Is the round pink 30 mg Adderall generic name Sandoz/Eon with the markings of CDR 136 on one side more or less effective than the oval orange 30 mg Adderall generic name Barr/Teva with the markings of b974 on one side and 30 on the other side? What is the most effective/potent Adderall that is generic and 30 mg?

Re: Demi (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Have you considered lys-dexedrine called Vyvanse. It is smoother than the adderall. Remember to take plenty of vitamin B and a small amount of antacid; like baking soda with water. If you feel like turning off the amphetamine try some diluted vinegar. These additions used to be given with the original datasheet - before they stopped giving people information.

As far as dextroamphetamine with l-lysine I have head excellent results, the dose is usually smaller but it fixes the racemix amphetamine syndrome (i.e., the ``crash'') from adderall. I tried adderall and stopped taking it because dexadrine is so much smoother. Best of luck...

Teva might as well be chalk. I had REALLY high hopes about trying it this month, after Sandoz, Mylan and Auro. and it SERIOUSLY might be WORSE than Aurobind. I am SO FREAKING FRUSTRATED with this HELL.

After Sandoz, Teva, Aurobindo, and Mallinckrodt, I finally settled on Mylan. It's the only one that has worked for me consistently.

Pathetic (# 623) --

The "paradoxical stimulant" effect of ADHD is a myth, repeated constantly but with no basis in science.''

I am paraphrasing here:

Defenses against impulses

The ego wants to be satisfied... It seems paradoxical that it frequently turns against its own instinctual demands.

Causes that bring about such a paradox...

1) Biology
2) Dependency of the child's self-esteem related upon getting affection
3) The world is "projectively misunderstood'' creating an expectation of punishment due to repressed impulses
4) ...from an intrapsychic representative of the objective world, educational...

From archaic ego (pg 52 Fenichel)

Impulsive behavior and addiction can be utilized as a means of fighting off depression, leading to supply of narcissistic supply. (pg 405 fenichel)

Yes, I know, this is old analytic psychology and the theory has been disproven (I love that one). To me it makes sense; defective or comprised prefrontal cortex can contribute to inefficient information processing (stahl).

If you do not believe that one, then you have never seen the result of electro-shock therapy (ECT). It is (ECT) becoming more common with the altered non-sine wave pulses.

"For years, it was assumed that stimulants had paradoxical calming effects in ADHD patients, whereas stimulating 'normal' individuals and producing locomotor activation in rats.''

locomotor activation in rats? Did the test probes cause them some anxiety? I do not care for rats or their observation. What evidence have you?

Addy (# 621) --

I have been taking 5mg dextrostat for over 25+ years. They where made by SK beechham. Recently they have stopped making 5mg and now only have 10mg. Desxtrostat has a similar effect to adderall instant release with two exceptions; the dextrostats are much smoother and where off in about 3 hours and there is no `kick' to the stats. They are hardly noticable.

I am 42 years old, 5'7" and 165lbs. I still have decent set of hair on my head. Dextrostats/adderall/lys-dex are _not_ like desoxyn! That stuff is for the air force pilots :)

An important thing to remeber is that amphetamine does not act like a direct agonist, it's more like a reuptake drug. If you take the amphetamine while tired you will still feel tired and act very clumsily. No different than drinking coffee while tired. Nothing can replace sleep but sleep.

The best time to take amphetamine is when you are well rested and with a belly full of food otherwise you're just wasting your water...

Also try not too take them when bored, they can make you a bit squirrelly if you aren't active enough.

The USAF does not use Desoxyn! Some special ops used to use Dexedrine. Modafinil is the only "go pill" used in the Air Force nowadays. You don't need sleep for Modafinil to work. It's commonly given on long range missions or to the crew/pilots of AWACS. Other branches may use various stims such as Desoxyn but the USAF does not. -Mason, formerly 14WX USAF

But if you’re taking adderall for chronic fatigue, that seems counter productive! I have taken Vyvanse before, but after so many years of 30mg 2/day of Add. the 40mg of Vy. seemed like air. I have also judged weaned from 300mg of Effexor IR (venlaflax) to 75 with 20 mg of Prozac, so along with the SH**TY gen. Add, I feel like an EMPTY BAG OF BONES!

I’ve just started taking L-tyrosine before my morning dose and after my afternoon. After all of the MIND NUMBING research I’ve done (as have you all, no doubt), the tyrosine seemed to be more beneficial to me based on my endocrine diseases...BUT...sadly, my thyroid being dis functional isn’t as important to me as MY MIND AND BODY being COMPLETELY DISFUNCTIONAL! Any thoughts on the supplement situation or any other augmentation options?

- The USAF does not use Desoxyn!

