Yesterday I took 1 tablet of bactrim for a UTI. For the next 6 hours I did not feel better, so I took 1 Rowatinex capsule. I woke up this morning symptoms free. Do I need to continue Rowatinex? My beagle keeps a yeast infection in his ears all the time. No matter how many times I take him to the vet, it goes away for a week or two and it's back again. He has seizures and also he weighs 60 pounds, now I know he's overweight but I need to know how much bactrim I can give him to clear up his ear infection. I have a 3lb tcup Yorkie and he's been coughing and I can hear the congestion in his chest and breathing. I'm disabled and in serious pain my self and can barely walk due to the bladder and mesh I can't find the dosage for his weight. I don't want to give him to much. I took Bactrim about two months ago and approximately 4 days after quitting the drug I developed severe muscle and joint pain. I stopped the pills 3 pills early because I developed a rash and had insomnia and was nauseated. I am still experiencing muscle and joint pain, but it has improved somewhat. i was recently prescribed bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) for an infected burn. on the second day, i woke up with a really sore throat. by night, i had a fever, and the next morning, i had a sinus infection--which i used to get chronically from about 11 years ago, up until 4 years ago, in which time ive only had one. a day later i had a productive cough, semi bad but nowhere near as bad as the bronchitus the sinus infections would, after months, eventually turn into. those infectionswere clearly bacterial as whenever I did end up taking antibiotics, they always ended within a few days. I am an 80 year old female in good health with no medications until a recent bout with Urinary Tract Infection. I tolerated the pills for a few days week but the symptoms got so severe I stopped taking them. I took 15 out of 20. I was constipated for the first four days and had stomach discomfort with lots of gas and bloating. The last couple of days my legs hurt bad from my groin to my knees and the bloating and gas got worse even after regular bowel movements. I felt so bad I stayed in bed most of the day. I am on lisinopril and my dr put me on bactrim for 3 days and I feel more tired than usual. Everything that I'm reading about Smz/Tmp 800 is freaking me out! Now I don't think that I want to take it! Anyway I was wondering if it will work on an abscess? Please, any help would be great! ## I understand your concern, since it is a sulfa based antibiotic, it can cause some problematic side effects in some people that take it and about 3% are allergic to it. I had a bad experience with it myself and can't take it, again. However, the percentage that have problems with it is actually a very small number and the greater amount of people take it without experiencing any problems.
