and adoptive parent caregivers. (via Science Daily)"
Re: Roro (# 1297)
I would not be even a little surprised if this were to me true.
Re: maryanne (# 1291)
I to have lost faith in most doctors if not all of them. My son is a chronic migraine suffer. No neurologist nor Primary Care will help him. We were told to go to Thomas John's or Thomas Jefferson headache clinic in Pennsylvania but if we go out of state his Medicaid is not valid anywhere else. What are we supposed to do? He is in incredible pain with nausea and sensitivity to light and sound on a daily basis. I have researched natural remedies for migraine and the only thing that I can come up with is ginger taken at the onset also magnesium on a daily basis. Unfortunately this is also not working. Two doctors have ask us to leave their office when we mention the only thing that has helped at all is butalbital with codeine. He tried the Fioricet without codeine and ended up going by ambulance to the hospital for chest pains and shortness of breath. They did nothing. I am at my wit's end with his pain and suffering which is causing deep depression which no doctor will attend to either. Help please if you have any information for us. Thank you
Re: Jools (# 1310)
Hello, And yes, it is a sad state of affairs indeed!
Re: Mare (# 1306)
Hello Mare, I have been thinking about a Pain pump for several years now. I have DDD of my cervical spine and have been dealing with it for 20 + years now. Did the pump really help you that much? Did you take pain meds before your implant? Thanks so much for any info you can provide...H
Re: Charlene (# 1303)
Hello my friend.
You have been such an inspiration to me. I started Suboxone he gave me the pills you still put them under your tongue and let them dissolve. He did say if I wanted to try Subutex or the strips that will talk about it Tuesday..
I'm so excited. He appears to be a wonderful doctor but time will tell. I'm doing great I'm on the road to just beating the hell out of being dependent on pain pills and free of fighting with the pain doctors. I'm so over it. I thank you for all of your advice and all of your research your great.... Keep in touch my friend.
Have a great night.