It was a tounge in cheak joke of sorts. My grandfather used to have a bottle of the yellow pills... He served in the great war (1918). My grandmother used to tell me to stay the hell away from those things. He was not special forces, he was an american with FF (Flat Feet). He didn't talk very much about it.

Yes, it is a dated joke, notheless, I believe it stands...

- "go pill"

I am not familiar with the term.

If you’re taking adderall for chronic fatigue, that seems counter productive!

I do not know much about CFS. I would first try and rule out depression. Depression can cause fatigue. As can GAD and social anxiety. From wikipedia

"Evidence suggests... a gradual increase in activity suited to individual capacity can be beneficial in some cases."

This is hard to accomplish if you have developed an aversion to socialization (social anxiety). Sometimes medication with CBT can give you the small boost that you need. I am not a therapist or MD, but drugs with therapy usually helps you understand why and/or what you suffer from and how to increase your quality of life.

The use of amphetamines for depression may seem like a blunt hammer, but what works for you and increases your quality of life is a discussion for you and your doctor.

You mention Effexor. I have taken the drug many years ago, the drug was supplied in a pharm-pack (blister pack). I found that withing a week or two I was feeling more apt to going out and trying to socialize. Unfortunately they (who are they?) decided that effoxor was a stimulant and that stimulant medications are bad for men.

The current recommendations of 150 mg seem extraordinarily high! Titration of antidepressants is something that a pharmacist cannot provide. They believe that one bottle is 30 pills. Titration of Effexor should be _very_ strict. It is an SNRI and should be taken with extreme care. Doses above 300mg are hard for me to imagine.

I would surmise that like all drugs they have diluted it to the point where it is safe for an infant. Effexor was once a very strong drug with strict titration and observation requirements. I would not trust taking effexor for longer than a week without consulting with your doctor. The withdrawal can be awful.

I imagine that small does of amphetamine may be safer; not to say more effective. You can try them for a couple of days and stop cold turkey without any serious problems. This is assuming you don't have a drug abuse problem. There are no drugs that I know of that can increase your level of responsibility when taking drugs.

I have also judged weaned from 300mg of Effexor IR (venlaflax) to 75

Whoa! I do not know what Effexor IR is but that is a _very_ large titration! Are you feeling ok? I started with 7.5mg for a couple of days then went to 35.7 (something like that). 300mg to 75! Please be cautious! You will most likely feel better soon, but that is enough to make you _very_ uncomfortable. Wow! That is a huge dose! Hang in there, you can make it... Do not feel shy about talking with a health care provider if you are feeling less than ok... Wow!

I have also tried Wellbutrin, it works ok for about a month, then I start to get the shakes. In the past therapy and Wellbutrin has helped me overcome some obstacles. It became a very popular drug, then people starting to eat the desiccant. They had to make a coated pill to deal with the hydroscopy. Some people just do not appreciate the responsibility that drug use requires.

Please be safe. thanx for sharing

Re: steve (# 650) Expand Referenced Message

Taking Adderall for chronic fatigue and fibryomyalgia DOES seem counter productive, but it's the one thing that saved me from those, along with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Not meaning the addy cured me, just enabled me to keep working and be functional in all areas of my life! If I had not met the brilliant physical medicine doctor, who happened to be aware of the small study confirming cfs/fibro treatment using Adderall, I really don't know where I would be today. Granted, this study was done when Adderall was actually good and there were far fewer side effects. (Not the crap they try to pawn off as Adderall today). But there have been many more studies proving the therapeutic value of add medications for cfs/fibro. I had muscle pain, joint pain, weight loss and unbelievable fatigue (mental and physical), fluctuating body temperature that mostly remained low and extremely low blood pressure. All these followed an illness that went untreated despite many trips to the doctor and even hospital. Finally, when I was diagnosed, the illness had taken hold of my body and immune system. I had a low white blood cell count, no appetite, pain, and many more side effects from the illness. When I started the Adderall (with much trepidation), it was like a lightbulb switched on. I was able to move more, my muscles felt warm and the pain dissipated. I actually became hungry and had an appetite, my blood pressure normalized, and my wbc count returned to normal. Yes, this was from taking the Adderall! That's one of the frustrating parts of the vast difference in the generic meds, it also vastly effects the therapeutic value for whatever it treats in me. It's like the illness whacked out something in my brain, but Adderall stabilizes it. Oddly, I read about research that claims many children with add/adhd go on to develop cfs/fibro as adults. Crazy, huh?

"Taking Adderall for chronic fatigue and fibryomyalgia DOES seem counter productive"

Actually to me it does not. I have heard many people that suffer from chronic pain benefit from stimulants. I am very glad to hear that something helps you. I imagine the adderall makes getting out of bed a bit easier.

