Actually, it is completely normal to stop feeling those effects, after your body gets used to the medication. Addition usually happens, because people like those feelings, but they always wear off after awhile, so they have to keep taking more and more in order to get those side effects back.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
How long before the surgery did they tell you to stop taking it? They usually know the proper time frame to enable the pain medications to work.
