Today is my 5th full day of Belviq and I am exhausted. I'm tired and a little dizzy all day, but at night I seem to have trouble falling asleep - but once asleep I am out cold. Can you tell me how long this will last? Should it start getting better? I hate the side effects but have already lost 6 pounds, which is just a miracle. I want to stay on this, but being tired is just making things so hard! ## Hello, Kim! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. The FDA does list that this medication can cause fatigue, as a side effect, along with chills, peripheral edema, headache and skin rash. However, side effects usually do go away, once your body gets used to a medication, so they will generally hit their full intensity at about 3 to 4 weeks in, then they sh...

I just started taking Belviq yesterday. I have a previous prescription for Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen and I am considering taking a pill for my knee pain. Will these two drugs interact? ## Hello, Jenny! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. How long ago was the Vicodin prescribed and are they both from the same prescriber? The FDA classifies Vicodin as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is it truly bad to be on Belviq with an anxiety medication? My Dr. Okay'ed it but I don't want bad side effects that can be life threatening. Today was my 1st day and I'm very nausea. Could also be from my Metformin I just started on..thinking I will stop this and focus on the belviq...and advice? ## Hello, Suga! How are you? What anxiety medication do you take? I'm sorry, but I can't check for possible interactions or problems without knowing the specific drug. Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! Belviq is approved by the FDA to aid in weight loss. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, anorexia, diarrhea, pale skin and insomnia. Thus, it can cause nausea, as a side effect. What are you taking the Metformin for? If you're ...

I was on Belviq fir approx 3 weeks. I felt as though I was having bipolar episodes. Manic phases. On Thanksgiving day I decided enough! I stopped the belviq. I had been on Zoloft for 2-3 years & weaned off to take belviq. My doctor was very against me starting belviq but I badgered him until he agreed to let me try it. I regret it. Since coming off belviq & recently starting the Zoloft again, I now have constant anxiety with depression. I'm hoping Zoloft will start helping soon, it's only been 1 week back on. I've lost 5lbs exercising with beach body products & eating healthier. I will never try a weight loss pill again. My life is a mess right now. ## Hello, Abby! How are you feeling? Have your symptoms improved, yet? Most weight loss medications work as stimula...

I want to know how many days do I have to stop belviq so that I can enjoy a glass of wine? ## According to NIH.gov, the half-life of Belviq (lorcaserin) is said to be approximately 11 hours. From what I've been told by medical professionals (I haven't verified this myself yet), it usually takes about 3 to 5 half lives in order for most drugs to be completely excreted from your body (aside from maybe hair follicle samples). Having said that, I would probably encourage you to double check with your prescribing doctor just to be on the safe side, but it sounds to me like it would probably be an estimated 3 days or so before you'd be in the clear. I hope this helps!

After you reach weight goal and come off the Belviq, any reports about re-gaining all your weight? ## Hello, Florida! How are you? There is always a risk of that, when you use such a medication for weight loss. To stave it off, people need to keep following a low-fat, low-calorie healthy diet and get plenty of exercise. Are you currently on Belviq? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and anorexia.

After taking the medication I felt a burning sensation in my throat and a heaviness in my chest. I question if this is one of the side effects. Also after taking the second dose my eyes were dilated (like I've been on drugs) lol.. ## These symptoms aren't listed under the normal side effects that the FDA has reported. They typically include symptoms such as nausea, headache, decreased appetite, rash, anxiety and impaired memory or attention span. Are you on any other medications? Have you ever had acid reflux? That can cause the burning and heaviness, so if you've ever had acid issues, this medication could be aggravating it.

Started taking Belviq early in the year. After about a month I started having bouts of temporary blindness in my right eye that lasted 2-5 minutes. This happened about 4 times over the course of a month, always in my right eye. Like a shade was being pulled down in the back of my eye. This had never happened to me before, but it wasn't until the 3 occurrence that I put two and two together, and thought it might be the Belviq. At around 2 1/2 months, I stopped taking Belviq and the problems went away. My doctor was unavailable for an appointment concerning this so I pretty much forgot about it. Five months later when seeing him for a yearly checkup, I made him aware of what had happened. Long story a bit shorter, I mentioned to him my research of the blindness issue turned up a possi...

Can anybody please tell me what is safe to take it feel like I am dying over here :( ty ## Hello, Jo! How are you? I'm sorry that you've been ill. What do you usually take to treat cold symptoms? There are so many available that I can't check them all, but if you post back with your preferred medications, I will gladly check them for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Belviq as possibly including nausea, dizziness, anxiety, bladder pain, dizziness and ear congestion.