I once new a woman who was prescribed methadone (!) for pain. It took her six months before she looked/felt better. She also started to take adderall. The problem was, at that time and mostly now: opiates = drug seeker. She wanted off the methadone and they called her a drug seeker... She is now fine.

"it was like a lightbulb switched on. I was able to move more, my muscles felt warm and the pain dissipated."

This make sense to me. I am very glad to hear that you have found some relief from your suffering.

"That's one of the frustrating parts of the vast difference in the generic meds, it also vastly effects the therapeutic value for whatever it treats in me"

Vastly is an understatement! The generic drugs do not require evaluations and they can vary by 20% active material, that is 120% to 80%! Not to mention the non-active ingredients that could cause more problems then they're worth.

From the FDA website: "Generic drugs also tend to cost less than their brand-name counterparts because generic drug applicants do not have to repeat animal and clinical (human) studies that were required of the brand-name medicines to demonstrate safety and effectiveness."

Scary...

"although generic medicines have the same therapeutic effect as their branded counterparts,"

This is a very tricky statement. therapeutic effect has nothing to do with bioavailabily, as the latter quote, they are not required to under go evaluations.

"Oddly, I read about research that claims many children with add/adhd go on to develop cfs/fibro as adults. Crazy, huh?"

No, not to me. Researchers are usually trying to prove something, it's hard to remove bias from a study.

You want crazy! FDA website:

"The label is the same as the brand-name medicine's label."

What the !!! Can you imagine buying a bottle of advil and one of the pills is mislabeled? With controlled substance that is acceptable.

I feel you pain about the changes in adderall. I took it many moons ago and stopped because I found it to be too strong. Now they have a time released amphetamine - like why on earth would anyone need that?

Re: steve (# 652) Expand Referenced Message

Since being on Adderall, it's opened my eyes to the whole sketchiness of the FDA! All the rules and regulations are about what makes them money. The public health industry is the most corrupt racket. I'd say it's safe to say the FDA is hugely influenced by the pharmaceutical companies. The public views (and their lives and health), mean nothing to the FDA. They are obviously, and entirely profit motivated. So what if people are harmed by a medicine (or generic medicine), that just means more money in the system in the long run, right?? Yes, it is all really scarey to think about.
To bring this back on topic, I can only guess profit is the same motivator for why pharmaceutical companies have changed ingredients and formulas over the years. Frustrating to find a generic that works and doesn't cause negative side effects, to only turn around the next month and it be changed.

In my experience I, along with most of ocean co. Nj prefer Teva. Company based out of Israel. Reason being, atleast as my doc explained. The round ones, regardless of color are 4 seperate drugs which may or may not take effect at all different times. Your orange ovals are not composed of 4 different things and have more of what, atleast I kno I want.

After trying so many generic Adderall, I remembered the Vyvance 70mg I took before all these horrible pills that made me hungry and sleepy and useless— I found a couple of capsules left over and like you said— they really help so I will follow your helpful lead and discuss it with my Dr and insurance, unless there is still a program you can qualify for FREE BRAND NAME VYVANCE! It is the best for me- no questionable ingredients! Thanks for mentioning it!!!

Re: Karen (# 657) Expand Referenced Message

I absolutely hate teva products. I did not know they are trying to make another drug mistake.

I might get in trouble say this, but some antidepressant can potentiate the effects of ampmine... Try a small dose of effexor or wellbutrin. Warning! this is a bit more addictive but I hate Tiva, and I feel like you have the right to feel better.

I will not take adderall, it is too racy for me. If you are lucky you can get a hold of plain old dextroamphetamine. I have had some pills from amedra Pharmaceuticals, GSK, and SK beecham. The best were the beecham with out doubt. The last time I got a a bottle from SK was 1998. Good luck finding those. I think GSK sold off their brand to amedra. Dextrostat is a bit cheaper, although it can be very difficult to find a doctor willing to prescribe the medication. Most doctors do not like to prescribe a medication that is considered "old'' for some reason or another.

I even think that Barr produces a fairly decent dextroamphetamine. You may also wan to try dextrostat. They are short acting but they work like a charm.

I would recommend you stay away from adderall because it has become very popular with the college students. They like to insulfate the time release versions. Weird...

Have you tried Vyvanse? It's not as "powerfull' as adderall but it works better for me. It's very mellow, like the dextrostats. It is also considered a new mediation and doctors seem to like that (I have no idea why?).

P.S. Watch for headaches. When I was in the hospital they where giving me amphetamine that caused the worst headaches and asthma I have ever had. They substitute the dex for "amphetamine'' (I checked their computer).
