I have been taking Bactrim for 7 days. Today is the last day, and although I was not the greatest sleeper I am sleeping 2 to 3 hours a night, if that and likewise not even sleeping during the day. I also was having strange dreams. I am so glad I found this site. I didn't know what was causing my sleeplessness.

How strong is 800 mg Bactrim DS? I usually have a tough time with antibiotics. My tummy gets upset and makes me feel nauseous. I am 56 and weigh 56 kgs.

I took Bactrim for seven days for a UTI. I usually hate antibiotics because they change my taste and I feel drained out. Surprisingly I didnt feel anything with this dose. The UTI did not go off fully but the doctor said there was no need to take an additional dose. I was hoping it would help a chest infection too but there was only partial reduction of the congestion

My Dr just prescribed me Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim DS (800/160) for 7 days because I was bitten by a spider. I already am having dizzy spells and nausea. Will this help or make it worse?

Was diagnosed with a UTI and prescribed bactrim. On the first day my stomach felt weird. On the 2nd day I was vomiting. My Dr said to continue at 2 a day for a week, but then I vomited every day so I stopped taking the pills, could not eat food for another week without throwing it up. Did the brat diet + another U/A, still had a UTI. It has been 6 weeks now and I still cannot eat right; have lost 20 lbs. The worst thing is I am diabetic and control it with vitamins and supplements. Which now make me throw up. My stomach is gnawing like I am starving. I feel that the meds damaged it. And yes I ate/eat live yogurt every day. And still have the UTI! I'm afraid to take any more chemicals. Any ideas? Has bactrim damaged me permanently?

So, I have several boils in both of my armpits. I was given Bactrim 2x a day and Bactroban topical ointment. When can I expect to see improvement? This is painful and the 2nd time I've had this. The first time was in 2008.

First, I would like to know if there is a difference between Bactrim and Septra? I am taking Septra for prostatitis. Also, my doctor said it would be ok to have a few beers. Is this true? I have been drinking light beer on occasion and have had no side effects.

Hey Rose. I have a disease called HS which sounds like what you are going through. You basically have to force doctors to listen to you. Um try bleach baths which is hot water with two cap fills of bleach, hot compresses, and never squeeze them. If they keep coming back in the same spot then that means they built a cyst wall and you need to have them surgically removed. I’ve had two surgeries for HS. If you exercise, you may want to try showering right after you do. You don’t want it sitting on your skin. If you wear tight clothes that may be a cause and I know I’m going to sound crazy but I have been on a diet of just meat and vegetables with fruit and I haven’t had a break out but when I ate a cupcake, I got one.

Hello, I just realized after taking this drug for four days why I would be up all night. Doctors prescribing this should to their patients that their sleep may be affected.

My whole leg underneath my knee has been swollen for a year or more. I took Bactrim for a UTI and it has made the swelling in my leg go down. What could this be? I had tarsal tunnel surgery 2 and a half years ago.

Hello. I am a high school student struggling with the same medication. I was put on it two days ago and since then, I have yet to sleep more than 30 minutes total. My hands and feet tend to sweat heavier and I get a very nauseous feeling throughout my day. I am currently on a weeks worth of prescription but my doctor wants to prescribe more after viewing the results. I have been very paranoid and I have started to leave the lights on. Is anyone else going through this?