Hi - My Dr prescribed Belviq after several years of healthy eating and exercise with nothing but a slow weight gain. Took all the necessary blood work / tests to rule out anything else. It's working so far but now I've dropped enough weight after one month that I'm just below the 30 BMI now. I go back to see my DR in a week for a weight in and to get a refill but am worried that either my DR or my Pharmacist won't fill it now that I'm below 30. I've read everything possible and don't see this answer out there, and all I see is the statement that Dr can prescribe if a patients INITIAL BMI is above 30, does that mean they can continue to refill / write additional RX after I'm below since I started above? I really haven't lost that much weight and am no ...

I am on 70mgs of methadone and have gained 65lbs while being on it and cant lose the weight even if my life depended on it! I tried everything from diet and exercise and every diet pill out there. Phentermine did make me lose 10lbs but no more then that even when i continued taking it for months later. So i stopped and gained the 10lbs back and plus some. I wanted to try belviq to help lose weight. I keep trying to research it to see if it works with methadone but cant find a answer. Anyone out there have any luck with belviq while on methadone? ## I've been on methadone for pain management for 5 years now, now at 60 mg per day. I, like you, was so desperate to try something to help my weight (I've gained 50 lbs while on Methadone). My doctor prescribed me belviq a few months ag...

I have a really bad migraine, the first one I've had since i started taking Belviq. Can i take my Maxalt? if not how long do i need to be off Belviq before i can take it? ## Hello, Dina! How are you? No, they shouldn't be taken together, unless your doctor approves, because they can both raise serotonin levels, which may create the risk of your developing serotonin syndrome which can be fatal. It would be best to check in with your doctor to see what you can safely take, with the Belviq. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Belviq as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia and anorexia. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I started taking Belviq but I have two slipped discs that cause severe muscle spasms and pain. I usually take a flexeril and it helps. I don't see it anywhere but so many drug interactions I'm scared to take it. ## There is nothing in the label to suggest that it should be a problem. You might take the first flexeril overnight or over the weekend if you are worried and can judge any issues while at home. ## Hello, Sxmack! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. I can't find any information on specifically how long before a meal to take Belviq to get the optimal performance from the medication. I just started on it yesterday and want to make sure I'm giving this my best try. ## Hello, CB! How are you? From what I'm reading on the Belviq site, there is no particular time span that it needs to be taken before a meal, as a matter of fact, they say it can be taken with or without food, so if it causes nausea, you may want to take it with food to help minimize that. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include dizziness, changes in memory or thinking, irritability, anorexia and anxiety. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I think it is around 2 hours. I would take it first thing in the morning and then late after...

Hi I am going to start taking this however I was wondering if I could cut a pill in half before I take a full one the side effects make me nervous. ## Hello, Kai! How are you? In order for the medication to be effective, you should take the full dose as prescribed. Which side effects concern you? Perhaps that can be addressed to help you. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness and anorexia.

I started belviq last Saturday I've been taking one pill at 6am and then my 2nd pill is at 1;00-2:00pm only because my doctor told me not to take it too late because I won't be able to sleep. I don't even want sweets For those who have body aches make sure u stretch I experienced severe back pain on day 2 ! I have been taking Belviqu for about a week. I have experienced extreme fatigue, light headed ness sometimes stumbling.. I have also experienced confusion. I'm afraid because I have had MS symptoms that are similar. I stayed in bed most of the day. I may discontinue this RX. ## Hello, Lefty! How are you? In this case, it's difficult to say. Those are possible side effects of Belviq, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience shivering, diarrhea and abdominal pain. However, it could also be due to MS. It would be best to consult your doctor to have yourself checked out. Is there anything else I can help with?

I used to weigh 285 lbs. With the Belviq I lost an amazing 55 lbs. over a period of 9 months. I have since tapered off so my doctor took me off of it. If I'm off it for about 4-6 weeks will the weight loss pick up again as though I started it for the first time? My first month of taking it was May 1, 2014. Within that month I lost 20 lbs. My goal is to get down to at least 155 or lower. I'm a big boned girl so that size would be ok with me. If I lose more than that.....GREAT! I ended up gaining all of my weight from the medication Depakote. By the time I was done with the Depakote I weighed a whopping 324. I was so depressed and hated leaving my house. I thought I would always be alone and overweight. I've had surgery after surgery for various things and haven't really b...

I have been taking Belviq for almost 4 months. I have lost 30 pounds but have a lot more to lose. The last month I have plateaued - no weight loss at all. How long should a person be on this medication? ## You can be on Belviq indefinitely. If you have not had any weight loss in a month you might try increasing your exercise or asking your Physician if you can temporarily add Phentermine to get you over this hurdle. ## Thanks Sherie! I go to the doc on Monday and will ask about the phen. With the cost of Belviq I can't continue indefinitely anyway?? ## In addition to the helpful advice Sherie provided, I just wanted to note that sometimes drastic goals call for drastic lifestyle changes in more than 1 area...whereas increasing exercise may only be a single ingredient within a larger...
